Am learning a lot
Although it depends on the class and the professor, you will definitely walk away with more than one thing you never knew from each course. Each of the professors have their unique touch in the classroom, and it fascinates me to know how educated these individuals are and what THEY have learned in their lifetime. I not only learn strictly educational facets, but also how our spiritual life interacts with all the subjects.
Am enjoying being here
Asbury is all about being a community. From dorm life, to activities, to the classroom, a huge priority is to grow in a Christ-centered community. It is an amazing experience! I love how faculty, staff and students alike all share openly that anyone is welcome to come talk to them about life and/or personal issues. They don't even know you, but as you begin to build those relationships, they are incredible. Everyone is so caring. Of course, there are rules Asbury sticks to, but I believe the majority of them are beneficial and out of genuine care to help prevent students from going down a wrong path and making decisions they would later regret. And not to mention, the scenery and college are both beautiful!
Bang for the buck
Yes, the finances are expensive. But with all the added benefits from the wonderful relationships, educational options, and spiritual growth, you pay a price absolutely worth it.
Tips for prospective students
-Step out of your comfort zone and don't be afraid to meet new people and share your heart with them
-Participate in activities and leadership roles to better enhance relationships and self-confidence
-Apply for scholarships
-Have an open mind and be willing to obey God and His calling for your life, even if it doesn't go according to your plans!
Great for these types of students
Equine, Media Communications (and all Communication Arts), Missions, Education, Languages

Will learn a lot
From what I have seen on campus and in the classroom and what I have heard from current and graduated students this is a place to learn a lot! You not only learn about the academics but you learn how your faith works together with the subjects you take.
Will enjoy being here
I will most definitely enjoy attending Asbury. I already know some people there and I know i will know many more in the future! It is a very beautiful campus and nice town.
Bang for the buck
Although its a little pricy for me I know that it will be worth the money. Its hard not having enough to cover the costs this minute but either way it will definitely be worth the effort and money put into it.
Tips for prospective students
- Apply early
- Apply for scholarships
- As soon as you get there open up and meet new people
- Let others help you
- Grow as much as possible in your faith while your there
Great for these types of students
I believe this college is great for any type of student but especially ones who are looking for a way to build up their faith and are willing to learn how their faith goes with everything else they will learn!

I am learning so much here! Not only is Asbury a great school when it comes to academics, it is also great for building your life skills and strengthening your Christian faith.
Am enjoying being here
I love attending Asbury! The atmosphere is welcoming wherever you go on campus.
Bang for the buck
Asbury's financial aid office really tries to help and accommodate students in any way that they can.
Tips for prospective students
Be honest and have a good time. When you come here at the beginning of the school year go to all the events this way you can meet a lot of people and start building friendships fast.

Am learning a lot
Depending on the course and professor, but most of my classes are great! I love being at a smaller school where my professor gives out a cell phone number. I attended Purdue University during a program in high school where I placed in a lecture hall of 600 students. In order to even ask my teacher a question, the question had to be asked through four teacher aides! It was ridiculous! I enjoy being in a smaller class room where my professor actually knows my name.
Am enjoying being here
Most of the time I like being at Asbury. It is hard for me to be living somewhere other than Indiana for the first time in my life, alone. I try to stay actively involved with campus activities such as intramural sports like softball, ultimate frisbee, and basketball along with being a cheerleader and a mentor.
Bang for the buck
Even though Asbury is expensive, the school is definitely worth the extra money. Since we have smaller classes, the teachers really get to know you and they care a lot about you, the student. This was really shown to me when my grandma was diagnosed with brain cancer. Living four and half hours away and with gas prices on the rise, it was impossible for me to travel home as much as I wanted to. On top of everything occurring back home, I was in a class, working on a movie. My professor was willing to let me go home multiple times along with taking his final early just so I could go home to be with my grandma before she passed. As a result of my grandma being so close to me and her passing, my grades dramatically dropped. Little did I know, my professor had talked to the Dean of Media Communications about what had happened. Such a true blessing!
Tips for prospective students
There are several opportunities to join clubs and outreach programs on campus! It will help to be involved, but don't be overwhelmed! I would also make sure you know all the rules of attending Asbury. I can remember being a freshman and being overwhelmed along with frustrated with all the new rules I was not aware of.
Great for these types of students
Asbury is great for Media Communications majors, Equine, Education, and Worship Arts. Asbury has great opportunities set up in all of these programs. An example of these would the Media Communication program that gives students the chance to work the olympics and several professors have graduate students working with CNN, ABC, and other major networks.

