Am learning a lot
I have learned very much from my time at IWU. I am a Christian Worship major with an emphasis in Media, which basically means I'm training to become a media leader within the the Church. Many of my classes, especially Media Scriptwriting, Radio Production, Intro. to Worship, and many others have taught me a lot about producing media in the Christian world. Something specific that I've seen with my major and minor over my time here is the importance of communication. Worship as its core is the communication of the story of God to His people. With that same thought, I've learned to be purposeful and intentional in everything that I create, to craft my work so the message of God shines through with clarity and ultimately points back to Him. It's such a God thing I have learned this idea about communication and worship coming together like this.
Am enjoying being here
All in all, I do enjoy my time at Indiana Wesleyan. Some days are harder than others. Early classes are hard to wake up for sometimes, but the truth is every class is an opportunity to learn and grow that much more, so I do really love being at Indiana Wesleyan.
Bang for the buck
By far, I would say the size of the university and how it opens for one-on-one support by our faculty is the most impressive, bang for the buck idea that Indiana Wesleyan brings to the table. I think having the ability to e-mail a professor with a question, set up a meeting and have coffee, or simply enjoy their company is very valuable. I remember when my advisor, Dr. Constance Cherry, emailed me to have coffee one day last semester. During that time, she simply encouraged me in what I was learning and said she saw so much in me as a student. You can never put a price on moments like that. Never.
Tips for prospective students
I would say to never go by the word of mouth of others. Many students will bash the university on its rules or give you horror stories on their experience here. My advice: SEE FOR YOURSELF. If you have a question about our school, don;t be afraid to ask it. If you're planning on coming here, spending the next four years of your life (and all the money) here, know what you're getting into. In short, be curious and ask questions.

Academic Rigor
Their professors are so nice and make you feel at home. They make you feel comfortable in the classroom and strive to know every student's name. In the lunch room, one of the professors in line ahead of me asked me my name and what I thought about the campus, which meant a lot to me!
Will enjoy being here
They only have chapel three days a week, but they have a stunning campus and very friendly students. They are focused on prayer and Christ, even if their chapel is every other day.
Bang for the buck
It's expensive, but they have excellent scholarship opportunities for almost every major available.
Great for these types of students
Christians, those who want to go to learn and make friends.

The atmosphere on campus is so welcoming! There is so much to do and I have felt really at home. It is amazing with how much the environment resembles a family!
Bang for the buck
Expensive but well worth every penny. You can get a lot of scholarships anyway.
Tips for prospective students
Be prepared to work hard and have a lot of fun. Try to make sure you do well at balancing your time.
Great for these types of students
This campus is good for any kind of student. the professors are always willing to help and talk. They really care for the individual.

This is an amazing place. I feel very lucky to be able to study here. My professor' s are very accommodating.
Tips for prospective students
Make sure you have everything in order. Apply for your student loans or grants right away. Make sure you do your classes so you get what you want. Sort out your roommate ahead of time.
Dorm Life
This is awesome. I have made a band of brothers that will always be there for me. We support each other and help when needed. I couldn't ask for a better dorm then what I am in.
Food and Dining
The food here is excellent and cheap. You won't even want to go out for that McDonald's.
What to do for fun
We have sports volleyball games against our dorm's. We go to our movie theater. Some of us even like to go to our local bingo parlour. Then we go to our local ice cream shop just to hang out.
Bang for the buck
I find this school expensive but they have several options open to help with the cost.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
There is an old church on campus that is just so beautiful. I think even if you are not religious you would find it amazing in many ways.
Great for these types of students
This school is great for those that want to attend college and still stay close to the lord.
Clubs and Activities
They have loads of clubs and activities to choice from. So I can't see someone being bored here.
Campus Safety
Campus safety is dead on with things. We get emails and texts if there is a problem and they watch for that out of the ordinary situation that shouldn't be there. So yes I do feel safe.

