the teachers really help you out if you need any extra help and love their job.
Am enjoying being here
every person on campus is super friendly and helpful. there are tons of things to do so you are never bored.
Bang for the buck
ASU's tuition is actually pretty cheap and all sorts of things are added in the tuition so you do everything for free. you get the fitness center, food, admission to games, events, yearbooks, parking passes. and everything else you could imagine.

I am a Music Education Major at ASU-Jonesboro. I've been studying music for years, being in band in High School and Jr. High, as well as playing various instruments since elementary, but I am amazed by how much I learn every day from my music classes. Top notch teachers at ASU
Am enjoying being here
College life is great here. Fraternities/Sororities, Student clubs and groups, great athletic opprotunities, there really is something for everyone!
Bang for the buck
The tuition is really cheap here at ASU compared to the two other major colleges in Arkansas (University of Arkansas and University of Central Arkansas), and the 'bang' you get for your buck greatly exceeds your buck! What you pay is small compared to what you get out of it.

This college has amazing teachers that really care about me knowing the material. I have found ASU in Jonesboro to be a great atmosphere to learn in.
Am enjoying being here
I really enjoy all of the activities that are on campus and the many different things to do here on campus. They always have something going on or some event to attend.
Bang for the buck
ASU is pretty fairly priced. They accept many scholarships and really work with you on financial aid. They seem to really care about helping me get through college with as lest debt as possible.
Tips for prospective students
If you are thinking of attending ASU you really need to do a campus visit before. This helped me to feel more prepared for school here and it allowed me to be able to find things easier when I got here.
Great for these types of students
ASU is a great atmosphere for any student and has many majors for you to pick from.

every professor is interested in teaching you something. Everyone I've had has taught me something. In your major the advisers and other professors in the department always like to help you get farther and learn more to ready you for your career.
Am enjoying being here
I haven't regretted choosing ASU. The friends I have made and the classes I've taken have been worth it. No matter how frustrated I might get at them, they surprise me with something I didn't know and teach me something.
Bang for the buck
College is expensive. That's a fact. ASU is cheaper than some of the other colleges in the state. They offer many scholarships in any major. You just have to get out there and find them.
Tips for prospective students
Don't slouchy! College is not always a walk in the park. Some classes take more time than others but that doesn't mean should devote less time to any. Also get to know your adviser. They are there to help you and want to. They make things easier with registering and working on your major.
Great for these types of students
Sports fans- Plenty of sports to watch and inter murals to play
Thinkers- The faculty are brilliant people and like to challenge their student
Artist- I can tell you this, ASU does not try to stifling your creativity, they encourage you
Anyone really- There's something at ASU for everyone, just look around and you'll find some thing on campus for you.

It is very honorable to be a student in the ASU. I am learning a lot about the American culture and the history of the United States. Moreover, being exposed to a new and different culture and lifestyle can broaden some one's horizons, intellect and linguistic skills.
Am enjoying being here
I enjoy being in the natural state. There is a lot to do in Arkansas. I go to the gym, I hang out with my friends, I travel around the state and the country, I enjoy the natural view in the lake etc...
Bang for the buck
Arkansas State University challenges the students academically but not financially since tuition are not as high comparing to other universities in the US. Several jobs are also available to students in order to support them in paying their bills and tuition. The ASU also provides its students with prestigious and valuable diplomas which allow them to compete in the job market.
Tips for prospective students
To make your life easier in Jonesboro, buy a car. Students also need to socialize and make new friends to avoid loneliness, especially if they have no family in Jonesboro.
Great for these types of students
The ASU is the right place for serious and devoted students who really seek nothing but success.

