What Students Are Saying

If you are out of state, definitly try for a ton of scholarships. The university didn't give me any scholarships but I'm enjoying my time in Auburn just the same.
Marissa from Stafford, VA
You should definitely look around. Never just choose one college and not have backups. However, if you are looking towards Auburn, definitely visit the campus. Take a tour. The town is wonderful and any pictures don't even do it justice. Make sure you apply as early as possible because there are a lot of eager people wanting to get in.
Colin from alpharetta, GA
Pay attention to your classes, this is a fun place to be and has a relaxed atmosphere but if you fall behind in class its tough to catch back up.
Christopher from Addison, AL
There is a lot that I could say about this school, but nothing would capture what it's truly all about unless you experience it yourself. Therefore I'll just say work hard, study a little everyday. Put yourself out there when you get here, find something to join. We have over 300 student organizations, I promise there is SOMETHING for everyone to be a part of. With 50 minute classes every other day, it's sometimes hard to meet people, depending on the class setting. The best memories you'll take away from Auburn are the ones that you've made with people that share some of the same interests as you. Go to at least one football game (even if you don't like sports. the atmosphere of Jordan-Hare is mind blowing.) Walk around campus, just because. Believe in Auburn and Love It! (George Petrie, the first Auburn Tigers head coach)
Devin from Conyers, GA
Visit campus in the fall or spring to really get the feel of what Auburn is like. You can even sit in on classes if you ask someone you know or even the Student Recruiters (tour guides). If you're coming from out of state, Greek life may be the perfect way to meet people (that's a main reason why I did it). If it's not right for you, no worries there are also many other ways to meet people. These are some tips specifically if you are going to Auburn:

1) Get your lunch right before classes get out so you don't have to wait in long lines (espceially at Salsaritas or ABP)
2) If you get season football tickets, that's great! If not, a majority of your fellow freshman friends will also have half season so you can still tailgate or watch it on TV
3) It is a 10 minute walk from Terrell to Haley
4) If you are required to move your car during football season, don't wait till Friday. There are usually avaliable spots in RO on Wednesday or Thursday.
5) Don't spend all your meal plan in the first two months.
6) Every drink and food item in the stadium is $4 so bring money to the games, and your meal plan won't cover it
7) Studying for tests in high school is not like studying in college. If you feel that you need tutoring early on, go for it!
8) Be careful where you park and know the parking rules. You cannot park in RH, RW, or RQ on weekends.
9) Get involved! :) There are over 300 organizations on campus! Or start your own!
10) Sororities have their chapters on Tuesday and Wednesay night so Village Dining is very crowded for dinner!
11) If you are eating on campus dinner on Friday or Saturday night, eat early because places close early!
12) If you are living in the dorms, bring your laundry home to wash if you can, the machines are expensive
13) Make a friend in each of your classes, you may not end up best friends but you can help each other out
14) If you can do it, take a foreign language! It is very fun! :)
15) Get to football games when the gates open...
Jennifer from Snellville, GA
Just smile. Everyone at Auburn is nice. Don't be afraid of your professors or your suitemates. Make the most of EVERYTHING and go to as many home football games as possible.
Laura from Madison, AL
Apply early! They have rolling decision for students who apply early so you don't have to wait for an answer.
If you have the credentials, apply for the Honors College! Early registration is amazing.
Get involved! Then you can meet people with the same interest as you.
When you need a roommate, check out URoomSurf.com! This is where I found my roommate, and we worked out great!

Marisa from Ocean View, DE
Make sure you live on campus the first year. I found that is was really helpful to get to know people and to learn the campus layout. Talk to your proffessors! Most of them are REALLY nice and rather bored during their office hours and would love to talk to you. Talk to older students in your major, they can help you a lot. Make sure you have rain gear! It rain randomly in Auburn all the time but the sunsets are awesome.
