Hood College
Hood College is a liberal arts institution situated on 50 acres in Frederick, Maryland, which also maintains several research centers, including for coastal & watershed studies, teaching & learning, and the humanities. Hood offers 32 areas of study complemented by the Center for Academic Achievement and Retention (CAAR), which provides advising, tutoring, and accessibility services. For high-achieving students, the selective honors program not only comes with a financial award, but also features core class flexibility and a special curriculum, while the Tischer Scholars program rewards students with high major GPAs, allowing them to participate in departmental honors work. The college also offers study abroad programs through formal associations, so students can go on experiential learning trips with faculty or spend up to a year overseas—or even at sea.
