Am learning a lot | Not only am I learning SO much in regards to my media major and other general courses, I feel that I am learning so much about life and how to be a prospect for change in my community. |
Am enjoying being here | When I arrived, I was applauded by a large crowd with hundreds of current students which really made me feel welcome. This school is different than most- there is a real sense of community and you will have no trouble fitting in no matter who you are! |
Bang for the buck | There is a Chick-Fil-A on campus. Enough said, right? |
Tips for prospective students | I would definitely say that ORU will exceed your expectations- It certainly exceeded mine! The best advice I can give is to check out ORU during College Weekend, fly/drive to campus and see if you enjoy it. That's probably the best thing for a prospective student to do. |

Am learning a lot | ORU prioritizes you as an individual student. They challenge you and put you in the best classes available. Learning isn't restricted to the classroom. At ORU, you are learning about your entire person--spirit, mind, and body. Your person will never be bored here, unless you choose to live in disinterest. |
Am enjoying being here | I absolutely LOVE being here. I have made high-quality friends, and I feel totally accepted on this campus. People really care about you here, including your professors. Tulsa is also a great city to explore; there are lots of options for entertainment. Great coffee shops, bowling just down the street, Walmart across the street, all the stores you would ever think of to go to at home--you name it, it's here. |
Bang for the buck | ORU is committed to making sure you have the best experience possible during your time here. They make the dorms as comfortable as they can, with upgrades every time you come back from a break. They do their best to help you with your studies, and get you into the right classes. They provide plenty of food options: the cafeteria, coffee shops, smoothie shops, and Chik-fil-a. There is also a great aerobics center, with an indoor track and olympic pool. Everything you need is at your fingertips. |
Tips for prospective students | Come check out ORU! We have College Weekends every fall and spring, and I can guarantee that we will do our best to make you feel welcome! On a more practical note, ORU will do their best to help you afford an education here. No matter who you are, funds are within your reach. Apply for scholarships and grants, or even look for a work-study job; opportunities are abundant. |
Great for these types of students | I could say that ORU is great for everyone. But to be more specific, here are some specific traits I have noted in students here: Christian; Motivated; Ambitious; Fun-loving; Uncertain (about what you want to be when you grow up); Dedicated to Studies; Athletic; Artistic |

Am learning a lot | The professors, in addition to being friendly, personable, and considerate of your time and feelings, are so knowledgeable about the area that they teach. Although of course, I have not had every professor, every professor I have had thus far have been beyond exceptional. I am very pleased with the amount they know, and they efforts they make to help you and your career. |
Am enjoying being here | I had always imagined going to college out-of-state, but overall, Tulsa is a fantastic place to live; with the big-city feel, but the small-town citizens, Tulsa has the perfect atmosphere for anyone. Oral Roberts University is also currently in the best position it has ever been since around when it opened in 1963. The newest incoming president, Mark Rutland is a phenomenal president, with the student's best interest at heart. I am thrilled to be here. |
Bang for the buck | Whether or not my profession ever repays the whole cost of my tuition and MORE, the relationships I built here at ORU, and the knowledge I gained are without a doubt worth the cost of tuition. |
Tips for prospective students | Your goal for college is not to get a degree. Your goal is to get an education. Oral Roberts University is designed to give you the education and the knowledge you need to be the best at what you will do. |
Great for these types of students | Spirit-filled, Christian, Ambitious, Hard-working, spiritually, mentally, and physically well-rounded. |

Am learning a lot | At ORU the teachers and faculty don't take lightly the importance of an education. They truly care about the students and not just the grade earned in the class. Teachers and faculty teach students lessons that will be useful outside the classroom in addition to factual information. Personal at ORU do everything in their power to help students grow physically, intellectually and spiritually. At ORU I feel that I have become more spiritually alive, intellectually alert, physically disciplined, socially adept, and professionally competent. |
Am enjoying being here | I absolutely LOVE Oral Roberts University. The joyful atmosphere that fills the campus never ceases. Everyone is very helpful and accommodating to ones needs, they truly care about the students and the success of everyone post graduation. People are very friendly and caring and full of the peace of God. A great place to grow spiritually, physically, and intellectually. |
Bang for the buck | I must admit that ORU is an expensive University and such a financial burden may seem overwhelming. However, the University offers numerous scholarship opportunities such as the Whole Person Scholarship which is a full tuition scholarship for 4 years awarded to 25 incoming students every year. Other academic and extracurricular scholarships are available on campus. For the extra money, students can experience a smaller more personal classroom environment, a spiritually guided lecture setup, bigger dorm rooms, chapel twice a week, and a personalized caring spirit-filled campus. |
Tips for prospective students | My advice for everyone is to get involved. The best way to make a transition easier is to find people whom you can go to during this challenging time. Join clubs and organizations, be involved with Wing Events, and talk to people in your classes. College will be a much more enjoyable experience the sooner you find someone to share it with. |
Great for these types of students | ORU is a university that is great for students that love the lord and live a Christlike lifestyle. Students at ORU hold themselves to a high moral and ethical standard. Most students have lofty goals for themselves with the determination to change their world. Prestigious leaders and ministers have come out of ORU and students are encouraged to listen to the voice of God and not belittle the possibilities for their life. ORU is great for students who know that their life has a plan and a purpose. |

