Am learning a lot
The professors at Ouachita are incredible. They are brilliant in their subjects and have a passion for teaching!
Am enjoying being here
Ouachita is a small school, yet there is always someone new to meet too! And there are so many opportunities to get involved in so many different things, from intramurals to social clubs to music and drama opportunities for everyone!
Bang for the buck
It can be expensive, but there are so many scholarships out there you can make it work!
Tips for prospective students
Come visit!!! Ouachita is a beautiful campus, and the people are amazing. You need to get on campuses before you know if you want to go there! I knew right away when I got on campuses if I liked the school!
Go and visit a class and meet with some professors in your field of study. It helps you get a feel for what your time at college will be like!
Great for these types of students
Ouachita is great for anyone who wants to make the most out of their college experience! It's small enough that you always see someone you know, but at the same time there is always someone to meet! It may be in a small town, but here we make our own fun!

There is definitely something for everyone at Ouachita!!!

Ouachita to me cannot be rated! Ouachita's faculty and students create a positive influence that helps me become better in all that I do. I believe Ouachita helps students thrive in all they do and all they will do.
Tips for prospective students
For prospective students make sure that Ouachita is the right college for you. You may go in thinking a small campus is great, but later find out that it just isn't for you and that's okay! Overall just make sure that Ouachita fits all your college needs and also ask current students and see if they are glad that they chose Ouachita!
Academic Rigor
Ouachita sets the bar high in academic success. They help you become better in studying, thinking, and concepts. If you ever have any problems, the professors are there to help you because they care about your success!
Dorm Life
The dorm life is what makes any college experience a great one. The dorms at Ouachita will allow you to meet amazing and hopefully life long friends. You'll end up doing activities as a hall or as suites!
Food and Dining
The food is what keeps students running during stressful times and Ouachita surely delivers. With the cafeteria and other restaurants available, there is something for everyone. Also the bonus of Starbucks helps everyone survive finals week!
What to do for fun
Ouachita offers many things to do outside of just academics. Recreational sports; such as softball, basketball, soccer, etc. are a few things to do throughout the year. Campus ministries and campus activities do several things all year such as backyard Bible club and movie nights.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
Tiger Tunes is a huge tradition at Ouachita, which is basically all the social clubs coming together and putting on shows to raise scholarship money for future students! Tiger Tracks has the same purpose but is a series of events that students compete in such as egg tossing, mud volleyball, and tricycle racing! Finally Battle of the Ravine is the football game between are rival Henderson and all the students and faculty go out and cheer our tigers to victory!

Am learning a lot
Courses are challenging, but not impossible. I have been learning a lot, and teachers are always willing to help. That's one of the best things about Ouachita- the teachers honestly care about you as a student and as a person.
Am enjoying being here
There's so much to do at Ouachita, the dorms are nice, and I enjoy my classes. Arkadelphia is a bit small, but you can always find things to do with friends.
Bang for the buck
Ouachita can be expensive, but it's worth it. Since I'm on a scholarship, I am definitely getting my money's worth. I have grown a lot since I've been at Ouachita.
Tips for prospective students
I would definitely recommend Ouachita. Also, wherever you go to college, get involved! There's so many clubs and volunteer opportunities, don't let them pass you by. You'll only get busier, so you might as well try things out as a freshman. Just don't get so busy your grades suffer!
Great for these types of students
Christian, wanting a good education, wanting to grow as a person. OBU is great if you're looking for a small Christian college where people honestly care about you.

Definitely come prepared to work hard. Academics are not easy, but it is college and it will prepare you for later.

