Am learning a lot | After only a single semester I feel like I've learned a lot from all of my classes so far. Even classes that I thought I would hate have something to learn from. The professors are amazing and willing to talk to you and answer questions you may have, even if it is unrelated to the course material. Other students are also willing to teach others what they have learned so far. |
Am enjoying being here | The small campus is great for me, and with only 2,500 kids the professors have a lot of opportunity to get to know their students. I am an honor's student here and the program is wonderful. It has forced me to explore cultural activities I never thought I'd enjoy. Even outside of campus there is plenty to do. UE's location offers great ways to get away from the books for a while. |
Bang for the buck | Although the school is very expensive (about $34,000 a year), over 90% of students receive some sort of financial aid and/or scholarships. These scholarships are for large amounts with many different categories for all types of students. |
Tips for prospective students | A campus visit is a must! This is the only way to fully understand why everyone says the professors and staff are so friendly. The university doesn't put on a show during their open houses either. Everyone acts as if it was just any other day. Whether you attend Road Trip, Scholarship Day, an open house, or schedule a private visit get to the campus and experience it for yourself. |
Great for these types of students | The University of Evansville is definitely for students who are looking at an academic college. Most students are there on academic scholarship, or are serious about their studies. Although this is the case there are still plenty of parties and activities to encourage people to get away from their books and enjoy the college experience. |

Am learning a lot | UE really has so much to offer in terms of learning, especially on the global front. Not only have I learned a lot from my professors in the classroom on campus, but I've learned so much from the students around me as well. With 8% of students international, how can you not learn something? Plus, the study abroad programs are great. I attend Harlaxton College, UE's English campus, last spring, and this fall I'm studying in Rennes, France through CIEE. Studying abroad has taught me so much about myself, about the world, and, of course, about my subjects of study, too! |
Am enjoying being here | I absolutely love UE!! Although the dorms aren't always the greatest and I complain about the food a lot, the students, professors, and faculty make up for it. I've made so many friends, and from all around the world, too! I could never think of studying anywhere else! |
Bang for the buck | Although UE is a wonderful place to be, it is expensive. $34,000 a year is a lot of money. Especially since it doesn't always seem like that money is going places that I would like it to. However, they are really great about trying to get you the greatest amount of aid as possible, which was a big plus for me. The fact that I pay, after the scholarships and work study, the same amount as attending an in-state college.... That's banking. |
Tips for prospective students | Go for a campus visit--during the school year. You need to be on the campus to truly get a feel for what life is like there. And don't be afraid to contact the admissions office if you have questions, either. They're always really helpful and really friendly. |
Great for these types of students | I would say everyone, really. Although, if you're looking to party your way through school, be forewarned that it's a dry campus! Also, there is a Greek pressence on campus. The fraternities are all right around the corner (literally). However, the sororities don't have any house; has to do with an old Indiana law that never got thrown out. But although there is a Greek pressence, it's certainly not the only thing on campus either. There's also a really strong international pressence, and some really great organizations to go along with that: International Student Club, I-House, and I-Pals. Honestly, there truly is something for everyone here. |

Am learning a lot | While some of the classes seem quite similar to high school honor and AP courses, there are many, even at the 100-level that are challenging. The professors like what they are teaching which makes the lectures interesting and they put what they are trying to say into a way for college students to understand. Also, they make the students try for the answer and make them think outside of the box for how to explain problems. |
Am enjoying being here | Since it is a small school, it is easy to know most of the students here. This makes it great for getting involved in activities such as Greek Life, Student Government or International Club. There are so many different organizations that you will always find something to do. |
Bang for the buck | Because it is a private school, tuition and other fees are really expensive, but it's worth it. Many of the facilities are brand new and have the best technology which makes paying this much worth it. |
Tips for prospective students | Go potluck to find your roommate your freshman year: they are great at pairing up people who you will get along with well and have similar interests as you. |
Great for these types of students | This university is great for students who are looking into studying abroad since there are so many choices to choose from, and your scholarships will travel with you wherever you go. Also there is a really good Physical Therapy and Nursing program. It is great for Engineering students too. |

