Room and Board The weighted average for room and board and other expenses is generated as follows:
  • (amount for on-campus room, board and other expenses * # of students living on-campus.
  • + amount for off-campus (with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus with family
  • + amount for off-campus (not with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus not with family)
divided by the total # of students. Students whose living arrangements are unknown are excluded from the calculation. For some institutions the # of students by living arrangement will be known, but dollar amounts will not be known. What Students Are Saying

The rustic mountains make calling it home easier than I ever thought possible. The friendly atmosphere creates lasting and loving friendships for a lifetime. Lastly, but not least, the innovative thinkers that enter the classrooms each day give a lasting impression of how positive and bright the future can and will be!
Camille from China Grove, NC
appalachian is an awesome school to go to, i love it! the atmosphere is very friendly and if you get the right professor then you will have a great class experience. the best part is that even though the campus is pretty big, you can get just about anywhere within ten minutes so that is nice.

Appalachian is such a beautiful campus with matching population. Everyone in the community is very accepting of each other and always willing to help. Going to App is worth the seven hour drive it takes to get there!