Am learning a lot | The Professors here are extremely knowledgeable. I am a Theology Major and we are truly blessed to have such a strong leadership at ORU. I know that I will leave ORU with the knowledge that I didn't waste time by coming here, and that I was truly given an opportunity to excel. |
Am enjoying being here | Oral Roberts University was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. To say that I enjoy being here is like saying that standing out in the rain will probably get you wet. The atmosphere around campus is very God-centered, and very joyous. Our President, Dr. Rutland, is a true blessing to this campus and has worked hard to make sure that the life as a commuter (which I am) and a residential student are both pleasant experiences. There are people here from every walk of life, 49 states, and over 70 countries. We have Catholics, Christians, people new to the Faith, and people brought-up in the Church. The environment is so warming and loving, you will wake up every day with the true desire to attend class. |
Bang for the buck | Oral Roberts University is expensive for some, not as expensive for others. I don't come from a family with lots of College Savings, but ORU has helped so much. Their Financial Aid department is a real blessing, and they have made it possible for me to attend this fantastic University. With the quality of the staff, the loving and rich atmosphere, and the networking that you will have available, the price-tag is well-worth the prospect of what ORU has to offer. |
Tips for prospective students | Network. Network. Network. I cannot stress this point enough. Yes, keep your grades up, but also- get to know the people sitting next to you in class. Get to know your floor-mates, and those around you at school. You are attending a University of world changers, and your future will lie among these men and women. The ties you will find at ORU will stay for a lifetime and you will not regret it. |
Great for these types of students | Everyone with a passion for God, for themselves, and for their fellow man, should apply. Even if you've been a Christian for a week, a seasoned believer, or you are still debating the 'whole Christ thing', you should apply. The environment is so loving and understanding, you will WANT to be here. No one should be without the experience of a campus like the one at Oral Roberts University. |

Am learning a lot | All of the classes are a work out for your brain. They get both your mind and spirit engaged in the material that you are covering. With the help of experienced professors and state of the art technology learning is exciting and personal. |
Am enjoying being here | I got accepted to six other colleges and this one stood out because of the joyful atmosphere that is apparent anywhere that you go on campus. The sense of community, family and innovation never disappears from the campus. |
Bang for the buck | You get what you put into it. |
Tips for prospective students | Do your homework, use available on campus resources like the library, tutors, and your teachers. All the teachers want you to succeed and enjoy being here. |
Great for these types of students | Christian, Smart, Out going, innovative, personable, world changers. |

In three sentences | ORU is, in my opinion, one of the best colleges in the country. The professors and faculty are caring and loving, and they are willing to pray with you and for you. The campus is small, but beautiful, and everything that the school has to offer is top notch. |
Tips for prospective students | Attend all of your classes--attendance is taken and your grade will be knocked down if you miss more than the amount of skips you have. Attend all chapel services--you get fined $50 if you skip a service. Take in everything the school has to offer. It'll truly change your life. |
Academic Rigor | Academics are huge at ORU. The school focuses on educating the whole person, which is the mind, the body, and the spirit. The classes you take that go towards your major are top of the line, and the teachers expect nothing but the best out of you. |
Dorm Life | The dorms in all honesty aren't that bad. There are four dorm options for the girls (Gabrielle, Claudius, Susie, and Frances), and there are three for the boys (EMR, Wesley, and Michael). All of the dorms feel more like a home than a dorm room. Sure, there could be improvements, but I feel like the dorms at ORU are much better than some other colleges around the country. |
Food and Dining | There are several options for food on campus. Our main food source is our cafeteria, which is known as Saga. We have a Chick-Fil-A, Moe's, Hava Java, Jazzman's, Freshens, and a few other food/drink places on campus. You won't be too disappointed here when it comes to food. Sometimes saga isn't the best, but most of the time they are. |
What to do for fun | Intramural sports, Student Association activities, playing games and watching tv in the Armend Hammer Student Center are all on campus activities. There are more throughout each semester. Tulsa, Oklahoma also offers several fun things to do all over the town, and a lot of those things are free or at a low price. |
Bang for the buck | The school is expensive, but as long as you truly work hard and are at the school for the right reasons, you will most definitely get your money's worth! |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | All the buildings are unusually shaped, which makes the campus very unique and very beautiful. I'm unsure of any unusual traditions, but we do have back to school parties every fall semester, we have this thing called wing-cest which is basically when a girl and a boy on brother/sister wings start dating, Ring by Spring, and more. |
Great for these types of students | Christians who would like to go farther on their walk with God and get an education that is irreplaceable. |
Clubs and Activities | There's several different clubs and activities that are always going on (i.e. Missions & Outreach, Spanish Club, International Club, several different honor societies). |
Greek Life | There is no Greek like due to the fact that we are a private Christian college. Although, every wing (floor in the dorms) is given a floor name and they all have a brother and/or sister wing. This is the closest thing to Greek life at ORU. |
Campus Safety | Security is wonderful! They are always on the location that they are needed at in a matter of minutes, and they are always willing to help. |

