Am learning a lot
If you take the time to work towards good grades, your professors will too. They truly care about your success.
Am enjoying being here
I have never had this much fun before. I enjoy every day living on campus, being with friends and just overall having a good time. It is a stress-free environment, making it easy for me to have fun while still maintaining a 3.7 GPA.
Bang for the buck
As soon as you're accepted, AU gives you any scholarships you are eligible for, without having to do any extra work. By filling out an application, you are applying for enrollment as well as scholarships.
Tips for prospective students
I recommend visiting AU on more than one occasion so that you can see a little more variety in the school, and to go on a nice, sunny day, because if you go on a rainy day it will ruin the whole experience. Don't be afraid to ask questions; the faculty as well as the students are some of the nicest people I have ever met. The faculty is very understanding and willing to help, and the students are very accepting. I was surprised at how friendly the entire campus is.
Great for these types of students
Aurora University is great for students who are looking for a smaller school and more personalized learning. It is much easier to establish a teacher-student relationship and also to get to know your classmates. I would not recommend this school to students who just want to go to school to party, like at a state college, or to those who like busy city life.

Aurora University provides a unique experience. Students are not only taught book knowledge, but learn to think independently. The IDS courses really force you to explore your own beliefs, and it is refreshing to see students opening up about their opinions, even if they are different from other students in the class.

There is so much to get involved in on campus. This is a major draw for me, because as a commuter student who lives alone, if there were no activities on campus, I would be spending a lot of time sitting around at home. There are over 60 student organizations, that range from Games Club to Scrapbooking Club to Sororities to Psychology Club. I am an active member of the Activities Programming Board, which is in charge of contracting musicians, comedians, magicians, hypnotists, and other events to come to campus. I am also involved in Circle K, as well as LEAD a leadership training program on campus. The best part is, every activity is free for students. If you are bored on this campus it is because you are not attending events. We also have many sports including Baseball, Football, Tennis, Basketball, Softball, Volleyball, and new this year: Lacrosse.
Bang for the buck
I feel that I am getting a pretty strong education here. I am a social work student, and all the upper level major requirements are taught by full time faculty. You will never meet a Teacher's Assistant on this campus. Some of the general education classes however, are taught by adjunct professors who are not always the best prepared. Also I mentioned before that all student activities are free for students who only pay a $50 activity fee. The campus food is relatively expensive though, with meals costing $5 with a meal plan, and $6 without.
Tips for prospective students
Get involved on campus. There is an office of student activities in the Spartan Spot (student hangout with food made to order, a tv and a pool table) this is the place to go to to find out about any student organization, or even create your own! Getting involved helps you meet new people, and also is helpful for meeting non-teaching faculty that may help you in the future with recommendations. It is important to get involved early to build your resume, especially if you plan on getting an internship. I am actively involved in two student organizations, attend school as a full-time student, and work part-time on campus. It has really helped me.
Great for these types of students
AU is great for students that are intimidated by large state schools. Classes are small, with my largest one consisting of only 30 students. Also, this campus is great for students who like to make a difference in the community. There are so many activities and organizations that are active in helping members of the community. In addition there is a student government (AUSA) that helps make changes happen on campus itself. This school is great for people who want to leave a legacy.

Aside from a decent amount of work, it is hard to fall behind with teachers as caring as the ones here. Every time I step foot in a classroom I leave knowing more and understanding more than I came in knowing. The teaching is magnificent, and the things we learn in class are applicable to our careers and everyday life.
Am enjoying being here
Aurora University is a wonderful institution. Aside from caring teachers, the students are a great group as well. There is something for everyone. Aurora University is full of diversity and is trying in every way to make everyone feel as comfortable and at home as possible. I have met some of the best students here and made very good friends.
Bang for the buck
Although Aurora University could use more on campus activities, educationally Aurora University does the teaching job perfectly. With the student to teacher ratio being so small teachers actually build relationships with students and really care about their grades and success.
Tips for prospective students
Don't come to this school to play games. It is not tolerated, these teachers are on a mission and will do everything in their power to help you succeed!
Great for these types of students
This school is great for students who like small classrooms and one on one attention. It is great for students who want to build a relationship with the teacher and who may need help or the extra push.

