In three sentences | Wheaton is a small, intensive liberal arts college in Norton, MA. While the town of Norton isn't a great college town and the campus is small, Wheaton has a great campus community with active and engaged students, faculty, and staff. Classes are intimate, professors are intelligent and accessible. |
Tips for prospective students | Wheaton, like any school, is really what you make of it--put yourself out there, attend events, meet people, and get involved in the things that interest you. If you can't find it, create it! |
Academic Rigor | Wheaton's academics are intense if you want them to be, and professors are good at challenging student without overwhelming them. While some students try to skate by, there are no fluff classes and the distribution requirements keep people from getting too lazy. |
Dorm Life | The dorms are fairly standard, with liberal housing policies and great dorm communities, especially on upper campus. Highlights of housing include the theme houses, which host campus events. |
Food and Dining | There are two dining halls, and other options such as the cafes, but overall the food selection is fairly limited and mediocre. |
What to do for fun | Go out in Providence or Boston, or hang out on campus. The town of Norton offers virtually nothing. |
Bang for the buck | Wheaton offers a great education, if you can find the funding. Financial aid is pretty good, but definitely look for outside scholarships--it's an incredibly expensive school. Keep an eye out for opportunities such as internships, study abroad, etc--Wheaton is great at making you connections and the alumni are really accessible if you reach out to them. |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | The Dimple is a focal point on campus, a depression in the main quad on campus. The Wheaton Woods are often explored by the more adventurous students, and everyone is required to swim in Peacock Pond before graduating. |
Great for these types of students | Liberal, open-minded, diverse, accepting, enthusiastic, smart, engaged |
Clubs and Activities | Really active clubs, and easy to make your own if you can't find what you want. |
Greek Life | Doesn't exist. |
Campus Safety | Security incidents are few and far between. |

In three sentences | Wheaton College is a great school. They challenge students academically and are very supportive of everyone and their aspirations. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. |
Tips for prospective students | Time management is everything. Balance schoolwork, extracurricular activities and rest well so you can get the best out of the college experience. If you need it ask for help and don't be shy. |
Academic Rigor | The school has very knowledgeable professors and the coursework is appropriate for learning and for building a bright future. Classes are small. Teachers are available for one on one attention. |
Dorm Life | Some dorms could be renovated due the age of the college but overall most are very habitable and nice. There are dorms of every size and shape. There are singles, doubles, triples, quads and even houses. |
Food and Dining | The food can get repetitive but it is overall good. I would like to see more of a variety and better flavors on meals. |
What to do for fun | Everyone gets along well so activities around campus are entertaining. There are many clubs to join and people to meet. Boston is also less than an hour away for a great getaway. |
Bang for the buck | The college is great but it would be even better if it were less expensive. The food could be better. They could spend less on agriculture in order to pay for other things. |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | Tradition is a large part of our school. There is a tradition that every student has to swim across the pond at least once before graduating. There are many other ones that make up common activities around school. |
Great for these types of students | People who enjoy living in towns and wish to go to small schools. Everyone is friendly so anyone who is a people person or even shy can find a friend. |
Clubs and Activities | There are many clubs and they are very well managed. They are fun and open to anyone. There is a club for everyone. |
Greek Life | We don't have a greek life. |
Campus Safety | Campus safety is always patrolling around campus keeping us safe and available for emergencies. They have cars, bikes and even scooters. They are friendly as well. |

In three sentences | Wheaton College is what a liberal arts college is supposed to be! The teachers care about the success of their students, the students want to change the events of the world around them, and the entire campus is committed to improving the experience of all those involved in the Wheaton community. Wheaton is a challenging and exciting environment that I recommend for anyone who wants to better their understanding of the world. |
Tips for prospective students | Be completely honest in your application. The admissions office does not expect you to be perfect, but if they would much prefer to know that you have learned from your mistakes and are willing to challenge yourself in order to better your education than to see a perfect resum©. |
Academic Rigor | Wheaton is difficult, but the professors are happy to work with you to improve your work. If you are dissatisfied with a grade, you should speak with them to find out what they are looking for in the next assignment. Doing this has seriously improved the writing quality of many students' work. There are also a variety of tutors available in Kollett Hall; if there is no tutor available at te time you need, many will take time out of their personal schedules to help. |
Dorm Life | Dorms at Wheaton are, for the most part, good. The RAs are forgiving but do their jobs. We have some all-female dorms, but most are coed. The dorms themselves are pretty large, and roommates tend to be well-selected. |
Food and Dining | Dining is by far Wheaton's worst attribute. It's not horrible, but it definitely lacks. If you're willing to walk to upper campus (which isn't bad, it just means you can't be lazy), you can go to Emerson, which has great food. Emerson's limit is its hours, which are rather limited. Chase, the dining hall on lower campus with longer hours, is more of a comfort food hall. Chase Square has good food (pasta, stir fry, a salad bar, a variety of soups, and prepared meals and sides), but Chase Round is a grill with some pizza and leftovers from Chase Square's dinner. Once you know how to work the food system at Wheaton, however, you'll be fine. |
What to do for fun | Having fun is not hard, despite the way we all complain about it. Many houses on campus (we don't have Greek Life, but we do have theme houses that throw great parties) throw parties on the weekends, but there are other ways to have fun, too. There are always movies put on by BAACHUS (a group which promotes staying sober), and there are often large dances or fun activities. |
Bang for the buck | Wheaton is rather expensive if you don't get sufficient aide. While the price is standard for small, liberal arts schools, it is still excessive. That being said, the cost is high because we have many opportunities and resources on campus. |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | There is the dimple, which is a sort of indent on upper campus on which there are many social activities. When the weather is nice, people sit out on the Dimple and enjoy the sun. |
Great for these types of students | If you care about the world around you, enjoy challenging yourself, and don't mind a small student body, then Wheaton is perfect for you! |
Clubs and Activities | Clubs at Wheaton are fantastic! If you don't see what you're looking for, you can create your own club, too. |
Greek Life | We don't have Greek Life at Wheaton, but we do have theme houses, which are somewhat similar (though less obnoxious). |
Campus Safety | Safety at Wheaton is great! Any issues are dealt with reasonably (though sometimes Public Safety does seem to think it has more power than it does), and people will work hard to help you if you are ever worried about your safety. |

