Am learning a lot | You learn as much as you put into it. |
Am enjoying being here | Best college choice I could have made. |
Bang for the buck | Good education for a good price. |
Tips for prospective students | College is alot different than highschool, you actually have to study. Don't let that scare you because if you put in the right amount of effort, you will do well. Get involved in all the campus activities even if you think they sound or look dumb, you could end up making your closest friends there. |
Great for these types of students | This college is great for students that want a medium classroom size, and it is a close compact campus. Sports teams aren't the biggest or the best but they are well known and each event is alot of fun and time well spent. |

In three sentences | Marshall university is an amazing school, and I would recommend it for people who are looking for an in the middle school. The classes are small enough so you can get personal one-on-one contact with professors, but big enough so it doesn't still feel like high school.Marshall's campus is also located in one area, so you don't have to worry about traveling far to get to class. |
Tips for prospective students | Personally, I think high school seniors should always visit the campus first before deciding on their college. Marshall is located in a convenient area of Huntington, where you can walk almost anywhere you need to go. I would also recommend future student to meet the dean of their college. This is where you can ask any questions you may have about what you will be studying and what will be expected of you. |
Academic Rigor | Marshall professors are dedicated to making sure the students get through the required materials for their class. Although the work may be challenging, the professors always have office hours where you may ask any questions you have. |
Dorm Life | As a freshmen residing in the freshmen dorms, I know first hand that the dorms are amazing. There are quiet hours through the night so no one is kept awake. The freshmen dorms also have their own bathroom and sink, which makes living there very convenient. Finally, resident advisors stay on each floor to make sure everyone follows the rules. I would recommend every freshmen to stay in the freshen dorms. |
Food and Dining | Marshall's food and dining areas are top of the line. They have two dining halls, and other restaurants such as Pizza Hut, chick fil a, and star bucks. The dining halls always have a variety of entrees from the pizza station, to the grill, the salad bar, or the international station. The chefs always prepare amazing meals, and take into consideration your opinions. |
What to do for fun | Marshall always has activities for students to do on campus. There is a club called campus activity board that has activities funded for students to do every week. These activities are usually free, and include ultimate frisbee, glow in the dark rock climbing, and movie night. Other activities cost a small fee, usually no more than $10, and include things such as a Phillip Phillips concert, watching the comedian Jay Leno, and the musical Rudolph. There are also intramural sports to join like volley ball, basket ball, and racket ball. Finally, Marshall has a recreation center that has three floors of work out equipment. The rec-center has a swimming pool, basketball courts, volley ball nets, racket ball rooms, and also offers classes such as Zumba, yoga, and spin. In my experiences at Marshall, I have always had something to do. |
Bang for the buck | Marshall has a great campus and friendly staff. It worth every penny to attend such a feet college. The professor actually care about learning and do not assign busy work. The dining areas and dorms are cleaned daily, and kept in great condition. |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | One tradition that was new to me was the ceremony of turning off Marshall's fountain for the winter. The fountain was created as a memorial for the students and other people killed in the plane crash. On the day the plane crashed students, families, and friends gather to hold a ceremony in remembrance of all the people who lost their lives. And then the fountain is turned off for the winter months. |
Great for these types of students | There are clubs to join for any type of student. Marshall has many clubs from Harry potter club, to M.E.D. L.I.F.E club. With all these clubs, there is something to fit everyone's personal interests. Marshall also offered hundreds of undergraduate degrees for any career profession. |
Clubs and Activities | With campus activity board, and all the clubs, there is always something to do at Marshall. The activities are actually fun and are usually free! |
Campus Safety | Marshall is a very safe campus. There are help alert systems located all over campus. If one felt threatened, they should push the call button and police would arrive in three minutes. There are also campus police that patrol campus regularly. Marsha also offers an alert text or email notification. In the event of an emergency, every student that signed up to receive and notification will be notified. |

Am learning a lot | The classes and professors are amazing. Although some courses are very difficult, depending on major, the majority of professors are willing to dedicate their extra time in order for you to understand the material. |
Am enjoying being here | I absolutely LOVE Marshall. I honestly can't imagine going anywhere else. For my particular major, nursing, the courses are great. I'm truly learning a lot of valuable material that will help me in the long run. |
Bang for the buck | Cost was a huge deal for me. However, Marshall offers a great education for a great price. |
Tips for prospective students | Go to all of your classes. Although most classes are not mandatory, some professors will give extra notes and explain things more in depth. Also, don't wail until last minute to complete presentations or study. That will only cause more stress which in turn may not work out so great. |
Great for these types of students | Nursing Majors Music and Performance Pre-Med Pre-Pharmacy Med School Pre-Law Education -just about everything is offered at Marshall...those are just a few examples of what my friends and I are majoring in. |

