University of New Mexico-Main Campus
Located near old Route 66 in Albuquerque, the University of New Mexico is New Mexico’s flagship public university. UNM is home to 12 colleges conferring bachelor’s degrees in 94 academic programs and its Health Sciences Center is New Mexico’s largest health care treatment and educational institution. For students from different backgrounds, UNM is a federally designated Hispanic-Serving Institution and the campus Division for Equity and Inclusion promotes a number of diversity initiatives such as the LGBTQ Resource Center. UNM also fields 20 men’s and women’s athletic squads and its basketball teams play in an arena colloquially known as “The Pit.”
