Am learning a lot
After one semester in my classes at Saint Louis University, I can practically run circles around my old high school friends academically. The classes here are very challenging but great for anyone who truly desires a quality education. It takes dedication and a desire to succeed here at Saint Louis University. When I graduated from high school, I was searching for a challenge because I never really was. Saint Louis University met that challenge head on and I learned more in this first semester than I ever did in high school and lots more than all of my old friends from high school! I was completely thrown off when I attended classes for the first week because they were fast-paced, information filled, and a little overwhelming. I soon learned how to become more organized, manage my time better, and truly learn. These things were not optional, but had to be done so that I could succeed there. For all high school students seeking a great Undergraduate college for Pre-Medicine, Pre-Law, Aerospace engineering, Physical Therapy, or Nursing, this college is top-notch and one of the best in the country for academics. The amount you will learn in one semester here at Saint Louis University will completely blow your mind, and you'll learn more than you could have ever imagined possible.
Am enjoying being here
Saint Louis University it is my favorite place to be in the world! All the people I have met here are caring and wonderful people. I can't imagine attending any other college because I believe that not only the academics wouldn't compare, but the environment in which you are in on and off campus is second to none. My new friends I've made I know will be life long friends that I will stay in touch with no matter where life takes me. We all have helped each other out and continue to do so, not because we have to, but because our floor has become a community. We look out for each other where ever we go and because of this, Saint Louis University is so enjoyable. I've heard similar stories from all of my other friends in different residence halls so it is not a isolated case. I believe it is because of SLU's learning communities. Learning Communities are people who live on the same floor who have similar majors and goals in life. This means that most of the people in learning communities are taking the same classes and experiencing the same hardships which makes it very easy to understand what people are going through and to help each other out. Everyone on campus is really friendly, including the professors! I stopped by my chemistry teacher's office one day because a problem on my test was not graded correctlyand we ended up talking for over and hour about family, gravity, and zero degrees Kelvin! I know it sounds nerdy but it was one of the most interesting conversations I've had. The thing that got me though was he has a lecture hall full of students and he still has time to talk to me for an hour and the only reason the conversation ended was because I had to head to work!
The off campus experience is just as amazing. There are plenty of things to do in the city of Saint Louis and SLU students get discounts on many of the nearby performing arts centers such as Powell Symphony Hall and the Fabulous Fox Theatre. At Powell Hall SLU students can get ...
Bang for the buck
Though Saint Louis University is an amazing college, it is very expensive. I'm hoping that I can go back myself next semester because I'm not sure if I'll be able to pay. There is a bright side to this though, Saint Louis University hands out plenty of scholarships and helps you find grant money, especially if you are in need. I have over $12,000 of pure scholarship money that SLU awarded me. This is money I don't have to pay back and is renewed every single year for up to four years. I don't know about you but $12,000 is a lot of money to me and there are plenty of other scholarships out there that SLU awards, you just have to get on the site and search for them. Also, if something happens in your family, SLU understands and helps you pay for college if you go to them and talk to your financial aid counselor. They will do everything in their power to help you make it to SLU if you can't do it on your own. One more thing to mention is that it is well worth it. As I stated earlier, I can't imagine going anywhere else or being at any other college. Not only am I challenged academically and learn a ton, the people here are wonderful. Saint Louis University is definitely a college to consider because you get more than your money's worth back in the form of quality education, strengthening of faith, and personal growth.
Tips for prospective students
Apply as early as possible and definitely apply for the presidential scholarship at www.slu.edu. Click on the scholarship link and I think you can find it.
Go visit the college. Never decide on any college before you visit it. I completely love it and I believe you will too, but I could be wrong, it might not be the right fit for you.
I didn't have anyone from my high school come to SLU and I have made great new friends so don't feel as though the college is too big for you.
Talk to your financial aid counselor. This is true for where ever you go. You always want to get the exact numbers on how much it will cost and how much aid you will get.
Great for these types of students
Pre-Medicine
Physical Therapy
Nursing
Pretty much anything in the Medical Field
Pre-Law
Aerospace Engineering
Social Work

Students who want to be challenged and desire preparation for their career choice. SLU will definitely prepare you for whatever you want to do in life with great education and internship opportunities later on in your college career.

