Tuition, Cost & Aid

Affordability and Cost

Average Net Price Average net price for full-time, first-time degree/certificate-seeking undergraduates paying the in-state or in-district tuition rate who were awarded grant or scholarship aid from federal, state or local governments, or the institution. Other sources of grant aid are excluded. Aid awarded anytime during the full aid year is included.

Average net price is generated by subtracting the average amount of federal, state or local government, or institutional grant and scholarship aid from the total cost of attendance. Total cost of attendance is the sum of published tuition and required fees (lower of in-district or in-state), books and supplies and the weighted average room and board and other expenses.

Additional Costs
Room and Board The weighted average for room and board and other expenses is generated as follows:
  • (amount for on-campus room, board and other expenses * # of students living on-campus.
  • + amount for off-campus (with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus with family
  • + amount for off-campus (not with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus not with family)
divided by the total # of students. Students whose living arrangements are unknown are excluded from the calculation. For some institutions the # of students by living arrangement will be known, but dollar amounts will not be known. In this case the # of students with no corresponding dollar amount will be excluded from the denominator.

What Students Are Saying

This school is expensive, but don't let it scare you. You get an extremely high quality education and you will be well prepared for life after graduation. It really is an investment in your future.
Jessica from Columbus, OH
Don't let that $40,000 a year price tag scare you. UD does everything they can to make school affordable. They help you find as much financial aid as possible and they usually give you a pretty good bundle of money.
Marci from Kettering, OH
It's definitely an expensive school, but if you were a good student in high school, they are really liberal with financial aid. I personally got a really helpful scholarship and grant from the university itself. Plus, they lock you in for tuition all four years, which means that even if the university raises tuition costs for the incoming class, your tuition price will not change all four years. This is really nice because you can figure out exactly what you'll be paying all four years. If you go on an official visit on campus, they also give you a $500 book scholarship per semester just like that which is so helpful.
The quality of your degree and education is top notch, and they do a lot in the career center to encourage you to prepare for life past college even starting your freshman year.
Taylor from Naperville, IL
I know a lot of you may be looking at the cost of attending the University of Dayton and feeling as if you may not be able to afford it or that it really might not be worth your money. But at UD they offer a tiered scholarship system that allows anyone that attends the University of Dayton to receive at least some scholarship money. And after receiving your scholarship most people don't end up paying near as much as the sticker price of tuition. Even though you might end up spending a little bit more than if you were to attend a Community College or a State College I feel that, from experience, UD has a lot more bang for your buck. I've attended both a state and a community college and I want to let you know that UD has a lot more to offer in the way of activities, organizations, and a much greater sense of community than any other college that I have ever attended.
Sarah from Anna, OH
It is a wonderful university and it shows with how successful all of the graduated students are.
Kelsey from Vernon Hills, IL
It's definitely pricey, however they give out a lot of scholarship money and it is definitely worth it for the community and the education.
Dylan from Indiana
i won't lie, ud is expensive. it's a private school and has many benefits that you're paying for. but in four years when i have to start paying off my students loans i'll look back and know that it was worth every penny!
Morgan from Cincinnati, OH
At $40,000 a year, the university is anything but cheap. On the other hand, what you get out of it will reflect what you put in. Opportunities are presented to you everywhere you go. For the money you're paying you will be given plenty of chances to excel and separate yourself from students at other institutions.
Christian from Homewood, AL
UD is a private school, so you have to be ready to dish out some money to go here. However, you will receive a quality education and will make memories that will last you a lifetime.
Heidi from Botkins, OH
