What Students Are Saying

Don't slack off during senior year! Schools still look at those transcripts! Also, GET EXCITED! You're going into your first year of college! It can be scary going to a big school at first, but K Crew holds tons of activities for you to meet new people and try new things.
Kristen from Pickerington, OH
Definitely live on campus for at LEAST one year. It's awesome! Apply early for housing though... or you wont get your assignment until late summer and you definitely wont get the dorm you want. GET INVOLVED! There are so many opportunities to do this, don't worry. Take advantage of resources like The Study (free tutoring), W.T. Young Library, and the Johnson Center (AMAZING physical fitness facility). Also... don't buy a weak umbrella... it will be destroyed by the Patterson Office Tower Wind Tunnel in seconds! haha
Kelsey from Georgetown, KY
Live on south campus!! That is where just about everything is at. Also- be involved in whatever way suits you. There are so many opportunities and organizations (sororities, fraternities, clubs, intramurals, jobs, study groups, religious groups, and more!). Don't be afraid to do anything, everyone is friendly (seriously!). Especially as a freshman, everyone is in the same boat and everyone pretty much understands that. College is like a second chance, especially at UK.
Theresa from Lousiville, KY
I would tell anyone thinking about coming here to take a few test trials of your schedule once you figure it out, because if you don't, on the first day you will be late to EVERY class :)
Demetria from LOUISVILLE, KY
come with an ambitious and outgoing attitudes! the ambition will help you survive classes and being outgoing with help you make friends who will be there for you!
Anujin from Elk Grove Village, IL
It is a large school, which tends to allow some students to get lost but if you are committed to finding a niche or group to help you succeed & encourage you, you will do well. It takes work and commitment but the University of Kentucky is definitely a place that you can succeed.
Garrett from Lexington, KY
-make yourself known in your department. if your major is social work, then go to the school of social work and talk with the administrators and faculty.
-apparently, lexington, ky is located in tornado valley. most of the buildings have designated safety rooms. know your buildings and the locations of its safety rooms.
-a couple of buildings have rooftops lounges. lexington is beautiful at night.
-prepare to do a lot of walking. uky's campus is sprawling.
marini from chicago, il
the campus if big so take some time in memorizing where the different buildings are in order to not get lost. make sure to have a general idea to which classes you want because fill up fast.
adrian from pittsburgh, pa
Get involved! There is no better way to feel like a part of your school that to join a group that you're interested in. It's the best way to make friends and make a big school feel small.