The programs here at Saint Louis University are world-class. The degree that you will have with the University's symbol will definitely be positive in getting a job in your chosen field in this competitive economy. A set of core requirements break each student from his or her intended major by requiring theology, philosophy and ethics classes to develop holistic people instead of just specialists with little diversity. The lower level classes can be difficult because the professors don't always have an idea of standard levels for classes. This means that a 100 or 200 level professor may expect higher level work and 300 and 400 level professors may require far less than similar levels of classes. At times this can be difficult, but once you get into the upper levels of your intended major, the teachers really get to know each student and work with all classes individually to make sure that they don't simply focus on quantity, but rather acknowledge the factor of quality in education.
Am enjoying being here
The community at Saint Louis University is incredibly diverse with space for students from every background with just about every major and interest. If you make a conscious effort to make friends, you will be overwhelmed with the number of people you find who have similar interests. The campus is wonderful; it is an urban campus that feels like a suburban campus with the safety and beauty of the campus. There are almost 100 full time professional security personnel making the campus virtually without incidence of crime from urban sources. The campus plants over 27,000 flowers and prides itself on the amount of green space provided to students for enjoyment and beauty. There are also over 125 clubs and organizations that are open to all students, meaning that it is very difficult to not fit in on campus and become involved in a positive manner.
Bang for the buck
The cost of the university may seem staggering when first looking at it, but breaking the cost down makes it more manageable. The cost without assistance is approximately $40,000 with tuition, meals, housing and all fees. However, 97% of students receive financial aid. Merit awards alone range from $4,000 to full tuition. Need-based awards can significantly reduce costs further. The bill may still be large, but in the long run, a Saint Louis University education will make students stand out in the workplace and earn more money than students from other universities and students without formal education.
Tips for prospective students
There are thousands of universities in the United States and worldwide; don't be bound to colleges and universities that your parents want you to go to. Make sure that the school that you choose is right for you. Before you decide to visit 50 schools before senior year, take time to carefully look at each and rate your preferences or desires you hope to find in a school. This will help eliminate some stress of applying as you have narrowed your choices from 50 to 5 or 10. Talk with students on every campus you decide to apply to. I didn't do this, but I know now talking with prospective students that it can be incredibly valuable since they don't have a vested monetary interest when talking with you like an admissions office will. While it is by no means necessary, narrowing down a few possible areas of study will drastically reduce the amount of stress with both applying to and ultimately choosing a school.
Great for these types of students
Students seeking a diverse community of learning that focuses in developing educated, well-rounded individuals and not just field specialists with no ability to interact with others. This can also include students looking for a school with the ability to take an active part in religious, social and justice issues.

I was nervous going into classes at SLU because in high school classes were too easy. After being challenged and being put to the test of studying and putting effort into classes, I realized that I was actually learning information, especially in Allied Health biology, chemistry, and in Spanish. Initially I thought I would learn the information well enough to take the tests and then it would just leave my mind. However, I have been able to share with my family interesting aspects of the classes and hold decent conversations with them. SLU's classes are definitely worth your while, and although they may be challenging, they truly test your smarts and dedication.
Am enjoying being here
Not only are classes extremely interesting and the professors have been helpful, but the students are all very welcoming and friendly. It is so easy to make friends, both freshman and upperclassmen. The location of the campus is also perfect. The view from my room is the arch in St. Louis. It's a beautiful sight. The University puts a lot of effort into keeping the campus clean and beautiful with the landscaping so it is very visually appealing. We are also close enough to so many different shopping centers and activities that it is hard to get bored.
Bang for the buck
Yes, St. Louis University is very expensive, but it is worth the money. Not only is the University very generous with scholarships, but the classes are worth your while and once you graduate from SLU, you will turn heads because it is a very prestigious University.
Tips for prospective students
If you are thinking about coming to SLU just realize that this school is not all party. It takes a lot of work and dedication and you will get out of it what you put into it. It will be very worth your while to go here!
Great for these types of students
This school is great for students who are very serious about getting a good education, putting time into their majors, and meeting very sweet people.

Saint Louis University is a great school with a beautiful green campus. This school offers a variety of classes and community service opportunities to get involved in. It also has small class sizes and a great school philosophy of caring and compassion.
Tips for prospective students
My tips for prospective students includes going on the campus tour. It is here where you see first hand all the amenities with an actual student as your tour guide. Also, attending the SLU orientation is very helpful because you attend all types of seminars and meet with advisors to help you pick classes.
Academic Rigor
This will be my first year attending Saint Louis University, so I am not sure on the academic rigor just yet.
Dorm Life
I wish that I could be apart of the dorm life, but I am a commuter.
Food and Dining
Awesome! SLU has anything from vegan dining, to smoothies and sandwhiches, to well known fast-food chains. They even have a famers market come so that the students can purchase locally grown fruits and veggies.
What to do for fun
SLU is close to almost everything in the downtown area, and is located in walking distance to the metro-link. They have many activities on campus. The students say you are in walking distance to anything that you want to do.
Clubs and Activities
It is really awesome that any student has the ability to start any club or organization.

SLU is accepting and inviting to those who show interest. It has a great atmoshere and I am so excited to be able to experience the student life here.
Tips for prospective students
Go see the campus. Also deposit your enrollment fee at least kind of early if you want to go to one of the early SLU 101s.
Academic Rigor
They apparently have a lot of concentration on personal-work. So, go to office hours and be dedicated.
Dorm Life
Large amounts of people on a big floor living in a moderately small room. It's actually pretty cozy if you decorate it right. G hall.
Food and Dining
Flex dollars are like dollars you can use at any participating restaurant instead of going to the dining hall. Such as like Subway or something.
What to do for fun
Go see one of their basketball games or any sport for that matter! You can also go see one of STL's games, doesn't have to be SLU.
Bang for the buck
They give out some really great scholarships and a lot of money through the FAFSA.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
Each year on the welcome day the new first year class gets a t-shirt especially designed for their class. Unique each year and no one besides your fellow classmates will have that shirt.
Great for these types of students
Determined Students.
Clubs and Activities
Lots
Greek Life
There are no greek buildings on campus due to STL building codes. There's just not enough room for them. But they still exist, and seem to be a lot of fun.
Campus Safety
Even though there have been some problems in Ferguson (about 20 mins away), it's still very safe.

