Am learning a lot | I have learned a lot, but it has been tarnished by a few professors who are not as sympathetic to first year students' struggles while adjusting to college life/schoolwork/expectations. |
Am enjoying being here | I love the size of the campus. Its just big enough that there are many different opportunities, but small enough that instructors actually get to know you as more than a number. |
Bang for the buck | In comparison to the private school I was looking at, this is much more financially responsible as a choice. There are a lot of good things on campus that the money goes towards, and they all enhance the college experience. |
Tips for prospective students | Know that it is a notorious party school. If you are not ready for that type of an atmosphere, then it might not be the best place for you. |
Great for these types of students | Great for students coming from smaller to medium sized communities. Especially if they are looking to go to a larger city after graduation. It is a good transition size. |

Am learning a lot | BGSU has great entering freshman programs that help you learn and understand a lot about the campus. It also is good for undecided students and it helps you find your major quicker. There are also many places that offer free tutoring and the teachers are very accessible. |
Am enjoying being here | BGSU campus is not too small or too big. Its not a very urban environment but, if you just want to escape to the city sometimes you can go to Toledo its only 20 minutes away. I have many friends and I love my dorm. |
Bang for the buck | All of the food places around BGSU offer discounts so it very affordable for college students. There are many places such as BW3s and Dairy Queen. The school also offers a lot of scholarships and it sometimes leads to people getting BIG refund checks. |
Tips for prospective students | Just make friends, fill out scholarships, and make the best of the options given to you. |
Great for these types of students | All Majors |

Am learning a lot | The class size and the accessibility to the professors during class and also during office hours is what has made me succeed. The class size at Bowling Green is well sized and very comfortable which makes it easy to build a relationship with your fellow classmates and professors. If you are willing to go the extra mile to get a good grade, so will your professors. |
Am enjoying being here | Bowling Green is always enjoyable. The atmosphere is very welcoming and there is always activities planned for on and off campus. The people are very pleasant and are always willing to help if necessary. The dorm life is exceptional, and has been a great experience for myself and I would recommend it for both first and second year students. I wouldn't choose any other college. GO BGSU FALCONS! |
Bang for the buck | Bowling Green is very beautiful, but it is also very expensive. But money should not hold you back. There are many opportunities for scholarships given by Bowling Green for incoming freshman and also upper-classmen as well. |
Tips for prospective students | Bowling Green is a great college for someone who wants to have a great college experience. They are always entertaining their students. It was very hard for me to leave my family my freshman year of college, but BG made the transition easy. Always go to college with an open mind and a willingness to try new things! |
Great for these types of students | Bowling Green is known for their Education and Business Programs, but that isn't all they offer. They offer many different majors and also different and unique class choices that give people the opportunities to widen their views and experiences while in college. Anyone can attend Bowling Green and have the experience they always wanted, just like I have. |

Am learning a lot | After about the first week in a class you know how things are going to be run and what teaching style that class uses. It is true that some teachers are more difficult than others but they are the ones you want to go for. You will always know with them that you are getting everything that subject has to offer. |
Am enjoying being here | It is a fun place to be but if you need a big city life this really isn't the place. However, there are many places on campus available to students. I love going to the rec for hours at a time. You can work out, go rock climbing, or go for a swim in either of the two pools. |
Bang for the buck | Always fill out your FAFSA |
Tips for prospective students | Keep whatever information they give you at orentation. You can actually use a lot of it. To make it feel more at home join a club, team, or group. |
Great for these types of students | This school is great for students that want a middle of the road school based on size. |