In three sentences | Wheaton College is a microcosm of life beyond college, where you can explore your independence and network. The campus allows you to utilize open space and stretch your creativity as far as you are willing to. Students learn the value of concepts such as time management diversity. |
Tips for prospective students | Be ready to have a good college experience and bridge the gap between adolescence and adulthood. |
Academic Rigor | Classes are challenging, no doubt about that. However resources are plenty. Tutors and study spaces are always available, especially the library. Use them to your advantage. |
Dorm Life | From wellness dorms to theme houses, Wheaton College has a variety of living spaces to accomodate your needs. |
Food and Dining | Two on-campus dining halls are available for all students on campus. With unlimited points on every student's meal plan, feel free to visit as many times as your heart desires. And trust me, you will come back for more! |
What to do for fun | We're lucky to be located between two well-known cities: Boston, MA and Providence, RI. There is easy access to those hotspots from on campus, and the opportunities for fun in those cities are endless. However, every weekend, there are cool events happening. Keep an eye out for advertisements posted literally everywhere to turn for the upcoming weekend's adventures. There are also events happening throughout the week to be aware of. |
Bang for the buck | Academically and socially, you will get a great 4-years for the money you spend going to Wheaton. |
Clubs and Activities | We many different clubs on campus, and this is one of the aspects of campus life that really pull together students with similar interests. They help keep the campus very upbeat. |
Campus Safety | Campus Safety is very reliable, and very personable. You get to know a lot of them on first-name basis. They are there for your best interest. |

Tips for prospective students | Plan yourself wisely when it comes to spending money Use time wisely, Wheaton is academically challenging Get involve in campus activities as much as possible, It will be a nice way to be involved and get to know people. Academic Rigor | It is an excellent school, you will have a one o one relationship with faculty members, they become like your family and they are so much help with everything. You have to work hard and read a lot. |
Dorm Life | The doubles have good sizes, if you have the right roommate you should be completely fine. Try getting a single for your sophomore year, it is hard but it is good to have your space, bathrooms are coed but they're clean most of the time. In general, the dorms specially beard are in great shape, the ones that are the oldest but usually for freshmen is the YMC quad |
Food and Dining | Honestly, the food can be better quality and healthier. One good thing is that chase is open until 12am, which is helpful when it comes to tight schedules. The deserts are great, but the food in general can improve. |
What to do for fun | Wheaton is located in a very small town which is in the middle of providence and boston, at first for me it was hard to get used to life in such a small place because i come from a crowded city with a lot of cars. If you own a car you will never experience any problems because you will be able to get everywhere, if not it is a little more complicated but there is a gatra that takes you to the train station and you can enjoy of those amazing cities. On campus, there is always something to do, an activity planned, a dance, a party, an event which will keep your mind occupied all the time. It is a great place full of great people |
Bang for the buck | Wheaton is full of traditions and it reinforces moral values in a great manner. |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | Only seniors can walk through the front door of the chapel, and only them can sit in the stairs of the library. You need to jump in the pond and swim before you graduate Wheaton College |
Great for these types of students | This school is great for people who love liberal arts education mostly focused on pyschology, education and the pre-med track, as well as hispanic studies. You need to bare in mind that Wheaton is a challenging school, but the education is great |
Clubs and Activities | There is a whole variety of clubs such as latino student association, black student association, Distinguished Women of Color, SEA BOARD, International Student Assoc, Community Service, amongst others. They always have activities planned that make your days more exciting at wheaton college. |
Greek Life | No greek life, but theme houses which focus on representing some activities or moral values to the campus and show them that there are different ways of lifestyles |
Campus Safety | Public Safety is always around, in my experience during my first year i have no complaints. |
