Am enjoying being here | Fisher is a close-knitted community. There is both good and bad which can be associated with this. The good is that everyone knows everyone so helpful people are just about everywhere. There are also lots of great activities which you can get immersed in. The bad is that it's hard to see new faces after a while. |
Bang for the buck | Activities wise: I'm not sure how many more clubs are needed. However, if you feel like nothing catches your attention, you could always petition to start a new club. |
Great for these types of students | -Those seeking a small college. -Those who want easy access to Downtown Rochester. |

Am learning a lot | Some of the classes aren't too hard or very interesting, but Fisher has an outstanding science program for nursing or heathcare majors as well as a great education program. I'm currently undeclared and have been taking a wide array of classes. The anthropology classes are unique and made me start to seriously consider majoring in anthropology. The English classes are very interesting too. As a freshman, you're required to take a joint English and content class. Together they teach you how to transform what you learn into a good writing piece. |
Am enjoying being here | There are a lot of sponsored activities...movie nights, comedians, henna tattoos, caricatures, trips, Sunday night football. A huge number of clubs that you can join. Living in a small dorm room with 2 other people and sharing a bathroom with 5 people can be a little hard, but it isn't as bad as I thought it would be. |
Bang for the buck | The meal plan is extremely expensive but the food is amazing. A sandwich station, grill, pizza & pasta bar, stir fry, salad bar, bagel/toast station, deserts, cereal, and 5 places where they have specials of the day... it's well worth the price. There's also cafes around campus that take meal swipes and a late night cafe. The bookstore is more expensive than it should be so try to get your books somewhere else. It's a little pricey, but there are merit scholarships as well as an Honors program and Science Scholars that will give you money if you apply and get in. |
Tips for prospective students | Don't be too nervous when you first start. It's really not as bad as you think. I was terrified and there was no reason to be. The peer adviser you get for the first semester and orientation team is really nice, don't be afraid to ask them questions. Don't worry about making a fool of yourself during orientation (especially not Playfair!). Everyone is nervous and if one person can start to make jokes, everyone will be more comfortable. |
Great for these types of students | Outgoing students, education or biology/chemistry majors. People who aren't afraid of having too many student loans. |

The Teddi Dance for love is a 24 hour dance-a-thon which raises money for childhood cancer in accordance with Camp Good Days and Special Times. Thousands of participants and dollars are raised each year by members of the community and the school as well. Each fall, Fisher participates in a charity football game with a local college at a neutral site to raise money for Camp Good Days, and incorporates many children who have, or are currently battling life threatening diseases. |