Am learning a lot | The education that I am receiving is exceeding my expectations. Not only do you improve intellectually but also physically and spiritually. ORU lives on the vision of the whole person. I only thought that I would be going to class and reading some books, but the professors bring it to a new level. They are all highly educated and experienced in their fields. |
Am enjoying being here | I LOVE it here! I would never choose to leave this school for anything. From the moment I first stepped foot on campus I felt the peace and joy that this campus is full of. The people are friendly and love God with all of their hearts. I know that I am safe here and never have to worry about a thing! |
Bang for the buck | The university is expensive but definitely worth every penny! The school offers many scholarships and grants which really help. I was pretty concerned with the finances to attend but God has provided for me. I am now worry free! |
Tips for prospective students | I just have one thing to say, go for it! If you have a heart to be at ORU, go for it! That is what I live by because I have a tendency to worry too much. I have to remember that I am not always in control and sometimes I need to follow what I believe God is telling me to do. Just go for it! |
Great for these types of students | Oral Roberts University is a spirit-filled school. If you have a heart for Jesus Christ and want to learn how to minister through whichever degree you choose, this is a wonderful place to attend. You do not have to major in a theology or missions degree. You will grow just as much spiritually if you major in a secular degree. |

Am learning a lot | ORU offers many different degree programs such as art, music with varying concentrations, mathematics, engineering, and others. Its departments are fully accredited and it has the honor of being only one of a hundred schools in the US whose music department is an all Steinway school. |
Am enjoying being here | The atmosphere at ORU is very friendly and incoming students will have no problem finding their own niche. The university offers multiple intramural sports, cafes, food vendors, a smoothie shack, and beautiful gardens and landscaping. For active people there is a fully stocked recreation center with a weight room, aerobics gym, basketball court, Olympic style pool with a diving board, racquetball courts, badminton courts, and other such things. There are also outdoor tennis courts, soccer fields, and large empty fields perfect for football and Frisbee. |
Bang for the buck | For the money that you spend you will receive quite a few benefits from the accredited degree programs to the student resources such as the recreation center and multiple sports fields. ORU also boasts an immediate hire rate for graduating seniors of over 95 percent. |
Tips for prospective students | People are generally friendly at ORU and enjoy having a good time. Be bold and show yourself friendly. Soon you won't have any problem maintaining an active social life. However, make sure that you leave yourself time to study because exams and final papers can creep up on you before you know it. |
Great for these types of students | ORU is great for outgoing students who enjoy belonging to a community. However, shyer students will be able to take refuge in the spacious gardens and the multi-floor library as well as the Internet cafe and other quieter zones of the University. |

Am learning a lot | Education of the whole person -- mind, body and soul -- is one of the founding principles of ORU. Through their classes, chapel services and physical education requirements, they serve their purpose and they serve them well. Professors have open office hours and are more than willing to help if you're having any trouble. The tutoring centers and APA program are there for homework help and study tips. Through the chaplain program and weekly chapel services, you learn more about what living for Christ really means. While the physical education requirement may seem silly to some, it has motivated me to get healthier and to take care of my body now and in the future. ORU claims to educate the whole person and it delivers in every way. |
Am enjoying being here | Being at ORU has been a dream and prayer come true. One of the greatest things about ORU isn't just its education level or beautiful campus but the people. The students at ORU are friendly, welcoming and easily become like a second family. |
Bang for the buck | ORU is an expensive school but it's well worth it. Not only are you receiving a top-notch education but you are surrounded by brilliant, award winning professors and get to stay in beautiful dorms. There are many opportunities to succeed at ORU and our tuition money helps fund amazing programs like the APA and Tutoring centers. |
Tips for prospective students | Come to a College Weekend and experience all that ORU has to offer. If you can't make it to a college weekend, at least schedule a campus and if you can, an overnight visit. I could tell you the greatest things about ORU but in order to truly understand how great of a school it is, I would highly recommend you to come and see for yourself. |