In three sentences | Bowling Geen Stae University is a very diverse campus. I admire it because the faculty and staff reach out to the students because they genuinely care about them. I honestly feel like BGSU has so many different opportunities for students to network for job opportunities and to gain experience in their field of choice before graduation. |
Tips for prospective students | The most helpful tip I have to offer for prospective students is to GET INVOLVED! Take advantage of all of the programs available to them. There are so many organizations geared toward student development and guidance like S.M.A.R.T., Student Support Services and a host of others that will help them better their future. Being involved in different organizations and taking on internships will greatly better their chances of getting a successful job in their post- graduation lives. |
Academic Rigor | Academics at BGSU are very challenging and competitive for students. BGSU students, faculty and staff take pride in their academics and strive to produce nothing less than greatness. Their are many programs for students to get tutors in math, reading writing and just about any subject you can think of. I love this because there is an unlimited supply of help for students who have difficulty with their classes. There is the library, the learniing commons and the writing and math center. |
Dorm Life | Dorm life at BGSU is great! I love how the resident advisers are constantly having activities and informational programs for students in order to reach out to them and make sure that they have the resources that they need. These programs help students resolve conflict with their roommates and also gives them tips on studying. BGSU just built two new gorgeous state of the art dorms in addition to the seven that were already present. They are air conditioned with comfortable lounges for students to study quietly and they also have places to eat and by groceries in them. |
Food and Dining | The food and dining halls are very nice as well. I tell everyone that when it comes to food, BGSU spoils their students! There are so many different places to eat comfortably and many different varieties of healthy foods to eat. Every dorm has a dining hall or some sort of food place in it in addition to the places in the student union. The greenery is my favorite place to eat! |
What to do for fun | For fun, I enjoy going to see old historical movies in the Gish film theater in Hannah hall. I also love to talk walks around campus with friends and go to different programs that student organization put together. |
Bang for the buck | BGSU is very much worth attending. They offer various scholarships for students in need from all different backgrounds. |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | One unusual tradition at BGSU is the University seal. It is a round seal in the middle of campus and you must ALWAYS walk to the right of it! If you walk to the left of it, you will fail your next exam! Its has also been said that University hall is haunted as well as the Gish film theater! |
Great for these types of students | BGSU is a great school for any student who wants to build a better future for themselves and who is not afraid to take action. BGSU encourages students to step out of their comfort zone and meet new people from all different types of backgrounds. |
Clubs and Activities | While attending BGSU, I was able to start my own student organization with help of others. My organization is called Black Girls Rock BG and it is geared towards encouraged unity and friendship among African American college women. There is a lot of conflict in the African American community among women and I wanted to start and organization built towards resolving that conflict. An organization built to empower these women. BGSU has a host of organizations for students to get in to to make them feel welcomed and accepted. These organizations range from applying to their majors, social life, ethnic background, sexual orientation, politics and so much more! |
Greek Life | Greek life is very important at BGSU. there are so many to choose from. Greek life can range from social sororities and fraternities to business and cultural sororities an fraternities. These organizations are geared toward scholarship, leadership and fellowship and they promote unity amongst each other. |
Campus Safety | BGSU promotes a very safe environment for their students. Campus police and campus safety are always patrolling the campus to keep things in order, as well as the Bowling Green police. BGSU keeps students updated with campus update on any mischief that goes on. Safety first! |

Am learning a lot | Although I do not believe that college is quite as hard and scary as high school teachers make it out to be, you do need to apply yourself if you want to learn. I make sure that I always keep up on the reading and study the material learned from time to time before it comes time for the test, and because of this I feel as if I am learning a lot and really taking advantage of the college experience. |
Am enjoying being here | I fell in love with BGSU upon my first visit, but when the time came close to actually come here, I began to get cold feet. My mind was racing with questions and I wondered if I made my decision too quickly and thought I was going to be miserable for the next four years. My first day here changed that completely and my mind was at ease. From the first time you step on the campus, all of the current students and faculty are more than happy to help you with whatever you may need. The entire first weekend was filled with different activities to get you involved with activites on campus and also gave you many opportunites to make new friends! |
Bang for the buck | Compared to other colleges and universities that I looked into, BGSU is in the middle price wise. Anywhere you choose to go is going to be expensive, but I really do believe I am getting my money's worth here! The campus staff truly wants you to succeed and in order to ensure that you do, there are always informative sessions going on about job opportunities on campus and off, internships, clubs, activites, volunteering, etc. The list is really endless! |
Tips for prospective students | My best advice for future students is to make sure that you love the college you pick. Like I said, I fell in love with BGSU right away. There was nothing about it I did not like and because of that, I know I chose the right college. If you are unsure about certain aspects of the college, ask students, not administrators. The current students will tell you what they really think of the university instead of an administrator trying to sell you the college! |
Great for these types of students | BGSU is great for a student that wants a real college experience. It is the complete opposite of high school because the campus population is so big and because of this, the opportunities for you to grow as a person are endless! |

