In which ways do you feel you are learning and growing?

UNM did an amazing job of preparing me for my future. My classes were both practical and theoretical, and what I learned stays with me as a working professional. The instructors are amazing. They care and want to see students succeed.

How are you enjoying your time at this college?

The campus is beautiful, and there are plenty of things to do nearby in the city.

What tips can you share with prospective students?

Apply yourself and you'll succeed. Ask questions when you have them, use the library when needed, and look for ways to get involved in one of the many clubs or groups on campus.

How would you describe the food and dining options?

Whether you eat on campus or at one of the many nearby restaurants, the food is good!!

In what clubs or organiziations have you participated and how have they impacted your overall experience?

I was a member of Net Impact, and now that I'm a graduate, I see that it shaped the way I view sustainability in business.

How does this institution support campus safety or mental health and wellness programs?

There are call boxes throughout the campus, it's well lighted, and campus security is always available.

Am learning a lot
The school is a good place to go and get your degree. I am studying Business. The classes are harder for this major than other majors. There is a lot of writing and reading. However, the teachers are extremely nice, and they are very helpful. They do not like for students to fail. They will go out there way to help you as long as you give effort in trying to succeed. I thought I was a good writer, until I started writing in college. The teachers helped me identify what areas I needed help with, and how to improve those areas. I am learning more than I ever thought I could learn. The school also helps you by giving outside help on campus to ensure you pass all your classes. I have learned more about science in my first year of school than I have in all of my educational years combined. They also offer subjects in areas that I really like, which encourages me to continue taking extra courses and minor in more than just one field I enjoy. The school is helping me learn alot bout not only academic things, but also about myself and life.
Am enjoying being here
I love going to the school. Living on campus is a great experience for anyone. No matter how much you think you want to live off campus, it is fun living on campus. The enviroment helps students study, and stay focus on shool. Being a student who stays on campus lets you get the real feel of college.
Bang for the buck
It is worth the money. It may be expensive, but all colleges are. The good side of the paying for school here is that you get your money's worth. They ensure that the campus stays live, and that students are safe any where they go.
Tips for prospective students
Be ready to have fun. Don't come here feeling like you want be able to succeed. If you believe in yourself, so will everyone else.
Great for these types of students
The school is great for anyone. NO matter what your degree is, you will be able to have fun, as well as find time to study and pass your classes.

Am learning a lot
I am learning a lot here at UNM. They are a top of the line school with excellent professors, GAs, and TAs. UNM has managed to find some of the mos interesting and qualified professors, GAs, and TAs. Last semester I took Philosophy 101 with Ethan Mills. He is a graduate student at UNM and teaches a few classes in the philosophy department. He has written a chapter in Steven Colbert's book I am America, and so can you. He made the class interesting and fun to many students (like myself) who have no interest in philosophy and were dreading the class. Ethan Mills is just one example, all of UNM's faculty are of his caliper, which makes attending UNM an educational and pleasureful activity.

As I mentioned the educational side of UNM is second to none. I think the other main aspect of a college that is taken into account when deciding where to attend is the campus and livability. UNM has a beautiful campus, filled with trees and grass. UNM even has a duck pond with a waterfall and dozens of ducks located in the center of campus. It is a joy to walk or ride my bike to classes because of the terrific scenery. Even when not going to class I often go for an afternoon bike ride just for the scenery.
Bang for the buck
UNM has very competitive tuition rates for both in state and out of state students. I am from New Mexico and initially wanted to go out of state. I applied for several schools in Oregon and was accepted to all of them with scholarships. I soon realized that because of New Mexico's lottery scholarship, UNM was by far the best bang for my buck. UNM also led me through the loan application for the small amount that I do need. UNM is not just for in state students though. UNM is very affordable for out of state students. I know many out of state students who chose UNM because it was cheaper than their local universities. UNM offers many scholarships to out of state students including a full ride regents scholarship. Even though UNM is very affordable, it is by no means a second hand school. UNM has top of the line professors and has several nationally ranked degree programs. UNM class rooms sport excellent technology to aid in learning. All classrooms have at least one protector, DVD player, and computer. Computer pods are scattered around campus with excellent processors and 22 monitors. Laptops are available for rent and several of UNM's libraries as well. UNM is very affordable but compromises nowhere.
Tips for prospective students
If you are at all interested in UNM, I urge you to take a campus tour, and apply. I also urge you to find and apply for any scholarship you can find.
Great for these types of students
UNM is perfect for almost all students. UNM offers a large variety of degress that suit just about everyones interests.