The dorms here are set up in a suite-style, so not having to share a bathroom with many people is great! The caf offers plenty of options, ranging from pizza to stir fry to delicious sandwiches. Sports here are amazing, especially rugby (which just got a women's club).
Tips for prospective students
Getting involved is really important, because Jonesboro doesn't have much to do. Greek life, sports, and clubs are great ways to meet friends that can help you study or go party with! Also, stay away from the pizza. It looks inviting, but it usually isn't.
Academic Rigor
A few of my classes were pretty hard, but a lot of them were easy. Studying is still important, though.
Dorm Life
Arkansas Hall is FILTHY, sorry men, but it is. The elevators always smell like pot or feet. No in-between. University Hall is pretty clean, ladies. Kays Hall, where I stayed, is co-ed and it is awesome! I loved that most of my friends were there, and because it houses more freshmen, I made more friends!
Food and Dining
There is a caf, as we call it, that has a grill, deli, international line, pasta line, and a main line. There's a salad bar, ice cream machine, and desert bar, too. Everything is usually good, but I am so serious when I say DO NOT EAT THE PIZZA. We also have a food court. If you're ever there, go to Godfather's Pizza and buy some hot chicken wings. They are to die for!
What to do for fun
For fun, I'll admit it, I party. From Thirsty Thursday to early Sunday morning, I am out and about, dancing and mingling. I also go to rugby games, on Saturday. There's usually not a massive crowd, which is kind of disappointing because our rugby team is PHENOMENAL and not just because they have great hair.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
In the Reng Student Union, there is a statue of Mohegan, a wolf. For good luck, my friends and I smack it's butt. I don't know if anyone else does it, but we sure do.
Campus Safety
ASUPD is on-point. There was this guy, who went by Sebastion, that didn't even go to school at ASU and he was living in the residence halls! UPD snatched him up pretty quick. I feel pretty safe at ASU.

A-state is a school that is definitely preparing its students for the real world in a positive way. It has a lot of different healthy food options, a campus store, and is very sports-oriented. The professors are extremely helpful and constantly encourage their students to excel in all ways possible.
Tips for prospective students
A-state is not a huge party school because the main focus is education. Therefore, distractions are limited in that aspect and all parties are monitored by police to ensure the safety of the students. There are a lot of organizations for students to get involved in. They have really helped me come out of my shell and I'm grateful for the various opportunities. Everyone on campus is friendly. It's like we are all one big family. It doesn't matter where you are on campus, when you pass someone they greet you and smile whether it be a student or a faculty member. That is my favorite thing about my school.
Academic Rigor
Being a Biology Pre-Med major, my rating for rigor may be a little different than someone who's major is not geared toward professional school. My classes are very difficult. However, almost all of my professors have been very helpful and strive to make the classes interesting and exciting. They are always open to students coming to their office hours for one on one help, and I can definitely say that utilizing that is what has helped me get through my classes successfully.
Dorm Life
My Freshman year, I lived in the oldest building on campus, Kay's Hall. Kay's is a co-ed dorm with 11 stories. Although I did not like the style of my room or the bed (it was low and bolted to the floor), I had everything I needed: a large room, hot water, and a very large shower. This year, I live in the Honors dorms. I love my room. It is a single room connected to a double room by a large bathroom, contains two windows, and I have a full sized bed. It is one of the newest buildings on campus. I absolutely love it.
Food and Dining
I personally feel like the food could be way better. The food in the cafeteria has improved from last year, but I think they should make food that is more commonly heard of. Sometimes the healthy options are foods/preparations that I have never seen or heard of. We also have a food court, however I don't like eating in those places either because of all the grease they use in the food. This may just be me considering the fact that 99% of people that I talk to love eating in the food court. But I do love the snack store located in the library. There are tons of healthy options and I find myself stopping there quite often when I'm in a rush to get to class in the mornings and don't have time to stop by the cafeteria. One great thing about food and dining on campus is that each resident living on campus is required to purchase a meal plan, which virtually makes everything on campus free with just a swipe or tap of your student ID,
What to do for fun
A-state has countless organizations and events. There is an organization to fit any profession in pursuit, personality, or culture. We make sure you are able to get to connect with people that you share things in common with. The organizations (especially the Greek organizations) have events going on every single week, so if you get bored, just lead your Daily Digest email to see what's going on that day! There is also a gym that is open from early in the morning until late at night. And it's free, because the cost is included in the fees we must lay with tuition. There are a lot of different weight machines, as well as three basketball/volleyball courts, an indoor track, and classes such as yoga, Pilates, and Zumba that take place each week.
Bang for the buck
Going to A-state was one of the best decisions I have ever made. For a reasonable tuition cost, you receive exceptional academic instruction, a close-knit friendly community, and a platform for your career that no other institution in Arkansas will be able to give you.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
There is an arch that once marked the entrance to the college and is now the oldest structure on campus. It was donated by the Training School Class of 1927. It is said that if you walk under the Arch, you will never graduate!
Great for these types of students
A-state is great for every type of student. It is a culturally diverse school and lets no one feel out of place. There are classes for students who learn at a slower pace, as well as Honors classes for students who pick up material a little bit faster.
Clubs and Activities
Like I mentioned earlier, there are tons of organizations and things to do on campus. There is an organization to fit any profession in pursuit, personality, or culture. We make sure you are able to get to connect with people that you share things in common with. The organizations (especially the Greek organizations) have events going on every single week. And the gym is almost always open, so you can go in and play almost any sport you want or participate in fitness classes.
Greek Life
I am not a part of any Greek organization, but I can say that they are very active on campus. Most events on campus are hosted by Greek organizations. They definitely bring life to our student union!
Campus Safety
Campus safety is another thing I love about my school. The campus police are always accessible. Their number is posted a lot around campus, and if you give them a call (like I have), they will run to your side immediately. The campus is very well lit, and there are emergency stations set up over the entire campus in case of emergency. Also, the campus police patrol the campus during the whole night which I love because I like knowing that they aren't far away.