In three sentences | A very small school in southern Indiana where everyone is generally friendly. A very close campus community with plenty to do and a lot of clubs and organizations to choose from. I can not walk across campus without at least one person saying Hi, how are you? |
Tips for prospective students | Stay in a dorm. They are not terrible and it is a good experience. . Check out Greek life. It may not be for you but it is still a good option to have to be able to get involved and meet people. Go to sporting events and support your Purple Aces. GO TO HARLAXTON! JUST DO IT! I promise you will have the time of your life. I have not talked to one person who said they did not enjoy Harlaxton. It was incredible and you should go to Harlaxton no matter what major you decide. |
Academic Rigor | You will be challenged at the University of Evansville. Despite how great your grades were in high school, either the person on your right or the person on your left had just as good if not better grades than you. As long as you work hard and stay on top of things, you should be able to pass your classes. |
Dorm Life | My hall kept us active. We had activities almost weekly. We had open door nights where they would hand out cookies to everyone who kept their door open. Most of the dorm halls aren't that big so you get familiar with most of the people around you. Bathrooms are much nicer than I anticipated. |
Food and Dining | I would consider the food hit and miss. Some days you will find something great but then others the only thing that looks decent is a slice of pizza or a burger. Overall, it could be better but it isn't the worst cafeteria food I have had. |
What to do for fun | Evansville is a rather large city and has quite a bit to do. There is a large mall, Eastland Mall, not to far away. Wesselman's Nature Park has great trails in the middle of the city very close to UE. Just remember to bring bug spray during warmer days. Swonder Ice Arena is right down the road and is open year round for ice skating. Walther's Golf and Fun is a giant indoor mini golf and arcade. It also has laser tag on the second floor. If you want to feel like a kid again then that is the place to go. Skyzone Trampoline park is also close to UE and is a lot of fun. Burdette park is another large park on the west end of town near University of Southern Indiana. Also the Ford Center always has great concerts in it. I have seen Eric Church and then next month I am going to see Jason Aldean and Thomas Rhett at the Ford Center. The Evansville Icemen are a hockey team that plays in the Ford Center also. They even have monster truck rallies in the Ford Center. There is also a lot to do on campus if you don't feel like going off of campus. |
Bang for the buck | Despite the base cost which might turn off some people, UE gives out so many grants and scholarships that my tuition was about the same as what I would have paid at a state school. They now have the UE Guarantee which mainly says if you don't finish your bachelors degree in 4 years then the 5th year will be free. I am getting a great degree from a well respected school. Definitely a great bang for the buck. |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | We have the oval which is the main area in front of the administration building. If you stand directly in the middle and shout, you can hear this crazy sounding echo from the surrounding buildings. Of course a tradition that is unusual is called the naked oval, which you could probably guess what that includes... |
Great for these types of students | If you like small towns and small schools and you like to know everyone you have class with then UE would be great for you. Also all the classes are very small especially after your freshman year. I have gotten very close to my academic advisor and a few of my professors. It makes going to them for questions and help much easier. All my professors have been very approachable. Also if you like to travel or you simply want to study abroad then apply now. UE has the #1 study abroad program in the nation and we have our own giant manor house in England that nearly half of the college attends. I just got back from Harlaxton College and it was one of the best experiences of my life! If that appeals to you then apply for UE! |
Clubs and Activities | There are 136 clubs and organizations on campus so there is bound to be at least one or more that appeals to you. |
Greek Life | Between 30 to 40 percent of UE students are involved in Greek life. UE is technically a dry campus but let's just say it rains quite often. There are 6 fraternities and 6 sororities. I would suggest at least rushing or just visit the houses in your own time if you know someone in the house. According to multiple sources who attend USI, UE parties are much better than USI parties so if you are into that scene then you will find it here at UE. |
Campus Safety | I always feel safe walking around campus whether it is at night alone or daytime. You occasionally see campus security around but not all that often. UE is a very small campus so they do not patrol much. There has been no reported assaults or robberies or stabbings or anything of that nature on or around campus while I have attended. I heard stories of the Subway across the street getting robbed a few times but that is all I have heard. |

