At the geographic center of the United States, Kansas is known as Midway, USA. It’s also popularly known as “The Wheat State” and “The Sunflower State.” When it comes to colleges in Kansas, there are six state-operated public universities, one municipal, one federal, and one military college. There are 19 community colleges and a handful of technical schools, as well. The oldest continuously-operating college in Kansas is Baker University.
