What Students Are Saying
Their academics can be challenging to anybody who doesn't know the proper studying technique. Don't study with distraction and take notes in class.

The grading scale is very intimidating. Also, unlike Ivy schools who curve and make everyone's GPA's higher than they should be, MSOE has only had about 14 alums graduate with 4.0s since it was established. It takes a lot of hard work, but the 94% job placement rate means future employers know graduates are cream of the crop.

Very few class days feel drawn-out or useless, so every class is important in understanding the concepts that follow after. That being said, a missed day is truly impairing in the long run. Academic integrity and discipline is important for success at MSOE.
The classes are small enough that professors will notice a student's absence, and they take note of those students as well. The teachers are easy to contact, however, and a simple email can inform the professor of a student's predicament if they overslept or cannot make it to class. The instructors are more tahn willing to respond to the email with all the relevant lesson material and inform the student of the content of a lecture.

MSOE is by far one of the most challenging schools out there. With many students dropping out or transferring by their sophomore year, it requires a great deal of effort from the students to stay on task in order to succeed. However, the teachers are usually quite fair about deadlines and have many office hours if you need additional help.

This college is not intended for those who are not willing to work towards their goal. The phrase, "You reap what you sow" really does apply here. Most of the professors will help you achieve your goal, but to get above is 3.5 GPA is a true accomplishment here. The bright side is that after this, anything else in life will seem fairly easy.
