Established in the wake of the Watts Riots to provide educational opportunities for an underserved community, Los Angeles Southwest College is a 2-year community college offering degrees in 10 academic departments. Over 50 percent of LASC students are the first people in their families to attend college and LASC’s Student Equity Overview addresses the unique challenges that they face. LASC also offers support services for all heads of household among its student body through its Working Student Success Network.
