What Students Are Saying
Don't play around your first year, stay focused, do your assignments ahead of time, & its very important to go to class.
Di'Andra from Houston, TX
Some students start their first semester off and get blindsided by the fun that they start to fail. I would prefer you balance out extracurricular activities and your work. If you were to flunk there's programs such as STARZ to help you get back on track!
Mahogany from Beaumont, TX
go to class. go to class. go to class.
stay on the ball. start and finish homework early.

Raven from Beaumont, TX
Consider Lamar as the place to attend if you desire to focus on your studies. I'm currently attending for Engineering and there are actually people in the department looking for jobs FOR YOU! Yes, there are people actually looking to get you into an internship QUICK! Lots of engineering options here, ideal for a economic hardship in this day and age.
Michael from Austin, TX
As you should with all colleges, a scheduled visit is a must. In addition, you might want to attend a sporting event. Sporting events help portray what the student life is like, while campus visits often do not.
Krista from Rising Star, TX
The professors are so welcoming, don't be shy to ask any questions.
Karla from Port Arthur, TX
i advise them to maintain focused on the goals that they have for their selves, that will make them that successful person that they strive to be in the long run.
Shaundrea from Houston, TX
take advantage of the stars program. it is very helpful and i would also recommend that students study as much as possible. it pays off
Diamond from Houston, TX
Just go to class, it really isn't hard to show up. Most classes have a grade with attendance, so right there that's an easy grade. Never shy away from asking your professor for help. Ever! It's not embarrassing and use their knowledge to get better grades.
