Tuition, Cost & Aid

Affordability and Cost

Average Net Price Average net price for full-time, first-time degree/certificate-seeking undergraduates paying the in-state or in-district tuition rate who were awarded grant or scholarship aid from federal, state or local governments, or the institution. Other sources of grant aid are excluded. Aid awarded anytime during the full aid year is included.

Average net price is generated by subtracting the average amount of federal, state or local government, or institutional grant and scholarship aid from the total cost of attendance. Total cost of attendance is the sum of published tuition and required fees (lower of in-district or in-state), books and supplies and the weighted average room and board and other expenses.

Out-of-State Tuition Out-of-state tuition is the tuition charged by institutions to those students who do not meet the state's or institution's residency requirements. Additional Costs
Room and Board The weighted average for room and board and other expenses is generated as follows:
  • (amount for on-campus room, board and other expenses * # of students living on-campus.
  • + amount for off-campus (with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus with family
  • + amount for off-campus (not with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus not with family)
divided by the total # of students. Students whose living arrangements are unknown are excluded from the calculation. For some institutions the # of students by living arrangement will be known, but dollar amounts will not be known. In this case the # of students with no corresponding dollar amount will be excluded from the denominator.

What Students Are Saying

At WSC the education value was just rated number 1, ahead of Harvard for the college that offers a great education for the best value! After I graduate I will have very little to re-pay and will not be in debt for years.
Kelsey from Templeton, MA
The education, the campus, and the town of Westfield and everything it has to offer is well worth going to. There's also alot of support provided by tutors, academic advisers, and other programs. You'll have fun!
Blessing from Springfield, MA
Although Westfield does not have any unusual traditions or locations, we are well known for being inhabited by black squirrels along with the typical grey squirrels. Some students even believe the black squirrel should be the University mascot because they are unique to the town of Westfield.
Lindsay from South Windsor, CT
WSU is the most inexpensive school I applied to and at this school the personal attention and respect you get is definitely worth it, I feel at safe, comfortable, and at home here and I couldn't ask for anything more. This school is definitely a good bargain in comparison to some other schools in the state and surrounding area.
Ariana from Medford, MA
I believe you definitely get what you pay for, i would certainly be fine with paying the tuition here for everything I'm receiving in return for it.
Manuel from Springfield, MA
In state and out of state tuitions really aren't that bad at all, considering the campus and the amount of majors out there. There is always something to do and the people are really cool. It is definitely worth looking into the school.
Amanda
Westfield State provides stellar education to those who desire to learn for an affordable price! There are so many resources, travel opportunities (study abroad) and even non academic trips and activities that the University provides. Westfield State tries to create an enjoyable, unforgettable experience for all students.
