Will learn a lot
I recently transferred from a 4 year public college closer to my home, to Towson University mainly because of their Business Program. At Towson, they were very professional and the students and teachers knew fully what they were talking about compared to the other college I attended. I like how it is a bit challenging to get into the School of Business because that will show my future employers that I am a hard working student. They also have that exact program I want to study which is a major in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and Public Relations.
Will enjoy being here
Absolutely. I already met a few people from my orientation that I have kept in touch with through facebook. The campus is absolutely gorgeous and is in walkable distances to the local strip where there is a starbucks, movie theater, mall, and over 100 restaurants. Also only 20 minutes away from downtown baltimore. The harbor is so nice and many great activities to do. I am also living in the apartments which have a full kitchen/ living room and 1 and a half bathrooms.
Bang for the buck
It is a little expensive compared to my former college but that is considering I am out of state. But not too overly expensive that I am having trouble paying for tuition.
Tips for prospective students
Definitely check out the campus and talk to current students and faculty. That will help make your decision right on the spot.
Great for these types of students
Students that love to be apart of campus life and work hard academically.

Am learning a lot
I have just completed my first semester at Towson. Last semester I took 5 classes. I'm an art major so two of my classes are art classes. In the classes i took i honestly learned a lot. Each of my teachers went in depth in their courses and although i did have one very impatient teacher, the rest were happy to help with anything you didn't understand.
Am enjoying being here
I love Towson and am very happy I chose this. Before I enrolled i took a tour and i knew this was the school i wanted to attend. When walking around there are always people outside, unlike many other schools I've visited. The walk from my dorm to my classes isn't that bad and maybe takes 5 minutes at most. There is usually something to do every night and a lot of school programs are offered. There are a lot of clubs and I found it fairly easy to make friends. There are a lot of sororities and fraternities which is very popular here, but you don't have to be in one to have fun.
Bang for the buck
I pay in-state tuition and i think its a reasonable price price for the quality of education.
Tips for prospective students
I would suggest taking a tour or visiting the campus before enrolling, that will really tell you if you belong. Also i would suggest going to the on campus events, at least for the first month. In September they have a month with things to do everyday. Freshman are given a carnival which is fun to go to for at least a little while. And although many freshman don't want to take part in the planned activities on their Dorm Floor i would suggest going. I had a lot of fun on my floor and is how i made my first friends.
Great for these types of students
I think Towson's good for all types of students. They have activities and clubs for every type of person and everyone is given a fair chance to make friends.

Overall, I think Towson University is a wonderful school! I originally was going to go to another university in Philadelphia, however I fell in love with Towson while on a college tour. One thing that I especially love is that because it is a big school, I am always meeting someone new.
Tips for prospective students
For any future students, I would first tell them to live on campus for freshman year. By doing this, you are more likely to meet new friends who are also freshman. It is also more convenient than commuting.
Academic Rigor
With the help of my academic advisor, I was able to plan my semesters to a schedule that I can personally handle. I was also lucky enough to receive professors who are always willing to lend a helping hand. Since coming to Towson, I have learned that the trick to mastering your coarse load is to challenge yourself within your own limits.
Dorm Life
Whenever a friend of mine, who does not attend school here, comes to visit, they almost always complement how nice my dorm building is. It seems that living on campus is where and when you make most of your friends in college. I, for instance met my best friend at Towson, who happens to live directly below me.
Food and Dining
Compared to other campuses that I have visited, the food at Towson University is very impressive. My personal favorite places to eat are the sushi bar located in the University Union and Jamba Juice, which serves an array of healthy fruit and vegetables smoothies, in the West Village Commons. Also, if you feel like eating off campus, there is a Chipotle in walking distance that allows you to use your meal plan.
What to do for fun
Because Towson University is so close to Baltimore City and other local colleges, the possibilities of fun activities are vast. One minute I am having lunch at the Towson Mall with a friend from Johns Hopkins University, and the next minute I am taking pictures at the National Aquarium. On top of that, I have been to plays, basketball games, film screenings, and talent shows that have been held right here on campus.
Bang for the buck
Because I already live within the state of Maryland, I use the train to go home. Instead of taking the more expensive trains, I use the Marc train. Tickets cost $5 for students and they have several stops that go all throughout Maryland to Washington D.C.

