Am learning a lot | They definitely challenge you & push you outside of your comfort zone! It may seem awkward at first, but I just finished my 1st semester here & I look back and realize how much I've grown already. |
Am enjoying being here | Everyone is very friendly, and with it being an all women's college, everyone is very supportive! |
Bang for the buck | It is more expensive since it's a private school, but I think in the long run it'll be worth it! |
Great for these types of students | Students that like smaller, more hands-on classes. Those who would not like to be in a 300-student lecture hall, but rather a 20-student classroom. |

Am learning a lot | I enjoy the small classrooms and the discussions we can have in them. Once you get to know everyone, talking in front of class and making speeches is easy to overcome. In my opinion now when I'm out in the real world talking I have a higher confidence. Another great aspect of Alverno is they allow to give yourself self assessments to compare them with your teacher. You learn what you can improve on and they are right by your side to help you! |
Am enjoying being here | Alverno is in a great area and close to downtown Milwaukee. Considering that Alverno is an all women's school, I feel like you are able to focus on school and succeeding rather then boys and having to dress to impress. Everyone is very nice and helpful. Also, teachers remember your name and the staff is very friendly. I am enrolled in the nursing program and love it. They offer a four-year degree so I can go further with my career. |
Bang for the buck | Being a private school, Alverno is a bit on pricier side of the spectrum. You are guaranteed to be pushed to succeed and in the long run you fill find out strengths and weaknesses! |
Tips for prospective students | I recommend for undecided education and nursing majors. I was a transfer student who was between nursing and education for my major and found out that it was easy to change to the other because I knew that Alverno had two great programs! |
Great for these types of students | Alverno is great for students (girls) who are looking for an all girls school and enjoy small class rooms and hands on classes. Dorming is available to students who live far from Alverno. |

Tips for prospective students | Tip #1. Be prepared to be tested beyond the typical A-U grading scale. The curriculum is based on abilities not letter grading. Tip #2. Get your priorities in order prior to starting. What'Â?s important to you, money or education? Will a potential job interfere with you education? Are you willing to reduce hours at work to focus more time on school? Tip #3. Be ok with working with others! Group work is a thingÂ? at Alverno, anticipate at least one group based project per class. Tip #4. Know your financial need! You may fall short for with government provided aid, so have a backup plan such as scholarships, savings or family help. Having a balance will prevent you from registering for the following semester, extending graduation date. |
Academic Rigor | Sometimes the rigor can be too rigorous, it,s well worth it. You'Â?re paying lots of money so you might as well be challenged. |
Dorm Life | I have always lived off campus. There are maybe 4 dorm halls, I hear that they are pretty decent. You can access mostly everything indoors. Living on campus may be best if you have to means to do so. Giving dorm life a 2* because I have no knowledge. |
Food and Dining | Our food and dinning has just been updated. You can get almost anything from food on the grill to the fresh salad bar! Tons of vending throughout the campus and restaurants in close proximity 5 minutes via car. |
Campus Safety | Campus safety is always around and easily accessible. Since Alverno is an all-women'Â?s college Â?security is strictly enforced |