Am learning a lot | As a liberal arts college, the University of Evansville is expanding my mind through my general education in addition to teaching me about my interests through my major classes. Although keeping up with my studies takes dedication on my part and a large time commitment, the rewards of my expanded knowledge are worth it. A student can also learn a lot outside of the classroom from the many international students on campus and the events these student put on. My mind has also been opened to the beauty of the theatre program on campus through attending the productions. A student also has the opportunity to learn about oneself through living away from home and having the interaction of living with a roommate. In all areas, including in and out of the classroom, I am learning as much as I can here at U.E. |
Am enjoying being here | With many activities going on constantly on campus, there is always something to do when you are not studying. I enjoy much time in the student fitness center in addition to attending Division I athletic events and participating in athletics myself through the dance team. In addition to athletics, there are a myriad of clubs available to join on campus and countless opportunities to get involved. If you are looking for an interactive campus, this is the place for you. Because the University of Evansville is not a suitcase campus, as a student you have more of an opportunity to form lasting friendships with your fellow students. With some activity always going on or studying to do, I am immensely enjoying my time on campus. |
Bang for the buck | Although the University of Evansville is a private university and therefore more expensive than many public colleges, the extra dollars are definitely worth what you get out of the university. Also, the financial aid office is extremely helpful and works with you to help you come up with a payment plan and in answering any questions you may have. My mind has been expanded through this liberal arts education and through interactions with students. This campus really turns into your new home once you arrive and you find a secondary family in your fellow students and professors. Because the campus is so small, you really have the opportunity to form lasting relationships with your professors. They are always eager to answer any questions or write recommendations for you. In the long run, the education and relationships you obtain from this university far outweighs the increased price for being a private school. |
Tips for prospective students | Do not overlook this university solely because of finances. They give phenomenal scholarships and are extremely helpful. Also, be sure to take the time to get to know all the diverse students around you on campus. Much can be learned from a simple conversation with an international student and lasting bonds can be formed. As a prospective student, I encourage you to physically come to campus and take a tour and even spend the night with a current student (this can be set up by the admissions office). This will help you to get the true feel of campus and ensure you are well informed before making your decision. |
Great for these types of students | If you are looking for a college to seem like a second home, this is the place for you. With a small student body, this university is great for those students desiring to be more than a number. If you are looking for a college where you are familiar with the majority of people and where all your professors know you and are genuinely concerned with your education, you will find your home at U.E. Because this is a Division I school, the University of Evansville is great for those students looking for the full college experience in a small school environment while desiring a quality education. |

In three sentences | The University of Evansville is a very close-knit community. The small classes allow you to know your professors, and get any extra help that is needed. Everybody is very friendly, and always willing to help. |
Tips for prospective students | If there is a class that you might have a bit of trouble in, don't be afraid to talk to the professor. They are always willing to help, and if you would rather ask a student in your class, they are always happy to help. Your advisor is always there for you too, and can help you with almost anything. |
Academic Rigor | Academics are very important at the University of Evansville. Since the classes are generally small, the professor can get to know you better, and is always willing to help with any problems you may have with the class. |
Dorm Life | Living in a dorm is just part of college life. You get to know your roommate as the first person usually in your dorm, but soon after you get to know most of the people on your floor. The resident assistants who live on the same dorm floor as you will hold floor events to get to know your floor better, and are always there to help you if you have any concerns. |
Food and Dining | The cafeteria is the main source of meals, especially for freshman or those who don't like to cook. You always get plenty of food to eat, and there is a good variety. For those that like to cook, there is a kitchen in every dorm, or if you just need a quick coffee, right next to the cafeteria is our coffee shop. Next to that is a small convenience store, which you can go to if you ever wanted to grab something quick from there. |
What to do for fun | At the University of Evansville, there is something for everybody to do. Most people join clubs, such as the Venturing Crew, Medieval Society, Foreign language clubs, and many others also. If there are no clubs you are interested in, then if you can find a few people and an advisor, you can start your own club! |
Clubs and Activities | There are plenty of clubs on campus, and tons of activities. The student activity board (SAB) hosts many free events for students to go to and just have fun. There is even a few dances on campus every year. |
Campus Safety | Since the University of Evansville is a very small school, campus security is great. They are always there if you need them, and if you were to ever feel unsafe, they are very willing to escort you to where you need to go. |

Am learning a lot | The University may not be the most academically challenging school in the nation, but there are so many options to learn outside of the classroom. I have learned a lot about other cultures through the diverse student population and I feel that after only one year, UE has made me a global citizen. |
Am enjoying being here | I love UE. The professors are welcoming and helpful. The other students are happy to be here. People really care about you. |
Bang for the buck | The school is expensive. The only objection I have is that it is not well known outside of the Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois area. |
Tips for prospective students | Do a campus visit. It was only after my campus visit and talking to professors that I knew UE was the place for me. |
Great for these types of students | Motivated students who want to get the most out of their college experience. UE offers a lot of cultural activities that students can benefit from. |

