What Students Are Saying
Make sure you apply for scholarships and save money, don't forget to apply early (you get extra money for it!). If you attend FIT take advantage of all clubs and be active in the community don't stay in your dorm.
Angeline from Palm Springs, FL
If your looking for a peaceful, small, urban college, this is the place for you. There is a lot of activity because FIT is located in a city, but it can also be very relaxing because the beach and the harbor is only 15 minutes away.
Evadne from Vero Beach, FL
Visit the schools you are considering. See what the students are like, Talk with the teachers in person or through email. Look up the clubs the school offers, and check out reviews. You need to find a place with good credentials, inspiring professors, a fun atmosphere and you have to make sure you'll fit in. If FIT is the place for you then don't hesitate. When you do choose a school and are in college find friends they're out there and it'll make the whole experience a million times better if you get to share it with true friends. Oh and always ask upperclassmen for advice. Most of us won't try to trick you because we remember what it was like in your shoes so we'll warn you which teachers to avoid, which places on campus are best to eat at on which days, etc. Make an upperclassmen buddy they will be your best, most knowledgeable friend.
Brittany from Cape Coral, FL
Make friends with anyone, but mostly with professors and employees, because they will help you through out your years at the school. Also, if you can take any basic courses like calculus, chemistry, or english writing at a college before actually starting at FIT it will come at a great advantage! Credits transfer, you save time, and money!
Foreign at fit
Get involved early! I am apart of Greek life on campus and it was the smartest decision i made. It gets you involved fast and meeting lots of new people. This is important for us ladies who are outnumbered at this school, you get the needed girl time. Also get to know your academic adviser, they will save your life someday.
Sarah
They have rolling admission, but if you get everything in by early January then you get priority consideration for scholarships (check fit.edu/e-mail the admissions department or your admissions counselor for the dates for the year you're applying). You'll also know the decision in some cases in just a few weeks! Same goes for the FAFSA, file early and you'll get priority and also in the past there have been early filer grants where if you file your FAFSA before a certain date you'll get another 1,000 for that year (not this year so they may not be doing it again). ***If you visit and attend a campus tour, half-day, or full-day event, on campus then you get another $1,000 per year automatically if you attend! It's worth the visit - you can get into Florida early and go to Disney, see a game, explore Melbourne or the state, go to the beach, and get some more money for tuition!
Genevieve from Brookline, NH
Be prepared to work and get engaged in academic after school activities like professional organizations and chapters.
Joseph from Perkasie, PA
Pick classes that pertain to your major and don't overload on electives. Also, don't be shy about getting extra help from a professor or a student assistant. Everyone is here to help.
D'Andre from Palm Bay, FL
Get the meal plan with the most flex cash!! You will thank me later. Also live in Columbia Village Freshman year. Roberts is community style, and while its cool for a little while..... its definitely worth it in the long run to have your own room
Stephanie from Hudsonville, MI
