Students studying

Visual and Performing Arts, General

Visual and performing arts majors can make a career out of being creative. They study theater, music, design, studio art, choreography, and more to gain exposure to multiple fields. Some schools permit those majoring in visual and performing arts to specialize in one area to really build knowledge and become experts. Coursework may include subjects like set design, dance, theater history, scriptwriting, light design, and acting. While not all career paths require an advanced degree, it can certainly be helpful in getting your foot in the door and making connections. Some visual and performing arts graduates work as set designers, musicians, choreographers, or dancers.