Asbury is very intentional in that it seeks out the incoming students to ensure they are included in the community. I highly recommend this college because it has provided an extremely welcoming, growing, bonding, and friendly experience.
Tips for prospective students
For any students who are seriously considering Asbury, Welcome Week can be overwhelming, but it is so important to include yourself in a friend group because the people you meet in the first week end up becoming your best friends.
Academic Rigor
All of the professors that I have taken classes with have been extremely knowledgeable in their field and simply enjoyable as a person to have casual conversations with, even if the topic is unrelated to class.
Dorm Life
The hall I live on is one that everyone genuinely respects your privacy, but is also inclusive in celebratory hall events and is extremely generous to each resident of the hall. My RA is absolutely amazing and it is obvious she loves her job.
Food and Dining
The Asbury Cafeteria has many options at each meal, and they have a self-cook station that is really popular among the students.
What to do for fun
There is always something happening on campus. Whether it's a lacrosse game, soccer game, movie night, or simply an evening to the hang out in the student center, my friends and I always find entertainment.
Bang for the buck
Asbury is worth every penny. It is an extremely positive environment and it is without a doubt the best decision I have ever made.

TAG (transition and guidance) week for incoming freshman is a week that everyone talks about for their whole college career. It is a week of introduction and simply just a fun time for students adapting to a new stage of life. Also, a common Asbury favorite is TV Drop during Finals week. It is a night of stress relief and a satisfying feeling of watching old box TV's fall from a 3 story building.
Great for these types of students
It is a great place for students who enjoy quality friendships. It is a place where extroverts can thrive and introverts are appreciated.
Clubs and Activities
Various clubs are available at Asbury for people with many different talents and interests. There are clubs in the equine department, science, math, dance, and even self-defense.
Greek Life
There is very little Greek life here at Asbury, but we make it up in the amount of clubs that are present here. Asbury is not a sorority and fraternity type of school, but we are more than capable of building a strong community in other ways.
Campus Safety
I have never felt in danger on Asbury's campus. The parking lots and sidewalks are well lit and the campus security is extremely helpful and friendly.

Asbury is a great small Christian University with a great community. The tuition seems high, but they work well to give scholarships. Asbury has lots of fun extra-curricular activities and a great sports and music program.
Academic Rigor
Asbury has very good academics. The teachers are willing to help you if you ask them for help and there are also tutors available to help which is included in tuition.
Dorm Life
I love spending time with the girls in my hall! Especially in Glide-Crawford, the dorm life is great!
Food and Dining
The cafiteria is pretty much in the center of campus and the food is quite good. I like their salad bar and the make-your-own-stir-fry bar. On the weekends, however, the food is not quite as good. But you can always make yourself a wrap or have cereal!
What to do for fun
Go on a hike on the Asbury trails, play spikeball, volleyball, Frisbee, etc on the green. Attend a worship night. Go on a trail ride at the barn. Join an intramural team. Drive into Lexington to grab a bite to eat or go to the mall. Set up a hammock on the green. Go rope swinging or canoeing.
Bang for the buck
I find the tuition a little steep, but scholarships help.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
There's the campus cat who likes to wander around. Annual TV drop from the boy's dorm. The last survivor game that is basically schoolwide human vs zombies with nurf guns (if you want to participate).
Great for these types of students
Those who enjoy a tight community where you see many of your same friends in various classes. Those who want to develop a closer relationship with God. Equine, Media Communications, Christian Ministries, Outdoor Leadership.
Greek Life
No Greek life really.
Campus Safety
Wilmore is a very safe community.

