Will learn a lot
RMU has very very nice facilities, especially with their medical engineering programs. Everyone there is willing to help and friendly.
Will enjoy being here
Like I said, everyone I met there was very pleasant and helpful. The campus was so nice and had such a diverse and sophisticated feel to it. Anyone could find their nook there they have almost any activity available and if you want to start a club you can.
Bang for the buck
For the quality of the campus, education, and everyone there the price is decent. Plus, they really help you pay if you need it.
Tips for prospective students
Just visit and talk to people from your program and any activities you're interested in.
Great for these types of students
focused and ones that want to really grow and find themselves in college

The courses are not too easy or too strenuous, and the teachers I have had are helpful but do not baby their students by any stretch. The campus is beautiful and easy to navigate, and the residence halls and campus facilities are great. Overall, I love RMU.
Tips for prospective students
Really get involved if you come to RMU - we have a lot of opportunity to be involved in the theatre, tv station, and radio, as well as the newspaper and literary journal. Also, there's a club or organization to suit virtually everyone.
Academic Rigor
My experience may be slightly swayed because I'm a media arts student and my first semester included a communication skills course, a math course, intro to psychology, and an art and a video course. So, the communication skills class was the only traditionally rigorous course (assignments and papers), while the art courses were a drawing per week or the production elements of a project. But, from my experience in my first week of my second semester, I'm seeing that this will be a more rigorous set or courses for me. So, it varies but overall the work can be a challenge, but I don't believe it could ever bury you. And in any such case, we offer free tutoring services.
Dorm Life
Living on campus was the best choice I ever made. I have made the best friends of my life in the semester I have been a resident student at RMU. And even beyond that, the Student Life department does a very good job of ensuring there are things to do on campus. Primarily we screen a movie almost every Friday and we have open mic every Tuesday night. Then, there's almost always something more. Also, a lot of the dorms will host their own events.
Food and Dining
The food is delicious, and it is real food. The cafeteria consists of an Italian station, a various fancy dinner kind of place, an Asian station, a burger and fry station, and a bakery and smoothie shop. It sounds simple as explained that way, but they have some wild food choices, You could get steak, filet mignon, or lobster, and we even have a wing night.
What to do for fun
Refer to my review of Dorm Life.

Robert Morris University lives up to what it claims to be. It is business school and is all about it's business of turning out successful graduates. The Career Center will place you in a position that will make full use of your skills and talents.
Tips for prospective students
For any student out there that is considering RMU as a potential school there are a few things you need to know. First, this is a business school first and foremost, and the staff here is all about business. If you are looking to party in excess; seek your education elsewhere. Second, the professors here are really great and if you put forth some effort then they will help you as much as they can. They genuinely care if their students succeed.
Dorm Life
The standard dorms are not the greatest thing, but they are far from the worst I've experienced. The apartments are a good option if you can afford it. The Suites in Washington are probably the best option if you want to live on campus. Yorktown is good but kinda far away from campus if you don't have a car. Braddock is not bad either. But for the love of all that is decent avoid Gallatin like the plague
Food and Dining
The Food here gets three stars because it is good, but there is not a lot of variety and you may tire of it after your fist semester. However there are a lot of off campus options for food with in walking distance.
What to do for fun
RMU isn't too far away from Pittsburgh and Robinson Mall; so if you have a car then you are set. However if you do not have car then their are quite a few school sponsored events on campus that you can find to fill your time.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
Robert Morris University, RMU, RoMo, Bobby Mo, Robby Bobby, and Good ole Robert Morris are all acceptable terms for the school.
Sweall is pronounced Sueal and not Sea Wall.
Great for these types of students
Robbert Morris is good for driven students that want to be leaders in their field and communities
Clubs and Activities
Even though RMU is a small school. There are a truly massive amount of clubs, interest groups, and professional groups on campus. I am sure that a prospective student will find something to his or her liking. However if you can not find one the you can simply make one. the office of Student life is really helpful and is staff with great people that will work to make your vision a reality
Greek Life
Robert Morris has four NIC/IFC fraternities, three Panhellenic sororities and has two MPHC Greek letter groups as well. I am bias because I belong to a fraternity but I truly believe that RMU is one if the safest places to pledge to Greek Life. And this comes from some one whos was completely against Greek Life in high school. I found a home among my brothers and when times are hard and I can't make it on my own I know that they have my back and I wont have to do it on my own. Oh, and there is of course the parties. RAGE!
Campus Safety
Most people complain about the Campus police but even though they are a pain in the rear, they do take their job seriously and do a fine job of protecting the campus at large. Plus there are emergency lights place through out campus.