UNM pushes a lot of self responsibility, so I have learned quite a bit about how to mind my own finances and career goals. It does offer support though, so it's not like they just abandon you. You just have to be responsible enough to go and get the help yourself. The classes are also usually taught by good teachers, and there are many learning opportunities about campus.
Am enjoying being here
It is a beautiful campus, but they do not enforce their non-smoking policy very well, so its beauty is marred by cancer sticks and their users. The teachers are usually very helpful, and the dean takes complaints seriously. The Zimm library on campus is an amazing resource and a great placed to study.
Bang for the buck
If you are a resident of NM then UNM is almost completely free for you. I've spent maybe $200 total in tuition and fees for my first two semesters here. Getting one other scholarship means your books are covered too. Technically, because of my other scholarship, I have yet to spend a dime.
Tips for prospective students
Double check what your academic advisers say. They know about their own department, but they are useless when it comes to financial aid. Go talk to the financial aid office if you have questions about that, or you may lose your scholarships because of misinformation. Also, get into your major's college as soon as possible. You'll have better advisers then.
Great for these types of students
Anyone can succeed here if they are willing to ask for help. There are many resources available for any student.

Am learning a lot
I have learned a lot from all of my classes at the University of New Mexico. All of the professors do their best to make themselves accessible to students even in the large class sizes. The classes have offered me a new and fresh perspective to many current issues and they have opened my eyes to many new opportunities.
Am enjoying being here
The University of New Mexico is such a fun atmosphere. You will meet some of the best friends of your life. There is always something to do on campus, whether it be getting involved in one of the many organizations, a fraternity or a sorority, exploring the rich cultural city of Albuquerque, or checking out the spirited Lobo athletic squads. Whatever you decide to do, you will definitely enjoy to be a Lobo, as I am now.
Bang for the buck
The University of New Mexico is a wonderful institution for a very great price. It is not often anymore that you find a top tier school with wonderful financial opportunities. If you decide to attend the University of New Mexico for your undergraduate or graduate years, you need not worry about struggling to pay for school.
Tips for prospective students
Do well in high school. Although admission standards are not real high to gain admittance to UNM, do your best before you get here. College is different from high school and your time is not as planned making what time you have valuable. Finally, get involved when you get here to UNM. College is a fun and new experience, and getting involved will make it even better!
Great for these types of students
Whatever you want to study, I guarantee that UNM offers it. Whether you are interested in Law School, Medical School, or anything else your heart desires, you will find it at the University of New Mexico.

This school has different subjects that one can learn about, it just depends on who wants to learn and how dedicated they are. I certainly love the dance classes and language, but I am horrified of the math ones. It just takes time to know how to study. Also make sure you communicate with your teachers, they usually can help you with any problems.
Am enjoying being here
This is a small campus, but I really enjoy walking around. Plus, everyday you can meet someone new who might end up being a new friend. Also in order to enjoy any college, you need to get involved.
Bang for the buck
Hmmm I am out of state and it is too much sometimes for certain services like the dorms. Yet, I do like my dorm.
Tips for prospective students
Find out about scholarships ahead of time, make sure you know the different deadlines, meet your teachers, and get involved as much as you can, because that enhances your college experiences.
Great for these types of students
Pre-medicine for sure.

Did learn a lot
I really enjoyed attending this school. The teachers were awesome and really seem to care about their jobs as well as the students. My learning experience was great and I had plenty of fun in the process.
Did enjoy being here
While attending, I lived on campus in the dorms. The experience was well worth it. I had a chance to meet a lot of really cool peole. The campus was a great size & also very multicultural.