A-State has the best concert bands, pep bands, and chamber bands I have ever heard, and not only do they sound good they also have the best directors, Dr. Labovitz and Dr. Oliver. Besides their bands they also have a pretty great campus.
Food and Dining
The food is delicious I just love it, and if I did get tired of caf food then they have more to offer like Chik-Fil-A and Starbucks.

The atmosphere promotes learning. Theres many places to study and you can learn by visiting the museum and library as well. The classrooms have smart boards and computers if needed.

I do not live in the dorms. However the provide family dorms as well as single room and roommate dorms.

Arkansas State University is a well rounded college for those who seek a start in their career. It can be the beginning of a long and wonderful education, and it can serve as the end of ones educational goals all at the same time. Whether you're looking to start your road on earning a masters degree, or just looking to get your bachelors, ASU is the school of choice.
Tips for prospective students
The best advice I can give is to always try your hardest. Do not let your friends tell you that you are wasting your time by going that extra mile. In college and in life that extra mile will go a long way. Do your best on every assignment, apply for all the financial aid you can, and practice whatever it is you are studying outside of class in your spare time. If you can do this, then I believe you have what it takes to succeed.
Academic Rigor
The classes are only as difficult as you make them. Some professors are more demanding then others, but in the long run it all boils down to how much work you are willing to put into it.
Dorm Life
Dorm life is alright, aside from the freshmen housing. You are typically paired with a complete stranger if you are going in alone, and most of the time they are disagreeable. Not to mention the freshmen dorms are squalid at best. But if you can make it through that, the upperclassmen housing it is well worth going through the struggle.
Food and Dining
The cafeteria offers a wide selection of food. It is very good and you can eat all you want for the entire semester. Aside from the cafeteria, there are several on campus restaurants that students may choose from if fast food is more your speed. All in all, an A plus!
What to do for fun
There are various groups one may join and several fraternities if that is what you're in to. There is also an on campus gym, and there is almost always some type of event going on that one can attend. The trick is to just look at the various fliers and make an attempt to go.
Bang for the buck
With the cheaper tuition, you certainly get a lot for what you pay for.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
I could do that, but the fun part is finding them out for yourself.
Great for these types of students
It's literally a melting pot. It is great for all students so long as you get out and look for whatever it is you seek.
Clubs and Activities
As I have stated, there are various clubs and activities that are held from time to time. You just have to keep your eyes open to find them.
Greek Life
I'm not much of a frat person, but from what I can tell their are various fraternities and everyone seems to enjoy being in them.
Campus Safety
There have been various instances that have happened around the campus, but with each one a new attempt is made to ensure that it does not repeat itself. All in all, security and safety is good, but not 100% guaranteed.