The professors here at SLU want you to succeed. They are willing to give you the extra time if you are not understanding the criteria.

SLU has a lot of activities for students. The student center is the main part of the campus and you will find that we have a lot of opportunities at the student center. The campus is also very diverse which encourages you to meet new people and learn about different cultures.
Bang for the buck
SLU is worth the price you pay. You not only get a great education but you have the staff that is there to help you. It doesn't matter if you go to financial aid, registration or to a professor. It is worth it!
Tips for prospective students
Be prepared to study! This is nothing like high school. The professors expect you to learn the information and to discuss it in class, so be prepared.
Great for these types of students
All freshman should attend freshman week. It is an eventful week, you meet possible classmates, you get to have fun and you get see what being a Billiken is all about.

The academics at SLU are beyond excellent. I was always a person who didn't have to try in school, and that changed tremendously here. Although it's a lot of work, I am learning more than I ever thought I would. My mind has been blown by this school.
Am enjoying being here
When I first started school in August, I thought SLU would be boring...all about the academics. Although almost everyone is very academically focused, this school is so much fun too! I'm a commuter student as well which can be tough, but they really make an effort to reach out and get everyone involved. From soccer games to community breakfasts and Greek rush week, everything is soooo enjoyable!
Bang for the buck
SLU is mad expensive but the academics and student life are well worth the price. The name of this school on your degree will earn you more money after graduation.
Tips for prospective students
Apply for every scholarships and grant you can find!
Great for these types of students
Academically motivated, like urban cities

Saint Louis University had the best businesses professors, at least for that is what many business students would think. Other students in different majors, probably wouldn't be too interest in business classes. However, they wouldn't deny that the professors are very knowledgeable and make sure the students learned the most out of their classes. Also, they make the tests hard and the questions involving make applications. That made you think a lot and if you passed, it had proven that you master the materials. Even, that some classes that I took are not business courses; but in the end that professors made it interesting and helped me learned quite a lot out of that class. Take theology as an example: I came to SLU with a Buddhist religion and honestly had no interest in learning about Christian religion and all of the other information about it. However, the professor changed my mind. He made the class interesting and fun. Therefore, I was engaged into the class lecture a lot more than I thought I would. In the end, I ended up learning many interesting things about theology and more knowledgeable about the Christian religion than I was before.

I really enjoyed the Saint Louis University campus. It's beautiful decorated with many flowers in the opening areas. The buildings and classrooms are great, especially the John Cook Business School. Also, I get a chance to live on campus and it's such a good experience. The dorm rooms are great and the cafeteria foods aren't bad as the homemade foods. Also, Saint Louis University has so many programs and clubs for students to join
Bang for the buck
Saint Louis University is really expensive, but I think the education here is worthwhile investing in.
Tips for prospective students
1) Keep up your high school cumulative GPA because it really does matters when it come for school and scholarship selections.
2) Be involved and stay involved, the more involve in show how outstanding and outgoing you are. That is one of the most important thing colleges look for.
3) Do apply as many colleges and universities as you wish, so that will give you a variety of choices to pick.
4) Apply for a lot of scholarships, take advantages of scholarships offer for high school students because once you're a college student. There are not many scholarships offering for you.

The campus is truly beautiful as well as the chapel. Some people worry about the fact that the University is in Saint Louis, but SLU has impressive security. A great place to stay close to your faith and grow.
Tips for prospective students
Visit the campus. Only then will you really be able to see if you can picture yourself here. If you go on a tour, do it during the school year that way you have a better feeling of what the school is like. The summer tours are still pretty good but it's better to see what the University is with all its students.
Academic Rigor
Especially good school for students going into pre-med or for students wanting to be nurses. If you want to be in the pre-med program, pay close attention to the deadline. It's in December and easy to overlook if you don't keep an eye out for it.
Dorm Life
I have only visited the school, and I have applied for housing. Some of the dorms are really nice since one of the buildings used to be a hotel. The dorms here are bigger than most although it is off campus. Not to far, but still something to consider.
Food and Dining
I like that SLU offers FLEX dollars along with meals. You have the option of how many meals you want with varying amounts of flex dollars per week 8 with $480, 10 with $350, or 14 with $130. The flex dollars are basically like dollars except of course they have the face of a Biliken. After your freshman year you can choose a meal plan with $140 flex dollars and no meals. The meals plans can be changed at semester.