There are so many fields to choose from it is hard to be sure the school you have chosen is right one. I am currently a sophomore majoring in Environmental Science and Mass Communication. I am just getting into the classes needed for my major, but i can discuss the core classes I have taken thus far. Many of the entry level classes are just that, entry level learning. It is the professors which provide you with the correct methods to learn the material, and most of the ones I have taken are great. With the exception of a few math courses, and an intro to philosophy class, I have learned a great deal while attending this university.
Am enjoying being here
I love the campus. It is truly beautiful. There are many different designs for the buildings, and the whole campus is covered in trees. Almost every building is different, and the people follow that pattern. There are so many people to meet, and in my experience most are just as friendly as your willing to be. Great environment.
Bang for the buck
I am a resident of New Mexico, so i pay next to nothing for tuition(less than $3,000 a year). I am unsure on how much non-resident tuition costs, but i have heard it is still pretty low.
Tips for prospective students
There are two areas were great improvement is needed. One is the parking situation, and the other is the University Advisement office. Parking is horendous, but there is no way around it. I can only provide a warning. They are strict about enforcing parking violations, and you have to pay over one hundred and fifty dollars to park anywere close to campus. A permit for a lot further away will cost you less, but with the hords of students going to class at the same times the shuttles often move at snail pace. The University Advisemnt Office is another issue, but after your core curriculum is finished you no longer have to deal with them. The issues here are long waits to even see an advisor, different information from different advisers, and they make you follow a flawed process in order to register.
Great for these types of students
Anyone who enjoys an open campus, with a whole lot of college student populating the surrounding area. The people are quite fun to be around, and there are many of the draws of a big city. I think it's the perfect starter city for anyone looking to live in a metropolis one day.

The University of New Mexico is a great university; it is very diverse. I guarantee that you will find yourself immersed in different cultures. The people here are amazing, I'm currently doing work-study here at the university and I love it. The teachers do not like for students to fail, always visit them during their office hours. They will go out there way to help you as long as you give effort in trying to succeed. There are many resources for students available and for students to succeed. They have CAPS, which is tutoring center opened to students for free.
Am enjoying being here
I love going to the school. The environment helps students study, and stay focus on school. Working on campus is a great opportunity; the people here set you up for success. They understand that going to school is a priority and will help you accomplish your goals. Not to mention that the campus is beautiful, many students bike here, it’s very easy to commute. They enforce their non-smoking policy. Many of the libraries are opened late, so student s can study; during finals they are opened 24 hours a day.
Bang for the buck
There are many opportunities for students to apply for scholarships and financial aid. It offers the New Mexico’s lottery scholarship for students who completed at least their senior year of high school in New Mexico; students get the opportunity to have their tuition paid for four years. The whole campus has Internet students can use for free. There are computer pods all over campus and in many locations, so it is very easy for students to have access to them. Not only that but they offer free bus passes, students get to ride the city bus for free. It is worth the money.
Tips for prospective students
Take advantage of resources available for students such as tutoring center.
Review your work throughout the semester.
Talk to an academic advisor before dropping any classes.
Make sure you get holds removed from your account before registration.
Don't wait till last minute to register for classes.
Great for these types of students
Great for all kinds of students.

I have learned the waters and have experienced the best things that are expected out of college. I plan to be a graduate student here at UNM because I find that I am making steady progress here. I have not failed at anything here because the classes and teachers are understanding, which is not something you would get from just any other college... but I could be wrong because this is the only college I have attended. I am lucky to have gone to UNM first before any other college.
Am enjoying being here
The classes are great! The teachers are giving me everything I need to succeed, but the resident life has got to be one of the most stressful things I have ever had to deal with. Since this is my second year first semester, I hope that the same stressful situations do not occur so I can be thoroughly happy at the university. I am also glad we are getting a new president at UNM. Advisement also has become better but in the beginning of my college career it was beyond fixable, it was just plain awful.
Bang for the buck
Because I was set back a whole semester I have had to spend money on things that were unnecessary. It was not a good time for me at all financially but I am working on getting everything back on track and I am looking into better advisement at UNM. Lets just say, when you are a freshmen you will fail... but then you will learn. I came to college to learn not to be taught and that is what I am doing.
Tips for prospective students
If you are not goal driven, if you are not success craving, do not waste your time. Come to college to better yourself and your knowledge of the world. There is a lot to learn here about life, about culture, about common sense and about our world. Join something that will become revolutionary... change at least one persons life that you meet. Live by a mantra for your first semester and realize it was silly. Mess up and rebuild your confidence, it is all worth it. Use what you learn to survive in our tough world today. When I say make a difference, I mean it. The most important thing is learn how to find yourself. College can be a lot more rewarding then just a steady good paying job. When your done here, another piece of your puzzle will have been created and you will be one step closer to complete. Suck it up and reap the benefits of college.
Great for these types of students
The University of New Mexico is diverse. That is an obvious statement, but not a lot of people believe they will find their place. Great thing about UNM, you can make your own place AND, they let you. In fact, they encourage it. You can create your own degree, your own club/ organization and you can choose to live where you want. That is half the battle, so anybody who has the quality of elitism, or at the very least, goals they would like to achieve, this is your place and you can make it how ever you please. If you are a slacker... we have classes and degrees for you too.
