Am learning a lot | As a music major, I am incredibly pleased with the music faculty. They are incredibly knowledgeable, and are very willing to help in everything they can. Other professors are just as willing to do so and are fully qualified to teach their subjects. However, much like any school, you get out of the class what you put into it. Classes can be easy or hard, but it's always what you make of it. |
Am enjoying being here | I truly enjoy this school. I am a second year RA here, and always seek to help my residents and provide activities for entertainment. There are ample opportunities to find people to become friends with, that you will share many interests with, despite the small size of the school. |
Bang for the buck | The quality of education and unique opportunities available for students (including a campus in Rome!!!!) are things that really drew me in. Some of the same stuff is offered at other state schools, but here you receive a lot more individual attention. Yes, the University is private, and thus more expensive, but it is also one of the cheapest private institutions in the country. For the size, quality, and everything, it's hard to beat the school. |
Tips for prospective students | Stay focused and apply for all scholarships. Do your best to get to know your RA and ask a lot of questions. This is a dry and tobacco free campus, so do your best to stay away from that. Make sure you tour and see what campus is like. It's not necessarily to everyone's taste. |
Great for these types of students | Those who truly want the best experience for their undergraduate degree. It's also good for any people who want a quieter campus that's farther away from town. Great for those who want a chance to deepen their faith and have the opportunity to serve in almost any way. |

In three sentences | University of Mary is the only school I looked at that I didn't feel like just another number because everyone was so welcoming. It is not in the city, and I like that because you get to know the people you are with. It is the perfect size, and I would recommend it to anyone looking! |
Tips for prospective students | When you visit, don't be afraid to ask questions and get to know people! It has helped me so much through my entire process. |
Academic Rigor | I have not taken any classes yet, but from talking to people, the staff push you to do your best, and expect the best from you. They want their students to succeed. They care more than most colleges do. |
Dorm Life | Everyone was really nice! I got to meet some people from my hall when I visited, and they were great! Very welcoming. |
Food and Dining | I thought the food was great for cafeteria food. Obviously it wasn't a home cooked meal, but it was still really good! I like that the cafeteria is open 24/7. |
What to do for fun | Lots of organizations around campus put on events. They have a wide variety of events, and they do their best to appeal to every personality. I love how they always have something to do, and something going on. |
Bang for the buck | Most affordable private college I looked at, and actually compared to the state schools I looked at. |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | They encourage you to grow as a person and in your faith which not many other colleges really push you to do. |
Clubs and Activities | There is something for everyone! |
Campus Safety | I felt very safe and comfortable while I was there. |

In three sentences | The University of Mary is a leadership academy that focuses not only on academics, but also on your faith. The small campus life helps with one on one interaction with your professors. I feel so welcomed and at home at the University of Mary, it is the only place I toured and applied to because I fell in love with it on my first visit. |
Tips for prospective students | When looking for a school I recommend going with your heart and on what feels right. Yes your parents may try to push you toward other schools, but if you get the gut feeling that this is where you should be then go for it! |
Academic Rigor | The University of Mary is a very high academic school. In my Athletic Training program it is not easy. I average four tests a week, which means I'm studying every day. Our school encourages our studies by having the library open until ten and during finals week we have a studyathon where students can study in a quiet area and win prizes every hour while they study. |
Dorm Life | I love dorm life at the University of Mary. We have six different dorms at our University. I live in St. Scholastica, which is a woman's faith based dorm. This dorm helps you grow in your faith. If that's not the thing for you there are other dorms that aren't faith based too. Almost every weekend our RA's put on activities for us. |
Food and Dining | The food at the University of Mary is not my favorite but I am a picky eater. I wish we had a wider variety of food to choose from. Chart wells is who caters our food, I can tell they are trying to improve their dining. It takes one step at a time. |
What to do for fun | Every weekend or every other weekend resident life puts on activities so students have something to do other than going home and partying. The activity I enjoy the most are the swing dances. We also have winter formals, Halloween dance, hypnotists come, comedians, movie nights, all campus pumpkin carving, and winter fest. |
Clubs and Activities | At the beginning of the year all the clubs and activities on campus have a day where they have booths so students can see what they would like to join. I'm involved with Vera Forma which is a group for Catholic females to grow in their faith. We do things out in the Bismarck community that benefit the community. I'm also involved in focus bible study. |
Campus Safety | The University of Mary is a very safe campus. We have campus security driving around campus 24/7 and the beginning of the year the Resident Assistance make sure all freshman have campus security number in case they get into an unsafe situation. |