Every Halloween, Towson hosts an event called Glen-tastrophe. In the Glen forest, volunteers dress up as monsters and scare the students who walk through at night. At the last one, a group of friends and I were able to volunteer as zombies.
Great for these types of students
Towson is a great school for outgoing students. Although this is one of the largest schools in Maryland, it has a small school feeling. The classroom sizes are also small, so students can receive more attention from their professors.
Clubs and Activities
At Towson, there are more clubs and organizations than I can count. Furthermore, you can create a club of your own if you wish! A guy in my dorm building for example, created a hiking club for students who are interested in staying fit while enjoying the outdoors.
Campus Safety
I can honestly say that I am able to walk around campus, and not have to constantly look over my shoulder. I spend a great deal of my weeknights in the library, and I always see a security guard present as I am leaving. Also, anytime or anywhere on campus, I can see a blue light emergency call box near and available.

Towson has so many classes you can choose from with great professors. There are classes I took in high school that I needed to retake at Towson where I learned so much more than I did originally. I haven't had any negative problems and was even on the Dean's List!
Am enjoying being here
I adore Towson! It's so close to Baltimore and has plenty to do within walking distance. There's a mall, a Barnes & Noble, a Record and Tape Traders, a public library, and a huge used bookstore all within 10 minutes of walking from campus. And Towson's campus is just fun to lay around on during nice days and super fun to go sledding on during the winter! And the food is great!
Bang for the buck
Towson has a medium tuition/room and board rate, but I think it's worth it. There are other places I could of gone for cheaper, but I don't think it would have been right for me. I wouldn't of slide into the school so well, and probably wouldn't of done as well in classes.
Tips for prospective students
Don't bring a car unless you absolutely have to. Towson doesn't normally give out freshman parking passes, and it's seriously a waster of money if you manage to get one. You can walk everywhere, and there's a bus system, so why pay for gas?
Great for these types of students
If you're a city kid, this is a great place for you. It's not in the middle of nowhere. Also, it's a great school for prospective teachers. Towson has a great education program which I'll be entering in the coming semesters.

I loved being an asset at Towson University, because college has provided me with a well-rounded education on integrity and artistic sensibilities. My college curriculum provided me with complementary skills to use after graduating, as well as expanding my opportunities for personal growth. My professors at Towson taught me to embody a professional attitude which emphasizes motivation, determination, respect, civility, communication, maturity, commitment, and staying organized by: being prepared for class, on time for class, and respecting each teacherâ??s requirements, and being attentive.
Academic Rigor
I found some classes to be more challenging than others but overall a good balance.
Dorm Life
Live on campus if you can because you'll meet some many people that. The dorms themselves were pretty nice for dorm life.
West village is the newest set o dorms, while the towers are where a majority of people live and they're closer to most of your classes.
Food and Dining
It's college not a home cooked meal every night. The food isn't bad and places like Newell Dining Hall/ The Den, West Village Commons, Au Bon Pain, and the union ( sus, p-tux and paws) are your best choices to survive.
What to do for fun
Towson has events that happen on and off campus. Towson is 20 minutes away from the city and a train ride from DC so they're is always something to do. You shouldn't get bored.
Bang for the buck
Towson has the mall right up the street so you can normally get pretty good deals there. Uptown is awesome if your old enough to get in. Marc train can get you to DC for like $7 dollars.
Clubs and Activities
There are over 60 clubs and activities on campus. You can create your own club if there isn't one you prefer. Football games, Tigerfest and Homecoming are the biggest events majority of the campus will go to out of the year.
Greek Life
We have it, no they don't have their houses.
Campus Safety
TUPD ... enough said.

Truth be told, college really isn't all about grades and the classes you take. It is more about making connections and finding out what you plan on doing with your life. Once that soul finding is complete, the classes and the grades work themselves out. At Towson, you will find the right environment to find yourself. You will meet professors that will help you succeed and, more importantly, you will discover what it is that you are best at and what it is that you would like to spend the rest of your life doing. You will learn a lot at Towson University, and you will have a fun time doing it.

This campus is beautiful. Period. The construction that has been taking place on Towson University since 2008 have turn this campus from a historical landmark to the cutting edge of new architectures and pleasant environments. IN the fall, the campus comes to life with the colors of the changing season. In the winter, Towson transforms to a cool snowy paradise. In the spring and summer, Towson comes to life with activities and new and interesting people to meet. There is never a dull moment on this campus!
Bang for the buck
As a commuter, I pay less then $10,000 a year at Towson University. I save an enormous amount of money on school books, tuition costs, and other fees that would otherwise be overwhelming for a relatively broke college student. Towson is both reasonable in price and excellent in quality when you take into consideration the amount of education and proper attention that the professors of Towson University supply their students. You will not find better bang for your buck anywhere else in Maryland!
Tips for prospective students
Have fun, stay safe, and make sure to show up to class on time! College can be a breeze as long as you balance fun with serious academic effort. Do as much as possible while on campus; participate in extra curricular activities and take classes that you will enjoy. Do not be afraid to meet new people and always remember to be yourself! If you do these things, you'll find that college with blow by and you will have grown into a better person for it! P.S. Remember to sign up for classes early, they fill up quick!
Great for these types of students
That's the thing about Towson University; it's great for ALL kinds of students! It doesn't matter where you're from, or where you plan on going in life for that matter! You will find something that suits you perfectly at Towson University!