In three sentences | The University of Evansville is a friendly campus that offers a great environment to pursue your career goals while also offering great opportunities to get involved and explore the world. The campus is a close-knit community which allows you to really get to know your professors and fellow classmates better. The community at Evansville is one that I am proud to be a part of. |
Tips for prospective students | If you want to fully understand what the Evansville campus is like, you have to visit!! My tip is to try and visit more than once and at least once while school is in session. I found the campus staff and students to be consistently welcoming and helpful and that consistency played a major part in why I chose the university. Also, it gives you a chance to talk to different people and hear an array of advice and perspectives about the university. |
Academic Rigor | I believe that the professors are very knowledgeable and push you to do your best. They expect a lot out of you as a college student because this is your education and your future career now, but they are also very supportive and willing to help when you need it. You have to put in a lot of work, but the outcome is well worth it. |
Dorm Life | I think the dorm life is pretty average for a college campus. I was in a dorm that was pretty quiet throughout the year and was a good place to study for me personally. My dorm had the things I needed: a kitchen, laundry room, and showers. We also had a computer lab which was really convenient when I needed to print something out. It was a low-key dorm but that worked perfectly for me. Other dorms tended to be a little more social from what I hear. |
Food and Dining | The food and dining was nothing spectacular, but it was decent for cafeteria food. Some days were better than others. The hours of dining were shorter than I would have liked and I often missed meals, but the university has a small convenience store where you can also get food anytime of the day. |
What to do for fun | I believe that the university has plenty of ways to get involved. There are always tons of events going on. They have weekly movie nights with popcorn and special events on Fridays when comedians come in to give a private show. There are tons of ways to get involved too. You just have to be willing to look around and listen for them. |

In three sentences | The university has competent and caring professors that give each student the attention they need. I feel as though Evansville is a home away from home because I feel extremely comfortable there and have made lasting friends. Evansville has one of the best programs for my field of study and has professors teaching that are still active in the field as well. |
Tips for prospective students | If you can, attend road trip. It is a great way to get to know the school and some of your future classmates. It gives the opportunity to visit mock classes and go to fun events around campus too. While they school is amazing, it is a private school and therefore is costly. You will have to keep up work on scholarships if you're someone like me and affording college is a concern. The cost is definitely worth it though. The school is welcoming and creates a small close-knit community. |
Academic Rigor | If you keep up in your classes, you shouldn't have any issues. Don't get behind on reading and try to not procrastinate on long term projects. Some classes aren't very difficult and some will take a lot of study time out of your day. I think it is a good balance. I still have time for all my rehearsals and time to be involved in sorority. |
Dorm Life | All the dorms are great. There are different options for dorms. There is an all girls dorm and all guys dorm. There are also multiple coed dorms that separate boys and girls by floor or by section. There are also apartment and townhouse options for upper classmen. |
Food and Dining | There is a decent variety of food at the cafe court. If you don't have a regular eating schedule you can also get meals from the little convenient type store on campus. |
What to do for fun | I spend most of my free time hanging out with sorority sisters watching movies or doing stuff like karaoke and playing video games. Sometimes we will go out to mall as well or go for a hike at the nearby nature preserve. |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | Echo point. It is a spot in the front of campus by the flag poles that if you stand in the very center, it amplifies your voice. |
Greek Life | I would definitely recommend Greek life. It gives people the opportunity to meet new people and make forever friends. |

In three sentences | I couldn't have asked for a better school! A small and very beautiful campus that feels like home. The students and staff become a family of love and support through the entire experience, and Harlaxton study abroad program in England is THE BEST! |
Tips for prospective students | Get involved (Student Christian Fellowship, Intramurals, Greek Life, etc.)! Watch the plays produced by UE Theatre! And whatever you do, you MUST go to Harlaxton. |
Academic Rigor | They make you work your butt off, but it is so worth it. |
Dorm Life | Dorm's are great and have lots of fun stuff to do in the basements. There are usually activities going on throughout the year that the dorms put on as well, great times! :) |
Food and Dining | A lot of people complain about cafeteria food, but here is some really great food! Lot's of variety and highly nutritional! (And some not so nutritional if you want, but I suggest going with the good stuff!) ;P |
What to do for fun | Hang out with friends, watch the plays by UE Theatre, play intramural sports. There is a lot of fun stuff on campus, you just gotta look for it. |
Bang for the buck | It's a private school, so it's kinda pricy. But they give out SO many scholarships that when you look at it, it's really just as expensive as any other college. And Harlaxton is SO awesome. |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | Echo point. It echoes. And Harlaxton! <3 |
Great for these types of students | Any student who values hard work, having fun, and being awesome. |
Clubs and Activities | Student Christian Fellowship, Intramural sports, Renaissance club, and many many others. |
Greek Life | I hear that it has a great Greek Life opportunities. - And lot's of parties if your in to that sort of thing. |
Campus Safety | A local Subway has gotten robbed three times in my two years and has ordered the campus to be on lock down. Nothing major though. Campus security is great and you can call them up any time at all and they will respond, pretty awesome. |