This is a place that encourages whatever style of learning that you have. It also has many teachers who are willing to take the time with you one on one to help you grasp the subject better. As well as a tutoring center that make a schedule with you and make help available.
Am enjoying being here
The people here are friendly and willing to make friends. The campus is small enough to recognize many faces and has plenty of places to go study.
Bang for the buck
You definitely get your moneys worth and with it being a private school you definitely get plenty of assistance you need. You also get to go on trips like to six flags or musicals for free when you pay the activities fee at the beginning of the year. Unlimited trips for $50 a semester
Tips for prospective students
If you do come here take advantage of everything that is offered it will make your experience here worth it.
Great for these types of students
Great for people who like small settings, the campus is small the class sizes and it gives off a friendly feeling.

Tips for prospective students

Academic Rigor

The food was amazing and there are several things to choose from.

Will learn a lot
I plan to learn as much as i can from Aurora.
Will enjoy being here
Even though i have not been able to visit the campus, i know that i am going to love it there. It is not far from home, and it is close to Chicago.
Bang for the buck
Like all private colleges are, Aurora is pretty expensive. But with the scholarships that i have been awarded, and the financial aid i plan to receive, Aurora is turning out to be very affordable.
Tips for prospective students
I know it looks too expensive, but Scholarships Scholarships Scholarships!

Did learn a lot
In order to learn a lot, you have to put in a lot of work. For some classes it was easy because I had good teachers and the material was interesting. For other classes, you really have to work at it.
Did enjoy being here
The only reason I put 3 stars is because I'm one of those people who need to be constantly entertained or I lose interest. Most of the teachers are the best I have ever had, the other students are extremely nice and open, and the classes, for the most part, are interesting. I just did not find enough activities to keep me entertained.
Bang for the buck
It is a fantastic school for the money. You get a great education and make life long friends and every one knows about AU. My boss at work has a daughter who went there, my doctor and her entire family went there, even random people on the street or in stores that you talk to have either went there, or they know people who went there. It is a very well known school because of how much people loved it there.
Tips for prospective students
Try to get involved as much as you can and always talk to teachers if you need help. It is really hard to catch up on work once you fall behind. If you ever get confused, go to your teacher during their office hours and they will be more than willing to help.
Great for these types of students
Small campus lovers rejoice!! This campus is a big rectangle so it is impossible to get lost and it takes about 5 minutes to walk from one corner of the campus to the other which is great in winter. The Spartan Spot is the perfect place to hang with friends and there are always people playing games on the Quad.

Right now I am a Junior at AU majoring in Health Science. I am taking many science classes and am learning a lot! I love my classes and the professors are great. They motivate you to do your best, and are people you can trust. Do not be afraid to ask questions because they are more than happy to answer them for you :)
Am enjoying being here
Being able to attend AU is awesome. Right now I'm involved with the Latin American Student Organization. Being part of this organization has helped me make new friends and be involved on campus. The university is small and has a nice cozy environment. During the nice sunny days you'll enjoy walking to your classes and watching the nice scenery.
Bang for the buck
If you are in need of financial aid and have a good GPA, AU will give you financial aid to help you out with tuition. So far most of the classes that I've taken are science classes, and those are saturated with a lot of information. Professors won't give up until the students have learned the material. Professors have office hours where a student can go to their office and ask questions about the lectures and things they don't understand. The class sizes are small, which means professors have more time for you.
Tips for prospective students
For students interested in AU, I would recommend them to visit the university. They should ask questions about the university and helpful resources. If you are interested in a sport or club, you should definitely join one or more.
Great for these types of students
Great for people interested in a small private university. AU is located in a suburban are which is usually quiet and stress free. AU is also located close to Chicago, so if you would like to visit Chicago just take the Metra.

Your also being educated by some of the best professors in America. You're experience and education will be under pretty good hands.
Dorm Life
The dorm life will make you channel your energy. You will really obtain that energy of a college student. You get exposed and invited to all kinds of events happening on campus and it's a lot of fun for the college experience. It makes it easier to stay accessed to your academics rather than taking a road trip back to your normal residence. It ideally channels the student's energy overall to want to be involved and keep your academics in good shape.
Food and Dining
The food and dining is fantastic. There are multiple dining areas in each hall of dorms, each set up differently. There are different kinds of food coming to the area almost everyday and you'll have all kinds of choices. It's almost like you have access to the Wild Country Buffet when ever you want. Also if you keep your academics up, you can get different awards in the cafeterias there.
What to do for fun
There are all kinds events hovering within the campus. Some groups are created to travel around the world, there clubs that set theatrical events, dance shows, sports events, poetry events, and many many more. It's almost an endless supply of events going on on campus so there's lots to do for fun. It's almost like being downtown of New York or Chicago with all kinds of things going on.

Aurora University is known for having exquisite food options. lunch and dinner are, probably, the meal times when the cafeteria shows off their best work. all food is inspected and processed for freshness.