Am learning a lot
Robert Morris is greatly known for their facilities! The professors there are very professional and have a lot of experience with what they are teaching. The professors also want you to do well so they try and get you to participate and study. It is really nice too because the student teacher ratio is so small.
Am enjoying being here
I do not live on campus because I live so close to the school, but the time I am there for my classes and breaks I have are very enjoyable. The professors have a way to teach that keeps you interested so it is enjoyable for you. Also, there is a lot of diversity which is cool too to learn about others' cultures. There are a lot of clubs and activities of all sorts you can get involved in!
Bang for the buck
Yes, RMU is very expensive, but with what you are getting out of the college it is really worth your money! Also, if you are in need of money for tuition, they really help you out.
Tips for prospective students
Definitely open up, talk to, and get to know your fellow students as well as the professors. Especially if you are in a specific major it definitely helps with networking for finding a job! Also, get involved your freshman year!
Great for these types of students
This school is for very determined students. Students that are eager to do well! From the effort the professors put out, you as a student need to give back an equal effort, this goes for any college!!

Bang for the buck
It is a private school, so it is a bit expensive, but financial aid will really try to help you out if you are PERSISTENT.
Tips for prospective students
Visit the school before you check yes to attend. That is very important as you will see first hand what reviews cannot tell you.
Great for these types of students
If you are looking to only party and socialize, I would not suggest RMU to you. But if you are serious about your education and are looking for chances to be a part of an ever growing and changing environment where you can create anything you want, this is the place for you. Especially business, nursing and engineering majors.

RMU has provided me with everything possible to be successful in both academics as well as life in general. The faculty are so passionate about teaching and every class I have taken has been enjoyable. I look forward to every day there and will be sad to leave after I graduate!
Tips for prospective students
Join as many clubs and organizations as possible! It is the best way to meet people who are interested in the same things you are, whether it be sports, activities, majors, even religion.
Academic Rigor
I have been challenged in all of my classes.
Dorm Life
Although I myself am a commuter, I have friends in almost every dorm and have seen first hand just how nice they are. The apartments are absolutely beautiful.
Food and Dining
The cafeteria is exquisite. There is something for everyone, and there are tons of healthy choices. You don't even feel like you are eating in a cafeteria! RMU has even gone so far as to put little cafes in some of the buildings across campus, making it easy and convenient to grab a coffee or a snack when you are on the run!
What to do for fun
There is always something to do on campus. Whether it be karaoke night in the cafeteria, fraternity or sorority events, or fundraisers, you will never be bored here!
Bang for the buck
I feel like the quality of the education I am getting is worth every penny.
Clubs and Activities
There is something for everyone!

Am learning a lot
The work isn't easy, but as college students, that is what we need. Some of the classes you have to take like Public Speaking and Economics may not seem appealing, but I am definitely learning a lot in both of those classes this semester.
Am enjoying being here
I feel welcome here. Everyone is so friendly and positive. I love the marching band. It's the only activity I am a part of right now, but it feels like home.
Bang for the buck
With them just buying a hotel, tuition is rising a bit next year, but for the money we spend, we do get challenged and educated. We can also get a ton of free stuff they give out and some activites, such as the band, give a stipend so we get paid for going there too.
Tips for prospective students
*Make sure you know which major you want, or at least an area of interest.
*Don't wait until after your first semester or year to get involved with activites. You will be very far behind.
*Ask questions! All faculty and students are there to help you and point you in the right direction.

These tips go for EVERY student at ANY school!