Am learning a lot
Even though I struggled my first semester of college, I learned more than I ever have before. The class I most struggled in, Anatomy and Physiology, was probably the hardest class I have ever taken, but I learned a lot. Even though I didn't receive the grade I wanted to get, I did learn quite a lot about the material.
Am enjoying being here
I love Indiana Wesleyan. Every time I come home for a weekend or a break I see myself missing it more and more. It is a wonderful place to pursue a upper level education. The Christian based environment brings you closer and closer to God and other students every day.
Bang for the buck
You definitely get your money's worth here. It is a great institution of learning. I've created memories here that I'll never forget.
Tips for prospective students
Don't worry too much. I worry a lot and it really brought me down early on in my first semester of college.
Do your homework ahead of time. It's a lot better do it ahead of time then doing it at three o' clock in the morning!
Great for these types of students
Indiana Wesleyan University is a great place to pursue a higher level of education. You create relationships with each professor which you won't see at a big public school. The professors are there to help you. I would recommend this to school for anybody to attend. It's a great place to learn and to create relationships with others.

Am learning a lot
Both academically and spiritually. The professors tend to put themselves out there to make sure the students are actually learning and understanding what is being taught. And if you are in need of some spiritual advice or guidance, you will find many of the profs willing to listen and help.
Am enjoying being here
First off is the friendly atmosphere, from the dorm rooms to the classrooms. In addition, there are plenty of opportunities to have fun with friends, with the many planned social activities on top of simply spending time with others - watching a movie in the campus theater, hanging out at the fountain, playing some racquetball, etc.
Bang for the buck
Being a private school, its more on the pricey end, but the quality of education, for both basic and major classes, holds itself up to its cost. As I said before, the professors usually will go the extra mile to help a student learn what he needs to if the student is willing.
Tips for prospective students
*Look into as many of the school scholarships and grants as you can. Even though attending is a bit pricey, IWU offers quite a few different scholarships that can help cut tuition down to a more manageable size.
*Make certain that you will be fine with having to attend chapel three times a week. I've seen this ruin what would have otherwise been an o.k. year for some of my friends who didn't like being required to go.
*Don't be afraid to approach your professors for extra help, as most would be more than willing.
*Try to get off campus every once in a while. While it is quite possible to go the whole year without doing so, there are several interesting places to go around Marion, and it will add a little spice to everyday campus life.
Great for these types of students
*Christian
*Hardworking
*Social
*Those in a spiritual crisis. You will find yourself surrounded by people, both staff and students, who are willing to help see you through.

Am learning a lot
I have only completed a single semester at IWU and I feel that the knowledge I have received, thus far, has been very helpful. However, it has been better in the sense of personal development than professional skills learned. I feel more aware of what I believe, but not necessarily more prepared to enter the job market. I hope that this will change as my academic career here continues.
Am enjoying being here
I do enjoy most of my classes and the student services such as food, recreation, and social opportunities are wonderful. However, I really wish there were a greater connection between IWU and the city of Marion. There is virtually no apparent mutual support between the university and the city. This divide is so apparant that there is even slang term for it: the IWU bubble. As far as the campus itself goes though, the faculty and students are, for the most part, very friendly and personable. Also, the weekends are dead. There might be a home sports game or occasional theatrical event but, in genereal, the campus is like a ghost town on weekends.
Bang for the buck
As with all private schools, IWU is quite expensive. However, they will do whatever they can to help you find financial aid as long as you are willing to hold up your end of the deal and take the time to fill out your FAFSA and such.
Tips for prospective students
1. Start on a Fall semester. (there are much more new student orientation activities and such)
2. Plan out your entire academic career before starting. (this can save you a lot of headache down the road and, hopefully, keep you from beeing in school longer than expected and thus save you money.
3. Look into church matching scholarships. (IWU will match a scholarship from your church up to $900/year)
4. If you are concerned about finding your place in the IWU community, its probably a good idea to live in a freshman dorm for you 1st year.
5. Financially speaking, it can actually be much cheaper to live off campus with some roommates.
6. PLAN CAREFULLY. Some classes are only offered in certain semesters or even every other year.
Great for these types of students
1. Christian. Although you don't have to proffess Christianity to attend IWU, you may have a hard time if you don't - chapel attendance is required.
2. Strong academically. IWU's academics are rigourous, be prepared for lots of homework time.
3. Good writing. Many IWU classes require an unusual amount of writing.
4. Adult. IWU has many satelite campuses and online courses making it convenient for adult/ non-traditional students.