Will learn a lot | I have enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The Professors i have talked to are nice and know a lot about their subject. |
Will enjoy being here | The Town is not to big not to small. The atmosphere there is perfect for some one that wants a place that is a happy median between say a Chicago or a really small town. I have not been but I have lived in small 10 thousand people or less towns and in Chicago with several million. Springfield also has 110 thousand. So it was pretty easy to know what size town I wanted. |
Bang for the buck | Coming from IL the colleges and universities are quites expensive even for an in-stater like me. Marshall on the other hand even without Financial aid is cheaper. With a annual tuition that is less than 13 thousand. |
Tips for prospective students | Make sure to have you grades and test scores in order. It is important to know what your really want from a school as well. The reason is the number of schools wanting your attention can be very overwhelming. Start looking early one for schools and make sure they have you major. It makes the choice of you final few schools and ultimately the school you chose to go to much easier |
Great for these types of students | Some one that want a great campus and faculty. That want to be able to watch a pretty fun sports team and finally have fun while still achieving at your goals in college. |

In three sentences | marshall is great! lively football scene, great teachers and classes, and plenty of ways to get places around town. the marching band is awesome too! |
Tips for prospective students | join some clubs, but don't overwhelm yourself. it's really easy to get in over your head your first semester, like a lot of kids do, but ya gotta stick with it. go to your classes and ask for help if you need it. |
Academic Rigor | it can be very hard, trust me. but the tutors are free, and teachers are always willing to help! |
Dorm Life | the dorms are always pretty active and clean. the freshman dorms are the newest on campus, and arguably the nicest, especially if you like going to the rec center, which is like next door to the dorms. |

What to do for fun | there's the huntington mall that's only a few miles away, there's also all kinds of sports to go watch, and as a student you get in for free. there's dozens (if not hundreds) of clubs for any and all kinds of activities and interests, and intramural sports teams, if you're into that as well. |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | my favorite is the immediate response at football games for local cheers. if you shout "go herd!" in the parking lot, during the tailgate, you will absolutely get a response. |
Clubs and Activities | five stars because there's just so many, and you can even talk to the council for the addition of your own! |
Campus Safety | marshall campus is pretty safe in its own right, plus there's plenty of booths around the campus that you can use to call security to that location. |

In three sentences | While studying at Marshall University, I have had some wonderful experiences. Although I have had some absolutely horrible professors, I believe that Marshall is a great college to attend. I would recommend Marshall University to anyone who wants a quality education. |
Tips for prospective students | Do not overwhelm yourself! I will have been at Marshall for 5 years by the time I graduate. I did not take summer classes every summer, and I didn't take the maximum amount of hours each semester. Take it slow and you will learn so much more. I believe I performed better in college because I didn't let myself get overwhelmed and frustrated. |
Academic Rigor | I have had many challenges while at Marshall. Although some of my professors have been difficult, I feel that I have learned so much. Without those professors and their strict assignments and policies, I would not have the determination to do so well in my classes. |
Dorm Life | I have never lived in the dorms as I only live 10 minutes from campus with my parents. I have friends living in the dorms, and they love it. |
Food and Dining | There are many different places to eat on campus. We have a Pizza Hut, Chik-fil-a, SubConnections, an Italian Restaurant, and a Mexican Restaurant in the student center, cafes, a dining hall, and dining areas in the dorms. Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | Every year on the date of the Marshall plane crash, we turn off the fountain that is located in the middle of campus. The fountain is there in many of all the people who died in the 1970 plane crash. In the middle of Huntington, West Virginia, there is a river. Next to this river, there is a steel mill. And next to the steel mill, there is a school. In the middle of this school, there is a fountain. Each year, on the exact same day, at the exact same hour... the water to this fountain is turned off. And in this moment, once every year... throughout the town, throughout the school... time stands still. |
Great for these types of students | Marshall is great for anyone looking for a quality education. It is a friendly environment and there is always someone willing to help. |
Clubs and Activities | There are numerous clubs to join at Marshall. One could join a fraternity or sorority, art clubs, music clubs, english clubs, etc. Just about anything you can think of has some sort of group or club to join. |

Am learning a lot | As a student you have no other choice but to learn about each and every course that you take. The professors I have taken thus far really knows their material and get students involved in every way possible. Not to mention very helpful: willing to take time after class and have one-on-one sessions with their students if for any reason they are not understanding the course work |
Am enjoying being here | Huntington is not big at all, honestly in order to really make the most of your experience here you must get involved in school activities. The city do not really have much to offer so it help a great deal |
Bang for the buck | You really do get more bang for your buck. Tuition is reasonable and with financial aid you may come out of pocket little to nothing( if anything at all). Marshall offer many types of scholarships so students can refrain from taking out loans |
Tips for prospective students | Go to class!! You pay for each day you are in class so don't waste your money. Get to know the faculty they are there to help you. Study the material, just when you think you know everything you can end up flunking major tests and exams. Get and stay involved in school functions and activities |
Great for these types of students | Dedicated and diverse students, outgoing and those who don't mind living in very small cities. Students who are able to balance a social life while also able to stay focused on school work |
