In which ways do you feel you are learning and growing?
Since starting at SNHU, I've learned how to push myself outside of my comfort zone. This growth has also given me the opportunity to learn how to communicate with people online, effectively manage a to-do list and calendar, and set goals that will lead to personal development.
What tips can you share with prospective students?
I recommend that prospective SNHU students utilize the academic advising resources offered. Advisors can assist with career paths, degree requirements, and choosing courses. It's also beneficial to engage actively with instructors and support staff.
In what ways do you feel this college challenges students academically?
The significant proportion of SNHU students who are working professionals or have other commitments, such as family, education, military, or civilian jobs, is advantageous. SNHU's flexible course scheduling, supportive environment, and helpful faculty allow students to effectively manage their time. Additionally, as a global institution, SNHU's extensive reach benefits students around the world by broadening their perspectives through interactions with diverse classmates and staff members.

In three sentences | Online classes are SO easy to balance with my work schedule, classes are when I want, where I want! Online Instructors have such varied experiences, each one brings new information to the table- you learn about classes and work experience, life in your career path, and other school and work options-Bonus! The six terms per year make it easy to stay focused on just two classes per term, and your degree can be done sooner than you expect!! |
Tips for prospective students | If you do online classes- stay focused and driven. online classes require that you be organized and committed, but there is also less of an over your shoulder feel. Much more flexibility allowed. Rolling deadlines make it easy to get in at any time of year- don't wait because you think you have to wait until the next term. SNHU's term structure feels odd at first, but once you get used to it, you may prefer it! I wish my whole degree had been set up like this- it's so much easier to focus on just two classes at once- and you're still considered full time!! |
Academic Rigor | Some of the classes can be tough, while others are easier, just like with any college course. I have found that when the instructors know the class they are teaching is difficult, they understand that and are willing to offer as much guidance and help as they can to help you succeed. The teachers truly do want to help you graduate and be successful in life! Just communicate with them, and they will be there for you! |
Dorm Life | I don't live in a dorm, I live off campus and take online classes. But if you're considering an online degree from SNHU, I strongly recommend it! |
Food and Dining | I have never eaten at SNHU since I am an online student and live at home. |
What to do for fun | NH has tons of stuff to do any time of the year. I grew up here in NH and whether it's the mountains in the north for skiing/snowboarding, or summer mountain activities (check out the ski area summer parks-mind blowing!), the lakes for ice fishing or boating and swimming, the many shopping malls, plazas and stores, or just the breathtaking scenery, NH has something for everyone. Just ask any local for what you're looking for- you're sure to find something fun and interesting to do! |
Bang for the buck | Absolutely worth every penny. It's about 50% more than what my community college was per credit, but I prefer it at SNHU. The online classes let me live my life and not have to re-arrange everything around my college schedule 2-3 times per year. Being able to control my learning environment has even allowed me to increase my GPA- I'm doing better online than I was in a classroom! |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | I haven'ts spent enough time on campus to accurately explain any unusual traditions or locations. |
Great for these types of students | SNHU has classes for undergraduate, Graduate, day student, night students and online students. No matter how/ when you prefer to learn, they have something for you. Hundreds of degree programs and transfer agreements with many community colleges in the state make it easy to attend SNHU. |
Clubs and Activities | So many clubs and activities, there is something for literally everyone! |
Greek Life | Without even asking, I was nominated to join an honor society that can help students be successful long after college. Sigma Alpha Pi is a gateway to success! |
Campus Safety | Always working to make campus safer, I frequently see emails about campus safety and they are always open to input and suggestions! Even though I don't often go to campus, I know I would feel safe there! |

In three sentences | Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) is convenient and flexible for the non-traditional student. I believe SNHU provides students who need a flexible schedule because of work and family obligations the chance to continue their education in a supportive environment. Overall, I would rate SNHU favorably compared to other similar universities because of the support I have received from advisers, the quality of the education I have received and the resources available to students. |
Tips for prospective students | I would tell prospective students first access how they themselves learn. If they are able to learn in a self motivated online setting then online classes may be a great option. If a prospective student does better in a classroom setting then that is the option they need to choose. I would tell that person to first look at their goals, second know how they learn best and third make a map of how they will achieve those goals and what setting will allow them to be successful. |
Academic Rigor | Each class of course is a bit different but I have found that to maintain high grades most classes take a fair deal of research. |

What to do for fun | I enjoy exploring the area for fun. Hiking and camping are always a great option during the summer and skiing is a great way to spend the day during the winter months. One of my favorite things to do since I am not from the New England area is to take day trips and explore historical sites in the area as well as small communities that may be overlooked by most travelers. |
Bang for the buck | Southern New Hampshire University is a bit on the expensive side. I have found that the quality of education as well as the experiences through SNHU have made it worth the higher price and given me a great foundation for my career. |
Great for these types of students | I have found that SNHU is full of international students. This allows students from all over the world to get a taste of many different cultures. |