I feel more at home at IWU than I do in my own house with my parents. The people at this school are the most authentic, kindest, and fun people you will ever meet. Just being on the campus, you can feel God's favor for the people who embody faithfulness, self control, gentleness, and love in every area.
Tips for prospective students
Make sure to visit the campus in the spring or fall. Visiting in the summer is good, too but you get a better feel for the student atmosphere during the semester.
Academic Rigor
It varies with each major, but professors at IWU are top notch. They are very experienced in their field and have a lot to offer students. Many of my professors are willing to just sit and have coffee, help when I'm struggling, or pray for me. I would say that if you are a dedicated student, you'll do great!
Dorm Life
I love being in Beckett Hall on the Eastside of campus. There is such camaraderie between the girls in my unit and on my floor. Although we are all sometimes stressed, or really busy, we help one another out. There is nothing that an RA in Beckett wouldn't do for you. They are sooo encouraging. I love our devos every Sunday night, and just being in a constantly supportive community of believers, it's such a beautiful thing.
Food and Dining
IWU has the main dining area called Baldwin (aka Baldy) as well as a mini grocery store (the College store aka the c store) and the glorious wildcat. Wildcat has a deli similar to subway, an actual chick-fil-a, chinese and stir fry, and mexican pick up lines. It's really efficient during the day when the experienced workers are there, but on the weekends, some of the students who work aren't as good at making your food. You have a choice of meal plans and they have meal swipes and points which you can also spend at the IWU coffee shoppe, McConn. McConn is also glorious. Seriously. Better than Starbucks most of the time.
What to do for fun
Hang out with your lovely friends you will undoubtedly make at IWU! Go longboarding! Beach volleyball on campus! Game room with pool, table tennis, foosball, etc. Go out and explore Marion! Hang out in the Townhouses or Lodges with your friends!
Bang for the buck
It's a bit expensive. Go for the scholarships.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
Finals Scream. East Village Christmas Tree Lighting.
Greek Life
There is no greek life at IWU.
Campus Safety
The city of Marion is sorta shady, but campus police is just a phone call away. As long as you have a buddy and your id, you can get into any nearby dorm and be safe.

Indiana Wesleyan is a high academic Christian centered campus. I value the professors, students, and everyone here on campus. I have learned so much already my first semester here.
Tips for prospective students
Take your high school studies seriously and get a high GPA because Indiana Wesleyan gives a lot of academic scholarships. Indiana Wesleyan will prepare you to enter out into the world and have a great nursing and theology department.
Academic Rigor
Indiana Wesleyan wants to best prepare students for a job someday, so the classes can be more difficult, but you learn so much. The professors are always willing to assist you in any way they can.
Dorm Life
I love the dorm life here. The resident assistants make you feel at home, and the dorms are always kept very clean. There is several activities throughout the week to participate in as well.
Food and Dining
The food here is great! The cafeteria, called Baldwin, serves a variety of different foods and we have a Marios and a Wildcat, which has Chick Fil A, subs, burritos, Chinese, and much more!
What to do for fun
There is a nice gym and a workout room! There are three or four dances throughout the semesters, there are retreats held, intramural sports, movies shown in our theater, and always fun people to hang out with!
Bang for the buck
Indiana Wesleyan is a private school, therefore it is more expensive, but they have tons of campus jobs and give a lot of scholarships to help manage the cost.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
We attend chapel three days a week. We start off with worship, then a message by either students, dean of chapel, or an outside source. Chapel has been life changing and moving for me.
Great for these types of students
Students who love God and learning. The professors are amazing and are always available to meet with you after or before class time.
Clubs and Activities
There are intramural sports to play. You can be a resident assistant or diversity coordinator and much more in the dorms. There is a student government, and foreign affairs clubs. There is drama club, cheerleading, chorale, and so much more.
Greek Life
Greek Life is not present at Indiana Wesleyan University.
Campus Safety
There are campus police on duty twenty four hours a day, and are always ready to assist when need be. Indiana Wesleyan is the fourth lowest crime rate campus in America.