RMU is an excellent, medium-sized school that is constantly growing and improving. The University really cares about its students, and wants to listen to your feedback. While it does have a handful of commuters, there are always opportunities to make friends and participate in activities.
Tips for prospective students
Apply, even if you're on the fence. It's a free and simple application, and you never know what kinds of scholarships you may get. Visit to see if you can truly picture yourself on campus! You'll never get that feeling just by reading about RMU or looking at pictures. You need to come here and see what we have to offer! If you can, talk to a professor in your school of interest, since they are very knowledgable and give you a lot of guidance about if RMU's program is right for you.
Academic Rigor
The University offers lower level and accelerated courses, on top of its regular courses. I'm in the honors program, and I feel like the course load challenges me enough without being overwhelming. I really appreciate the care that the department heads take in designing the curriculum for every course! However, the school places a lot of emphasis on online access codes. They aren't always needed, and they can get a little pricey.
Dorm Life
The dorms are a pretty nice size, and come with all of the furniture you would need. The brick walls are really nice sound barriers, so you have privacy and don't have to worry about hearing your neighbors! The maintenance team is always prompt with repairs, and you can do a ton to make your space feel more like home. Some of the buildings are better than others, but they're all livable!
Food and Dining
Food is RMU's greatest weakness. There are four different places to get food: the PNC Colonial Café, RoMo's, Yorktown, and Wheatley. The Caf has a lot of different stations that range from decent to excellent. There are some good, healthy options that are new this year! RoMo's is a standard sub shop/convenience store. The sandwiches and salads are good, and there are nice to-go options. Yorktown is rough. The food is pretty expensive and greasy. Wheatley has nice specials, but is only open during the week. Weekend hours for dining aren't the best, especially if you stay on campus. It can be easy to get tired of, as well. Overall, the food is good enough, but certainly could be improved.
What to do for fun
If you're into the party scene, you may have to do some searching, but you will find out where the parties are. If you're not, don't worry! You will find a group of people you can hang out with on the weekends. Contrary to popular belief, most people DO NOT go home every weekend. There are always people hanging around campus, and there are numerous events each week. If you're interested, you can explore downtown Pittsburgh, or go to the Island Sports Center for ice skating, mini golf, and bowling. There's also a shuttle to the Robinson Mall that runs every other weekend! You can either shop, or take the Port Authority buses to Pitt's campus.
Bang for the buck
RMU is constantly improving. The fees aren't too high for the changes they make each year! There are always so many free events (carnivals, fireworks, dances, sporting events). You will always have access to technology like computers, printers, and copiers. RMU even offers free tutoring, health, and counseling centers. They're known as a less expensive private university, yet they still offer their students more than enough!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
Bronze Bob is a recent addition at the University. You, too, can sit with this stunning statue of the great Robert Morris on any given day! People love to take pictures with him and post them on social media using (#BronzeBob).
Great for these types of students
RMU is really great for any type of student. From International students, to the honors kids, to Greek Life, to the athletes, every type of person you can imagine is represented on campus.
Clubs and Activities
There is already so much to do on campus, and new activities pop up all the time. In fact, it's incredibly easy to start your own club AND get funding from the school. If we don't have what you're looking for, you can make it happen with just a little bit of effort.
Greek Life
Greek life is pretty prominent on campus, and they truly rise above all stereotypes. People in fraternities and sororities are incredibly kind and welcoming.
Campus Safety
RMU has its own police force, and they do a great job patrolling and responding to the very few incidents that do happen. I feel completely safe walking around campus at night.

loads of opportunities for work study, internships, and extra curriculars. but, academics are front and center and are led by world class faculty. there is a lot of financial aid available, too!
Tips for prospective students
1) be sure you understand the requirements for your major.
2) get to know your professors. they are always helpful and want you to do well!
3) rmu is commuter friendly, so check out off campus housing before you plonk down a huge chunk of change for a dorm.
4) there is something here for everyone. get involved in one of the campus groups. we have everything from bible studies to swing dances- and yes, greek life too.
Academic Rigor
almost every professor is absolutely wonderful, but you need to watch out for the occasional part-time professor that isn't as good as he or she could be. stick with professors with a proven track record.
Dorm Life
personally, i had a bad experience living on campus. not everyone does, but after my freshman year i moved off campus. the facilities are nice, though. my main issue is that my room mate was pretty bad, but if i'd had a different room mate my experience could have been much better.
Food and Dining
fabulous! there is always a healthy option at one of the 3 on-campus eateries and tons of variety.
What to do for fun
there is scheduled programming on campus every friday night. also, the rmu island sport center is just a minute from campus and offers free or steeply discounted ice skating, golfing, bowling, and much more.
Bang for the buck
tuition and fees are very reasonable for a private school this size, and financial aid isn't stingy. but, housing and meal plans are a little expensive.
Great for these types of students
business, communication, and science majors like engineering and nursing.
Clubs and Activities
there is literally a club for everything- clubs for different majors, interests, advocacy...you name it, it's here.
Greek Life
greek organizations are pretty active on campus.
Campus Safety
rmu campus police are amazing. they are very helpful and have an active presence not only on campus but also in the township. they do everything from parking permits and law enforcement to emergency services like unlocking your car (been there) and jump starts.