Ouachita will quickly become your home away from home. The professors and staff members care about you, want to get to know you, and have a deep love for OBU. Come to Ouachita you will not regret it!
Bang for the buck
Ouachita gives a LOT of scholarship money out and once you are at school, there are more chances for scholarships. In my case, I would be paying more money to be going to UofA, and you can't beat the small school atmosphere

Ouachita has been an incredible experience over the past four years of my life. The faculty is second to NONE, with their involvement and interest in the studies and lives of their students. The atmosphere that OBU produces is one that you really have to experience to truly grasp - it is simply amazing.
Tips for prospective students
The students and faculty at Ouachita are friendly, caring, and abundantly helpful. They want to make your experience wonderful so do not hesitate to ask questions or give them a call. If you are taking a walk on campus be prepared for LOTS of friendly smiles and people asking you if they can help you find something. This campus is truly ONE OF A KIND.
Academic Rigor
The core curriculum is definitely rigorous. Depending on what teacher you get it can be down-right HARD! The great thing about Ouachita is that the teachers have a heart, and will go out of their way to help you in whatever way they can. If you are struggling - do NOT hesitate to let them know!
Dorm Life
One key word is important when speaking of Ouachita's dorm life - FRIENDSHIPS. The freshmen dorms are not the greatest (these are being renovated to be REALLY NICE from what I hear), but they are the absolute best as far as increasing mingling and friendship growth and don't get me wrong they are totally livable! Gosser Hall is the nicest of the dorms on campus and they are really great! I personally lived in them for three years (after escaping the tight quarters of Francis Crawford for an entire year)! Maintenance takes care of basically everything you need, and the dorm mom and RA's are fabulous!

Basically - Ouachita Community RULES! :)
Food and Dining
Ok lets get real... who WANTS to eat in the Caf? It really isn't bad food, you just get a little tired of it after 4 years. The workers though - SOME OF THE NICEST PEOPLE ON CAMPUS! At night Mr. Ricky will put on a Michael Jackson CD and the whole caf will sing along and attempt to moonwalk! The ladies working the line are simply wonderful, and make the experience fun! :) They are very accommodating when it comes to unusual diets as well. They always offer a vegetarian dish and have a special back room for people with food allergies (Gluten free stuff, soy milk, almond milk, rice milk, etc.) If you have a special diet and let someone on the staff know... they will get EXACTLY what you want! :)
What to do for fun
EVERYTHING... Campus activities is ALWAYS buzzing with fun things to do on campus! Social Clubs run a ton of campus wide activities as well. If you don't know what these are... look them up... I am POSITIVE that you will find some pics somewhere on the internet!

Tiger Traks
Tiger Tunes
Tiger Serve Day
Mission Trips (at least 2-3 per year)
Elrod Center (service activities and projects)
Elder Serve
Boys and Girls Club Volunteers
etc.

I could go on forever!!! Look it up and check it out!!!
Bang for the buck
Ok... YES Ouachita IS EXPENSIVE, but I have to say that I believe it was worth EVERY PENNY! The people are unforgettable, and my overall experience was incredible. The education that I received was second to none, and I feel adequately prepared as I am about to pursue a graduate degree up north in the fall.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
OHHHHH YES. You really can't fully understand this until you GO and EXPERIENCE it for yourself.

Tiger for Life!

Oh... and of course I have a bit of tradition from my sisters! Haha!!! #socialclubprobs #EEE #SAI
Great for these types of students
Ouachita is GREAT for students with a willingness to learn. Growth at OBU happens mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. You definitely have to WANT to be here, otherwise this is NOT the place for you. People who don't LOVE it coming in, usually don't just learn to love it. You need to have a EAGERNESS to GROW.
Clubs and Activities
OH YEA. CONSTANT.
Greek Life
The greek life on campus does exist, but it has been overtaken by the Social Clubs on campus. The actual fraternities and sororities that are on campus are usually only within the majors and have very strict restrictions by their National Headquarters and OBU. OBU wanted to support a more friendly environment so Social Clubs were created rather than actual fraternities and sororities. This idea however, backfired a little bit because the Social Clubs have simply BECOME sororities and fraternities. OBU has recently cracked the whip on hazing however, so there is VERY LITTLE TO NO HAZING.
Campus Safety
THE CAMPUS ITSELF IS VERY SAFE. The atmosphere is truly the best around. I am a female and I had NO PROBLEM walking across campus in the wee hours of the morning by myself. It is honestly VERY SAFE.

