The professors make sure you take something away from the classes. It's not simply boring textbook learning or mindless lecturing. I love the in-class discussions.

Because of the small campus and friendliness of everyone here, it is not hard to make friends quickly. There are so many activities to get involved in.

Though it is kind of pricey, there are lots of scholarships to apply for and opportunities for financial aid.

Take advantage of the tours and visit days. As a student worker in Admissions I can guarantee you that the Admissions recruiters are super friendly and the Ambassadors give great information on tours.

Great for students who are social and like meeting a lot of people. you literally get to know just about everyone on campus. Greek life is so much fun but the social setting doesn't interfere with studies.

All of the professors are great! They will help you out in every way possible. Our biology class has a lab integrated with it so it offers hands on learning.

We have 2 sororities on campus and 4 fraternities. Even if you aren't involved in Greek Life you will still be friends with people that are and the Student Life is great. There is always something to do and always activities to enjoy.

It is expensive but many scholarships are offered and student loans.

I would make sure you don't lose your academic momentum coming in from high school. Also don't think that just because you are a new student that you won't be put in leadership opportunities cause you will.

People who are very motivated and like a small community setting.

After working with your advisor to create a proposal, you can pursue an individualized major. Mine is International Relations, with a focus in the Balkans and the Caucasus, and a minor in Political Science. I'm certainly learning a lot, both in and out of class. The professors are easy to talk to, the coursework is engaging (quite a change from high school), and your fellow students encourage you to think in different ways. One of my fondest memories is bantering about Aztec and Prussian history over a game of pool.

I'm going to be frank: coming from Southern California, I was unprepared for both the humid summers and the Siberian-esque winters. But once you get past the weather, Shreveport is an ideal college town. Much like the college itself, it's big enough for constant discovery but small enough to make you feel like you have a place.

I lived in Louisiana for two years, and so managed to qualify for TOPS (state funding). Together with FAFSA and the Centenary Presidential Scholarship, all my expenses (even books!) were covered, and I actually have $40 left over this semester. You scoff, but when you're a college student, it's a goldmine.

Centenary doesn't take CLEP credit (to my chagrin), but does accept dual enrollment and AP scores. So make sure you find out how your scores translate to hours.

Self-motivated, ambitious, open-minded, and flat-out awesome.

Since it's a small campus, many professors are willing to work with you and help you succeed. Fellow classmates are also easy to talk to and possibly get tutoring from. The curriculum is not easy but not overly challenging. You learn inside and outside of the classroom, from textbooks and from others. You can learn more about the world and about yourself here.

The small community allows you to really get to know people. I'm not an overly outward person, and I found it easy to make friends. Many of the students, and even the staff and faculty, are friendly toward each other. Clubs are usually small, allowing you to make great friends there, for school and for life.

Looking at the numbers alone, this school is very expensive. However, compared to other private schools, it's not that bad, especially to those in Louisiana (if you're from there). I suggest starting there as a freshman in order to get the best scholarships.

As cliche as it may sound, always do your best. Since the work load can be heavy at times, falling behind will put you behind. Also, professors like to see students interested in their subject. They will be more willing to help if they see you really want it.

This school is great for students who want to get ahead, who want to be out of the box, or who want a challenge in their college education.
