Am learning a lot | This college is a great small college with a Christian atmosphere. Small classroom sizes and a great education program make this college outstanding. |
Am enjoying being here | Although, there isn't much to do in the actual town of Blue Mountain, I've befriended many people and have had a great time. |
Bang for the buck | This is a private college and therefore a tad bit more expensive. However, prices aren't outrageous and the college works with you on when and how you pay. |
Tips for prospective students | Go in with a good attitude and study hard. When you graduate from BMC, you've graduated from one of the best! |
Great for these types of students | Students searching for a small college with small class sizes. Also students who are searching for a Christian atmosphere and want to get the most out of the academic experience. |

In three sentences | This is the ideal college for students desiring a close knit college community and desiring to receive a Christ-based education. Strong programs in education and ministry make BMC the ideal place for one seeking a degree in those fields. |
Tips for prospective students | Students definitely need to get involved through the BSU, societies, or even clubs based on their major. Never be afraid to speak to somebody; you'll more than likely walk away with a new friend! Do not be afraid to ask your professors for help. Most are very caring and understanding and desire for students to succeed. Always remember your experience at BMC is what you make it (= |
Academic Rigor | My major, elementary education, has a very challenging course load, but I have no doubt I will be a well prepared educator upon graduation. The professors definitely have knowledge on the subjects they teach and unlike other universities, they genuinely care and desire to see students succeed. |
Dorm Life | Stevens is definitely the better of the two female dorms. It is more modern and the dorms have an extra room which is used as a study room. Whitfield, however, feels more close knit. There are always people hanging out in the parlors and they are very welcoming. |
Food and Dining | The quality of the food served varies by the day, but overall, not bad choices. For students desiring something other than the main course or vegetarian/vegan options, there is a pizza bar, Panini maker, and salad/fruit bar. |
What to do for fun | Society rush nights/pledge nights in the fall are tons of fun. Each society has a fun night planned for the girls/guys and it's a memorable experience one remembers throughout his/her time at BMC. Pledge night allows the females to dress up and pick their society which becomes a sisterhood and close knit group of close friends! Basketball games are where most of the student body is when BMC is playing at home. The student section is one of the best places to sit. The student body has no problem showing their Topper pride! |
Bang for the buck | BMC offers the students the opportunity to attend a private institution with Christian values for about the same amount as a public university. It is a great bargain and one cannot put a price on the opportunity to attend/the experiences one has at BMC! |
Great for these types of students | Students pursuing a career in ministry/education |
Clubs and Activities | Variety of majors are offered for students, but the top notch programs are the ministry program and education. |
Campus Safety | I have never felt unsafe here. The security officers are super nice and go above and beyond. They are even there when you lock the keys in your car (= |

In three sentences | Blue Mountain College is a great place to gain experience in various opportunities. They present opportunities that are not only relevant to your major, but also those that are compatible to one's interests and help to develop social skills. Blue Mountain is focused on the interests and goals of the students which is evident in the encouragement and servitude of the faculty and staff. |
Tips for prospective students | Take advantage of every opportunity that strikes any interest. It will make adjusting to campus life more enjoyable because you will find people that you are compatible with and being active in school will aid in finding the right job in the future. Do not hide out in your dorm room all of the time. College is stressful so take the time to unwind at events going on around campus. Try new things. Whether it is food or an activity, try to branch out and develop your character a little with your new environment. It makes coping easier and maybe even enjoyable. Plan study times. It is easy to get wrapped up in homework and other activities, but too much of either can take away from the best of your college experience. Organization will help decision making as things come up. |
Academic Rigor | Each professor is passionate regarding their area of expertise and strive to relate it to both the student taking a class as a general requirement and the student majoring on that particular subject. Blue Mountain uses older and methods of teaching such as lecturing, research papers, essays, Blackboard assignments, speeches, PowerPoint presentations and more. Each teacher uses what that believe is ideal for their students and often make adjustments depending on the needs of the students and the course requirements. |
Dorm Life | The dorms provide an adequate amount of space, but do not provide much storage. Maintenance men work during the day and will fill repair request in a timely manner. Girls are not allowed upstairs in the boys dorms and boys are not allowed upstairs in the girls dorms, unless they are moving in or have been giving permission by the dorm resident (or dorm mom/dad). Quiet hours are generally followed and are heavily enforced during the week of finals. The dining hall fee is currently included with the housing fee. The dorm president has formed events such as movie nights for girls to get together for a short period of time to relax outside of their room without feeling as though they were still at school. Overall the dorms are nice. |
Food and Dining | Blue Mountain has been making changes recently to improve the meal quality, which has proven to be a success in several areas. There are options such as the salad bar, pizza making station, sandwich station, ice cream, and then the food line where they offer a different meat and vegetable at every meal. They have recently added a soda machine and peach mango tea. Occasionally they hold special banquets for specific groups, but the dining hall is generally a good setting to meet up with friends. |
What to do for fun | There is always something going on on campus between the three girls societies, two guys societies, intramural sports, basketball, baseball, track and field, softball, tennis, chorale concerts, theater productions, Baptist Student Union and Student Body Association events. The SUB and Gal-ry have become popular gathering spots with the SUB's televisions, ping pong tables and pool table, then the workout equipment and the Mountain Fountain coffee shop newly founded in Gal-ry. It is easy to keep busy on the mountain, but if you want to get off campus Tupelo it is about 45 minutes away. |
Bang for the buck | I will admit there are some things that could change to make Blue Mountain more pleasurable, but the opportunities alone make this campus so wonderful. It holds on to the traditional morals and values the history of the school, but this campus is not out-dated. It is maintained properly with care and concern for the present occupants and those to come in the future to Blue Mountain. Those who have left Blue Mountain often return to visit or pay tribute to the campus and I believe that many in the future will do the same. |