NOW... let me explain my three star marking - The actual safety officers however, are NOT HELPFUL AT ALL. I really can't express or explain this until you actually have to DEAL with them. They simply leave you more frustrated than when you went to them to begin with!

Attending OBU is like living on a family vacation. Everyone supports everyone, has fun, and learns together, but knows when to give each other a little space. The quality of education coupled with the Christian principles set forth by my OBU professors is preparing for a future that knows no bounds.
Tips for prospective students
If you are new to OBU or any college, you should learn to meet new people and step out of your comfort zones. Use college, not only as an educational experience, but an opportunity to expand who you are while achieving who you want to be. Also, practice different learning techniques to see which one works for you.
Academic Rigor
My professors at OBU challenge me to be my very best and are always available for advice, instruction, and, yes, even correction. The demanding pace in my classes has encouraged me to develop good time-management skills that I am sure will be valuable for the rest of my life.
Dorm Life
The dorm life has proven to be one of my favorite parts of life at OBU. I have met a lot of guys and made a lot of new friends along this journey. The safe environment and fun atmosphere make it seem like home. Learning to share a small space with someone you have only known for a few weeks might be a challenge for some, but I feel like my roommate and I have known each other forever. Whether it's playing ping pong in the lobby , eating pizza in someone's room, or watching a movie with everyone piled into our room, I know that one day, these will be called my 'good ole days'.
Food and Dining
Ah, the cinnamon rolls ! Our dining hall men and women fix tons of cinnamon rolls just to help us make it through finals week. It is the only part of finals week I look forward to. Everyday, though, there are way more choices than any of us deserve. The salads, ice cream, desserts, Italian food, hamburgers, etc are wonderful and never allow u to get bored with eating in the caf.
What to do for fun
The town of Arkadelphia does not have much to do in it, but Hot Springs and Little Rock are not that far away. Dallas is only 4 hours away and that makes for a fun weekend with lots of good, clean options for entertainment. OBU makes up for the lack of activities available in the town by providing many varied types of activities on campus. Some of these activities are service-related while others are strictly for fun or friendly competition. I have never been bored or lacked opportunities to have fun while at OBU.
Bang for the buck
OBU is a private university, but I feel this is where God has led me and He has provided mightily while I have been here. The one-on-one relationship I share with my professors is worth the financial investment my parents and I have decided to make in my future.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
The tiger is our mascot. We have a tiger that stands on our campus. Guarding the tiger during the week of our rival game between Henderson State which is across the street is one of the more honorable things an OBU student can be asked to do. Guarding the Tiger shows pride and develops leadership. Not to mention, it is fun to try and keep the enemy away from our tiger. Staying up all night with your friends and braving the elements makes it memorable.
Great for these types of students
If you are a student who loves a small atmosphere and thrives on academic challenges, OBU is the university for you. Come home and see what we are all about. Christian principles intertwined with academic excellence and wonderful friendships makes for the perfect combination and has been a blessing in my life.
Clubs and Activities
I love the social life at OBU. Whether I am participating in intramural athletics, social-club activities, service opportunities, or academic classes, I always find myself to be challenged AND encouraged.
Greek Life
My involvement in my social club at OBU has helped me grow spiritually and socially. My fellow club members encourage me to learn scripture, help others, and work together for common goals. Without these young men in my life, my experience at OBU would not be as rich as it is.
Campus Safety
I have never felt afraid while being out on campus or at campus activities. Our dorms are very secure and our dorm parents are always involved in our lives to make sure we are making good choices.

A difficult school, however manageable.
Dorm Life

Clubs and Activities
There is Greek life, and campus ministrues. That's about it.
Greek Life
While joining a club is popular, OBU is small enough to not need a social club to meet new people and hangout.