In three sentences | I think the campus is beautiful, well laid out, and the perfect size. There is a good amount of food options to choose from on campus. It is very flat in Bowling Green therefore the campus is extraordinarily windy, which can be a real pain. |
Tips for prospective students | Bring warm clothes. Even if you're from the North and you know what winter is like I would suggest purchasing hats and a long coat to help protect from the wind. If ski masks were socially acceptable that would be the perfect option for Bowling Green. The wind is that bad. It can be quite fierce. Actually go to class. I know that everyone has their days when they don't want to move out of bed, but do it anyway. Paying attention in class and doing well is going to be the most important part of your college experience. Especially when the end of the semester rolls around and you are using your final GPA to try and win scholarships. |
Academic Rigor | So far the academics are challenging but not impossible. I would say that they are the perfect amount of course load for students. |
Dorm Life | Dorm life can be great. If you're a social butterfly it's the perfect atmosphere for you. Even if you're introverted you could sit in your room all day enjoying the isolation. The dorm rooms are nicely sized and equipped with plenty of storage room. I live in one of the less desirable dorms and I love my room. |
Food and Dining | There are plenty of food options on campus. My friends and I always meet for lunch and dinner at one of the dining halls. The dining halls are buffet style and offer a wide variation of food each night. In the Student Union there are plenty of options for picky eaters. Our convenient store on campus, Outtakes, is very over priced but they sell many things that you could purchase for your dorm. |
What to do for fun | In Bowling Green alone there is not much to do for fun. There's a bowling alley, bars if you're old enough, and a lot of people go to Buffalo Wild Wings to watch sports. Toledo is a short trip away so my friends and I often go up to the Toledo Mall. It is huge and fantastic. We also make weekly trips down to Findlay to go to Steak and Shake. |
Bang for the buck | Bowling Green State University is on the cheaper end of other colleges I considered attending. Also the school had my major, marine biology and offered me the most scholarship money. I definitely feel like I made the right choice with Bowling Green because I am getting a great education at cheaper than other schools in Ohio. |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | On campus we have a thing called The Seal. It's a large seal on the ground in the middle of where multiple paths meet. The tradition is that if you are walking on toward The Seal you have to walk on the right side around it or you will fail your final exams. Also legend says that if you and your lover stand on top of The Seal at midnight under a full moon, you will be Falcon Flames forever. |
Great for these types of students | Bowling Green State University is known as one of the most liberal colleges. It's perfect for members of the LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer) community. |
Clubs and Activities | If you have an interest, I'm sure that Bowling Green State University has a club for you. |
Greek Life | Right now our Greek life is under construction. In 2016 we will have all brand new fraternity and sorority houses built. I'm not involved in Greek life but my friends that are say that it is a little bit expensive but still a great experience. |
Campus Safety | This campus is very safe. We have these large blue poles that are lit up during the night that if something were to happen, all you do is touch a button and 911 is called. The campus has its own branch of police that are constantly on patrol and walk through the buildings after hours. To get into dorms you have to have a PED or PROX card that will allow you access to the building. In the dorm that I reside in you have to have your PED to be able to go to different floors even. So if someone that was a threat managed to get into the stairwell, they could not access any of the floors. I feel very safe here. |

Am learning a lot | I would have to say that I am learning alot. Im becoming a better writer as well as a better student. |
Am enjoying being here | I absolutely love it here! The people are so nice and willing to help you with whatever you need. And the professors want you to do your best so therefore you cant get help from them anytime. |
Bang for the buck | You do get a lot of new experieces and your getting a higher curriculum but its very expensive. Then you have to pay for other things while in school. |
Tips for prospective students | When you come in as a entering freshman, let the tutoring center be your best friend. I go there for evertything ranging from college algebra to philosophy. |
Great for these types of students | Great for students that love to communicate with others, who want to succeed in life, love to walk (there will be alot of walking to keep you in shape), and have a thirst for learning! |

Am learning a lot | Learn a lot but you have to research on the professors |
Tips for prospective students | You will enjoy this school's nice environment but the freedom can cause you to loose focus so stay in tune. |
Great for these types of students | Great place for disciplined students |

Academic Rigor | the professors are great and there are a ton of classes to choose from. (remember, this is college, meaning you will get out of it what you put into it.) i would highly recommend taking some random classes just because they sound interesting even if they don't pertain to your major; it all adds to the experience. there will always be professors you don't really agree with, but overall, they are very knowledgeable and work hard to help you understand the material if you put the effort into it. |
Am enjoying being here | I LOVE it! I have made so many good friends and there is always something to do. There's a lot of diversity in interests among both students and professors. People have the idea that it's a party school, but there are definitely other things to do if you don't want to party. If you want to party, you will find them, if you don't, you can avoid them for the most part. |
Bang for the buck | one of the cheapest universities in the area, and i still think i'm getting the full college experience. like most things, you get out of it what you put into it. |
Tips for prospective students | this is college, the professors aren't going to baby you, you have to do the work. also, you might not always agree with everything your peers and/or professors say or think, but it's good to keep an open mind. as far as housing goes, you don't need to live in the new, fancy dorms; harshman and kriecher might be a little farther from most things on campus, but they are awesome! |
Great for these types of students | coming from a small private school, it's a really good size for me. it's big enough that i can surround myself with a ton of different kinds of people, but it's not so big that it's overwhelming. |
