What I love the most about Shoreline Community College is that the classes are no larger than 30 people, max. The small classes definitely make it easier for hearing the professor, and also makes for more comfortable group and class discussions. So far, I've taken Biology, Anatomy, Calculus, Nutrition, Communications, and Psychology courses at Shoreline. Most of the professors are great, it definitely helps to get to know your professors by talking to them during their office hours. To avoid getting professors you may not like, I recommend looking at the reviews on Ratemyprofessor.com. But so far, I've had the best professors, and only one or two least favorable ones.

Oh, I definitely enjoy being at Shoreline. The campus looks so Zen with all the cherry blossoms blooming in the Spring, and the green grass looking greener than ever. There is more than enough lounge area outside and inside the school. The school is also handicap accessible. All the doors automatically open, and there are always ramps. I enjoy being in the Sanctuary, which is a large quiet room with plenty of desks, upstairs in the library. That is where I get most of my studying done. I've also made a lot of close friends at Shoreline, which can be hard to do at a college, given that everyone only sees each other in class.

It's a community college, so it is affordable. For a 5 credit course, it's about $500 for residents, and $900 for non-residents. The cafeteria isn't so bad. They sell pizza, burgers, fries, wraps, burritos, lasagna, and soup. It's usually, the same thing, but they do change it once in a while. The price for food and supplies in the bookstore can be a rip off, so I don't recommend purchasing at the school on a regular basis. Shoreline also has neat cafes, one located in the PUB, and the other outside on campus. The baristas are always really cheerful and nice. Also, students can get parking permits for each quarter for just 15 dollars!

I've been a workstudy in the Administration building for two years, so I have lots of advice for prospective students. First of all, if you want to speak to Financial Aid or the Registration office, it's best to go there in person since the phone-lines get pretty busy. But if you're from out of state, then I would recommend calling before the busiest moments of the year, which is usually during the first few weeks of each quarter. My second piece of advice is: Ratemyprofessor.com is your friend. Third, check Amazon.com for cheaper textbooks before you decide to buy in the bookstore. Fourth, bring lunch to school, you'll save lots of money in the end. Fifth, get to know your professors during the first few weeks of the quarter. SCC is great for anybody. Whether you're a parent who is going back to school, or if you're a High School Running Start student, or if you're a Continuing Student, etc. there are tons of opportunities provided for every student of every kind. Plenty of resources for everyone!

Every day is a new learning experience for me. From learning how to write good in-class essays to figuring out how to convert grams to moles( and I 'm not talking about the ones who dig up and eat your flowers) and vise verse.

Shoreline has a very scenic view that combines nature with metropolitain. Plus, having a small student to teacher ratio that is about the same as it was in high school is a bonus.

I don't know what the cafeteria prices are, but overall, it is a nice way to transition from not paying for education to having to play x amount of dollars.

If you are coming straight from high school, please keep in mind, there is no lunch time or bells for that matter, so learn how to manage your time. Secondly, I know you have all heard this before, but don't procrastinate, especially when it comes to buying your books.

Like any community college, Shoreline is a great place for people of all ages; it is even better for those who want to do running start when they are in high school. It also has a daycare for those moms who want to go back to school.
