In three sentences | Delta State University is a small school where the teachers genuinely care about the education their students earn. Everyone knows everyone, and we are all one big Fighting Okra family. Delta State University is a perfect example of what a university should be like. |
Tips for prospective students | Get involved on campus. Getting to know people is easier that way. Just sitting in your dorm room won't help you make friends. Study a little every day though. Don't let your social life get the best of you. Go out and have fun, but make sure you make time to study and get your work done. |
Academic Rigor | My classes are not hard, but if I don't put forth any effort, my grades greatly reflect that. |
Dorm Life | Dorm life has it's pros and cons. Being on campus all the time is great when it comes to saving gas and being involved. However, living with a couple hundred people can be stressful. Sometimes when peole are cooking in the dorms, the fire alarms go off in the middle of the night. That is obnoxious. Overall, though, I love living on campus because it makes being involved easier, and I love living in such close proximity to my best friends. |
Food and Dining | Cafeteria food is never the best meal in the world. That does not really change no matter where you go. The cafeteria staff is kind, though. In our student union, we have Chik-Fil-A, Burger Studio, a coffee place, and a smoothie place. That is not many choices, but they are all good. I enjoy my dining selection here at Delta State. |
What to do for fun | Cleveland is a small town, but there is always something to do. Since everyone knows everyone, you can pretty much always find friends to hang out with. The typical Thursday night hang out is On The Rocks. There are a few places around town that are good to go hang out or eat. |
Bang for the buck | I love Delta State University, and I would not trade my education or friends here for anything. My teachers are all wonderful and extremely intelligent. My friends are all different, but we all have our similiarities. My experience here, so far, has been amazing. I would recommend Delta State to anyone and everyone trying to decide on a college. |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | Our unofficial mascot is the Fighting Okra. |
Great for these types of students | Delta State is great for any type of student. |
Clubs and Activities | The organizations on campus are not like most colleges where they are run by Greeks. Clubs and activities are for everyone. |
Greek Life | I am not Greek, but a lot of my friends are. The Greeks don't just stick to their fraternities and sororities. They are very sociable and include everyone who wants to be Greek regardless of what the person looks like or acts like. |
Campus Safety | I feel very safe on campus. Campus police patrols 24 hours a day. They are kind to the students and do their best to know us on a more personal level. |

Great for these types of students | Delta students, Small town students, Recreation students, Nursing students, Education students, Farm Family students. |
Clubs and Activities | DSU has a variety of sororities, fraternities, as well as majors' clubs and societies. |
Greek Life | Greek life can be fun. I personally am not in a Greek at DSU, but I still hang out with the Greeks and part take in some of the social functions open to the community or students of DSU. |
Campus Safety | It is not a closed gate campus, but police are monitoring campus constantly. Also, the police are very polite and open to help students in need, whether it be to get into a locked car or into their locked dorm building. |

Last year the musical group Blast performed and it was amazing. Also being a student here you will get major discounts on the tickets. Sometimes you won't even have to pay half price. |
Bang for the buck | You cant beat the quality of education you will receive here for the price you are going to pay. It's just that simple. If you don't believe me then look it up. Some bigger schools compared to us will have you pay more than twice what we offer. |

Great for these types of students | Delta State is great for the type of student who wants to do it all. A student who wants to make good grades, be Greek Affiliated, be apart of the SGA (Student Government Association), be in different honor societies, and you will find that most of our students here are apart of more than one organization. |
Clubs and Activities | There are so many different groups here at Delta State it would be impossible for me to name them all. Just start we have a wide variety of religious groups here on campus, some of which are the Baptist Student Union, The Wesley, and Reform University fellowship. We also have an African- American Student Council, Delta Diplomats, and the Pageant board. We also have different honor societies for different majors. Delta State also have different musical groups such as the Wind Ensemble, Chamber Singers, and Percussion Ensemble. We also have intramural sports which any student can play and be a part of. |