I'm a Biology Major/Chemistry minor adnthey have some of the best professors here. They really know what they're talking about and if you're interested and do some of your own snooping around you can find some geat opportunities for reasearch or shadowing professors in every major.
Am enjoying being here
I'm not exactly homesick but I miss the quietness sometimes. I don't live in the country, but especially on campus college kids tend to be loud. I'm nota huge fan of the dorms myself but on campus actvities, clubs, organizations, and whatnot will keep you busy and there is ALWAYS something to do. I just wish they had a decent diner in the area, but the other food places are amazing.
Bang for the buck
Especially being out of state I feel like I'm over-paying considering in-state is less than half of what I'm paying.
Tips for prospective students
Take a tour and make sure you know what you want, especially for housing. As of Fall'10 they're finishing up a lot of construction on teaching buildings, but moving onto reconstructing a lot of the residence halls. Living on campus is always an option and tends to be cheaper, plus no RAs and there is a shuttle if you don't have a car.

Also, buy points. The meal plan is a scam unless you like/live close to a dining hall (Glen complex or Newell). It'll probably aid in keeping you from the freshman 15 too.
Great for these types of students
Towson is one of the top colleges for Accepting of Alternative Lifestyles (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) and most people are very accepting. I feel that races are very segregated though and its disappointing. Towson is also #1 friendly school for vegans and vegetarians. There are tons of food options, even for those who keep Kosher.

The teachers at Towson are amazing. they honestly care about you as a student and as long as you're willing to put in the work they will help you get the grade you're working for. College is truly a new experience and Towson is the perfect place to teach you responsibility for yourself and preparedness for the real world
Am enjoying being here
The people here are great. There's an awesome mixture of cultures and you can find your niche no matter what it is!
Bang for the buck
TU probably has the best education for the best price in Maryland. I checked out so many other school before Towson and either the education didn't measure up to a high price or a low price meant less quality, but here the teachers, students, and TU community is exceeds its price.
Tips for prospective students
GET INVOLVED. The more you get involved on campus, the more people you'll meet and the better your college experience will be. Towson has a club/society for everything out there and if they dont you can always create one. I highly recommend greek life! Going greek isn't only for rich snobby kids but for everyone. There's an amazing mix of people in fraternities and sororities and they enhance who you are through philanthropy, group study sessions, and greek socials. You'll meet alot of people and truly learn about yourself as a person.

A great University with a high level of diversity and beautiful buildings. People are really friendly and having a student-faculty ratío of 17:1 it is easier to have everyone in classes. There is always some sort of event going on around campus which makes it impossible to be bored.
Tips for prospective students
Always be opened to going to the events happening around campus because it is the best way to make new fríends especially with Towson students.Walking around campus can take a while but if you are ever in a hurry you can take a shuttle. West Village Commons is worth the distance for the best food on campus.
Academic Rigor
Depending on the classes that you will be taking, the academic standards overall are semi-challenging. It is nothing that studying a couple of hours a day cant solve.
Dorm Life
Towson has awesome resident halls. Being part of the Newell Hall community we all get along and have activities with our floor every once in a while to interact with members that form that comminity. Everyone is really supportive of each other.
Food and Dining
The best food you will find is at West Village Commons. The dining hall is packed with a variety of dishes that are exquisit. There is also a mini market on the first floor named Outtakes as well as Panda Express. Other dining halls such as Glenn and Newell are also great. There is Au BonPain on the Hawkins building, i have never eaten there but everyone seems to enjoy it
What to do for fun
Everything, ranging fron sports to karaoke nights at Paws. There is never nothing to do at Towson. Just have to go out of yout dorm to find these events.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
Walking ariund campus can take some stress of your chest. SECU Arena is by far the longest walk you can take.
Clubs and Activities
LASO and SAGE are great clubs with new activities every week. Its the best way to also relieve some stress.
Campus Safety
There is always TUPD for any reported incidents occurring around campus. There are also emergency-reach stations scattered through campus to facilitate the reporting of ongoing incidents.
