A Legal Assistant/Paralegal major allows you to immerse yourself in the law field, without the additional schooling to become a lawyer. This program will train you to assist a lawyer on his or her casework. Becoming a Legal Assistant/Paralegal will get you right in the action. You will be prepared for tasks such as performing legal research, preparing trial notes, writing legal briefs, and conducting interviews. Your day-to-day work may change from case to case. A Legal Assistant/Paralegal has the option to choose a specialization, and go on to work with a lawyer in that specific field. You'd even have the chance to freelance and contract out your services to various lawyers in need of assistance. Once you gain enough experience, you can even oversee team projects and even delegate work to other paralegals. You will be entering an exciting and growing field, because according to the Bureau of Labor statistics, the employment of legal assistants and paralegals is expected to grow at a fine rate of 17% between 2012 and 2022.
