Affordability and Cost
Average Net Price Average net price for full-time, first-time degree/certificate-seeking undergraduates paying the in-state or in-district tuition rate who were awarded grant or scholarship aid from federal, state or local governments, or the institution. Other sources of grant aid are excluded. Aid awarded anytime during the full aid year is included.
Average net price is generated by subtracting the average amount of federal, state or local government, or institutional grant and scholarship aid from the total cost of attendance. Total cost of attendance is the sum of published tuition and required fees (lower of in-district or in-state), books and supplies and the weighted average room and board and other expenses.

What Students Are Saying
FSU has a bus service that runs from 7am to 7pm and it’s free to students as part of your tuition. The student football tickets are also a great value in my opinion. FSU also offers many scholarships and grants to those students who meet the eligibility requirements. There are also a number of inexpensive hotels around the campus for parents to stay at while visiting their student.

With the current budget cuts in Florida, it is difficult to do many things including getting an education. Luckily, FSU works with the budget crisis committee and so far has not cut anything vital to the education system or the student activities at FSU. A student here can get a great education and have fun for one of the lowest rates in the state.

Florida State University has some of the lowest in-state tuition in the entire country for an amazing education! As long as you work your hardest and study for everything then you'll do fine! Tallahassee has so much to offer college students!
Turner from Tallahassee, FL
The cost is very low, but don't let the cheap factor fool you. The professors are over qualified for their positions. The university also awards hundreds of students with scholarships. Becoming a student, you also gain free activities, such as bowling, movies, and a large gym. There are also free activities everyday advertised in the Union.

Unless you have a full ride to any college or university it will cost a pretty penny, but no matter where you decide to get your education it will always be worth it. However, at FSU our tuition pays for a number of perks such as our transportation. We have buses that run on and off campus during the day, and our Safe Bus and the Night Nole at night. It also covers our fitness facility which has state of the art equipment, free weights, olympic size swimming pool, spa area, food/nutrition experts.

The change in Bright Futures policies is going to effect all recipients. FSU faculty gives their all to students who make the effort for themselves to make sure that they will pass classes and not be forced to drop and repay fees because of poor grades. Another GREAT perk is that there are so many things included in tuition. Free on and off campus transportation (certain areas), access to a state of the art gymnasium, FSU reservation, and many other discounted items are available to students all by simply flashing their FSU ID card.
Kristin from Tallahassee, FL
While the in state tuition is a little bit on the high side in the state, the campus definitely makes up for it! The professors seem to care, the buildings are well maintained, and the grounds on campus are always clean and blooming with life!
Tanner from Cape Coral, FL
FSU is definitely a bang for your buck. Many out of state students come to FSU because the out-of-state tuition is cheaper than the in-state tuition is in many states. All of the sporting events are included in tuition, so you don't have to worry about paying for a football or basketball ticket every time you want to go to a game. You just provide your student I.D and you get in free! Also, the cost of living up here isn't too horrible. There are a bunch of restaurants that are student friendly, and delicious too.
Jennifer from Tampa, FL
Tuition is not a bad price, but the room & board and meal plan fees are sometimes not worth the money. Do your research on the residence halls (some are very cheap, but they are really gross) and decide if you want to buy a meal plan way ahead of time to save money.