Asbury is a beautiful school filled with tons of friendly people. Here you will find plenty of people who care about you and are willing to help you succeed in your college career and beyond. The professors are great, and for the most part, very willing to be your friends as well as teacher.
Tips for prospective students
Tip #1: Come to Asbury!
Tip #2: Meet as many other fellow Asburians as you can - make friends, and offer to help them out. Ask them for help if you need something. Be good friends with your RA.
Tip #3: Get Dr. Strait for your Literature and Culture class. He's the best!
Tip #4: Take advantage of all the wonderful things on campus, like the Luce Activities Center, the Center for Academic Excellence (tutoring and disability services center) and the Counseling Center.
Tip #5: Even if you are not an Equine Studies major, make friends with one, and have them take you out to the barn and enjoy a sunset there. It's beautiful.
Academic Rigor
The academic rigor here is average. It's a lot of work, but if you work hard and do all of you homework, you will have no problem.
Dorm Life
Dorm life here is the best! Each of the dorms has their own unique kind of personality. Glide-Crawford (girls dorm) is easier to find your way around in, Kresge (other girls dorm) is a little harder to learn to navigate, but once you get used to the general layout, it's no problem. Even though freshmen tend to want to be in GC more than they want to be in Kresge, girls from both dorms usually end up loving whichever dorm they live in. Johnson and Trustees (guys dorms) are also wonderful. All dorms have TVs and kitchens for common use, and are filled with wonderful people who love to live whole-heartedly and have a lot of fun.
Food and Dining
The food in the caf is nothing special, but personally I like it a lot. They offer a large variety and plenty of options: salad bar, pizza/pasta bar, sandwich bar, rotisserie and specialty/vegetarian bar, ceral/waffle bar, along with the main line. The best part is that they always have a supply of Blue Bell ice cream that is available at all times the caf is open, even at breakfast. The caf also has the grille upstairs, which is more like a restaurant which serves comfort food - burgers, pizza, fries, chicken tenders, onion rings, salad wraps, soups, and salads, and soft serve ice cream among other things. With the standard meal plans, each student receives 15 transfer meals/semester, so that they can swipe in at the grille instead of eating at the caf for a change. The grill is open for more hours than the caf, even late in the evening, so this makes it easier to grab a meal when schedules do not allow for a student to eat while the caf is open. The campus also has it's own coffee shop that sells all kinds of coffee, milkshakes, hot cocoa, bagels, and awesome gigantic muffins.
What to do for fun
The campus has so many fun activities and events it is virtually impossible to be bored here. They have worship gatherings from time to time such as WHAM (Worhsip Him At Midnight) and other things such as corn-hole competitions, concerts, movies, trail rides on Saturdays, sports games, talent-shows, the sophomore musical and High Bridge film festival in the spring semester, Last man standing (like Humans v. Zombies) and legacy games, where the four classes participate in a wide variety of activities to earn points for their class in a campus-wide competition. This goes on for a number of weeks, until the winner is announced at a grand finale dance party.
Bang for the buck
Although Asbury is hard to afford for many, it is definitely worth it it. Living on Asbury's campus is so fun and wonderful. Transfer in if you have to, but you should definitely come to Asbury. I understand that it's not for everyone, but I believe that most people would be very happy here, with how they learn to stretch themselves and grow in the Lord here.

High Bridge Film Festival. Asbury's most popular and largest major is Media Communications, so every spring the film students get to enter a short film that they make themselves into a competition. The films are reviews by professors and faculty in the Media comm department. Then in late April, the winning films are showed at a fancy event where everyone dresses up beautifully (like prom) and attends with their friends. Afterward, refreshments are served in Asbury's stunning Media comm building, the Miller Center for Communication Arts.
Great for these types of students
Hard working. lively. creative. inspired. lost. searching. international. fun-loving. intelligent. determined. willing.
Clubs and Activities
Too many to count! There is something for everyone, from Hunt Seat and Western clubs in the Equine department, to Chorale, to the Tumbling team, a performing gymnastics team.
Greek Life
I think that the most Greek life you'll find at Asbury is in one of the Greek classes, such as those taught by Dr. Kevin Anderson. ;)
Campus Safety
Asbury's campus is located in a pretty little town called Wilmore, about half an hour away from Lexington. This little town is a safe and quiet community. While it is always a good idea to walk with friends at night, I feel perfectly safe walking by myself to the nearby dollar general or Subway during the day, and going anywhere anytime if I have another friend with me.
