Did learn a lot | I just graduated from A&T in May, and I feel more than ready to begin my Master's of Accounting program at The Ohio State University. Not only am I prepared, but I also managed to get a scholarship for my Master's and for the CPA Exam (which I am already studying for). The classes are challenging, but it is fun to take some of the electives (not all majors have room for electives, so be careful about that). |
Did enjoy being here | I absolutely love A&T. I grew up around it, and I am so glad that I chose to attend. Now that I graduated, I miss it very much. The years flew by, so make sure to experience all that you can. A&T is more than just the campus, all of Greensboro supports the school. You get student discounts at the Bojangles and Biscuitville down the street, and you are not an Aggie until you go to Cook-Out (for those of you who do not have one). |
Bang for the buck | It is very affordable, especially for in-state students. Keep your grades up so that you will be qualified for the Dowdy scholarships when you enroll (they were created after I enrolled, so I was not eligible). Talk to your chair about creating incentive programs for freshmen (not impossible - Accounting has one). |
Tips for prospective students | Check to see if your department has scholarships. It is very difficult to obtain scholarship money once you have started, so try to get every scholarship possible before classes start. Also, consider work study. It is a great way to earn a little extra money without having to drive to a job every day and will help you get to know your professors. Consider playing an intramural sport - I was on the tennis team so I was unable to play PowderPuff football, and I regret it everyday! |
Great for these types of students | Prospective accountants, engineers, english majors, agricultural majors, business majors in general (I'm biased, the School of Business and Economics was my home away from home for four years). Athletes who are very focused are also welcome because Aggie Athletics is serious (make sure you are also able to keep up your grades because you will have early morning workouts no matter which sport you choose). |

Am learning a lot | NC A&T SU is a HBCU that has allowed me to understand more about culture and history. I have learned more about myself as well as my field of study. I am an engineering major here and the curriculum is tough! I have no doubt in my mind that all the hard work is worth it. I am only a Sophmore and have been taking engineering classes since my Freshman year here. NC A&T SU believes in starting you with your core curriculum courses soon. This way you understand what your major is truley about and can adjust if need be. My mind has been opened and enhanced since my enrollment at NC A&T SU. |
Am enjoying being here | The campus life is an exciting experience. With all the students and organizations on campus there is never a dull moment. The SGA always has a volunteer activity that needs active students. All the Fraternities and Sororities host events that energize the campus. Don't forget all the sport events that take place! The football stadium is always packed! The basketball gym is never empty, and sports such as baseball, softball and track are well supported. Numerous events like blaster bowls and campus awareness take place in our Student Union to keep students informed. Also, there are inspirational speakers that visit our campus such as Rev. Jesse Jackson, Rev. Al Sharpton and Maya Angelou come to speak to our students. There is always something productive and fun to do on this campus and I love it! |
Bang for the buck | At NC A&T SU tuition is a major topic. I am an out-of-state student so my tuition is much higher than in-state students. It is like this at most Colleges or Universities. Though the jump is significant, the education is worth it. NC A&T SU has been noticed as one of the top 10 schools in the Nation for Engineering. Therefore, and Engineering degree from my University holds weight in the Engineering world which gives you more career opportunities. Going to a post secondary school is all about bettering your chances at a well paying career. A degree from A&T is a big step in the right direction. Plus the University is good about trying to find students scholarships. They has numerous University scholarships and send out emails about other possible scholarships. We have an entire Hall commited to helping students find financial aid assistance and helping students towards a career. |
Tips for prospective students | Any student that is interested in attending North Carolina A&T State University should make sure this is the University for you. Check the Universities website frequently (www.ncat.edu) to find out what is going on around campus and what's new within the University. If you are coming in with a declared major, make sure the University has an accredited program in your field. Find out as much as you can about the campus life and go on a University tour. After all this is done and you have your heart set on being an Aggie (university mascot) then get your paper work done as soon as possible. Do not wait until the last minute to make sure you are registered for classes and your financial aid is approved. Do not procrastinate! There are 10,000 other students at the universty and we all have to go through the same process. If you get things done early that gives you time to search for more scholarships and awards. My best advice is be persistant in making sure your obligations are complete. |
Great for these types of students | This University can nurture any type of student. It has a wide variety of activities and programs for everyone to take advantage of. The University is very advantagous to students with an interest in Engineering and Science. The College of Engineering at A&T is well known around the nation and has a high retention rate within the College. Engineering students who come to A&T recieve a counselor that makes meetings mandatory so they make sure you stay on the right path. Also, the courses provide hands on learning that gives experience and education in one class. Class sizes are small enough for your Professor to know if you missed a class which helps students stay on top of their work. In all fields of study Professors care about their students and want to see them succeed. So if your a hard working student that wants to better yourself at a University that cares, this school is for you! |

Am learning a lot | We get hands on experience with the teachers. The classes are small enough to interact with your peers in a group discussions or class room discourse. There are also computer labs in almost every building and residential hall so that everyone can learn and be able to complete homework. |
Am enjoying being here | The atmosphere at North Carolina A&T is very nice. We have plenty of social places that allows all students to just come and hang out to relax such as the Starbucks and Pizza Hut near the Williams cafeteria or the Memorial Union. We also have lounges in the residential halls as well. |
Bang for the buck | We take Pride into our school and why not go to school that has the Greatest Homecoming On Earth! We have the legendary Blue and Gold Marching Machine, the wonderful sounds of the University choir, Jazz band, and the Meac champs cheerleading squad along with the other entertaining sports. |
Tips for prospective students | I say to keep up with your studies. Yes, before I got to the school I was told that the school was a party school but honestly that is at any school. The campus has really focused on the students. I say to stay focused on everything that is given to you no matter where you go. You are at school for the education itself and do not let anyone make you think otherwise. College isn't a place to waste either. So at NC A&T we are full of A-G-G-I-E!!!!!!! P-R-I-D-E!!!!!!!! :-) |
Great for these types of students | This college would be good for students interested in any major but the most prominent and common majors are in the Engineering, Technology, Agricultural and Education Departments. |

Am learning a lot | I am an engineering major and i am learning a lot here. All of my teachers are willing to work with you and help you to get the best grade in the class. Every teacher that I have come in contact with have been this way. And you learn a lot in each class. |
Am enjoying being here | I love being an Aggie! I have a lot of Aggie Pride. I am VP of Aggie Livewires, the pep squad, and I support the school no matter how the teams are doing. And there is always something to do on or around the campus. |
Bang for the buck | NCAT is worth the money. Coming from Virginia, the out of state tuition was cheaper than some VA schools' in state tuition. I fit perfectly here and the education I am receiving already puts a foot in the door for my career. It is well worth the money. |
Tips for prospective students | The biggest thing is to make sure you keep up with your work. Don't let the numerous activities or parties get in the way of your schoolwork. Trust me, it will affect your grades unless you keep up with your work. |
Great for these types of students | A&T is a great school for engineering majors or any related fields as well as Business and Journalism/Mass Communications Majors. It is also a great for Nursing majors and Animal Science. |

Am learning a lot | Being a current Laboratory Animal Science major, I have learned an immense amount of new material that is just so fascinating to me in this major. I have always desired to be a Veterinarian, but I didn't have that much experience before I came to A&T. My family was hesitant about a city girl (Las Vegas born & bred) going to the 'country'. But I was provided with hands on experiences with animals in the lab AND at the farm, and I cannot stress how much it has increased my love for this field. The professors are very experienced and are nurturing, and have increased my wanting to try more and learn more. I also learned more about myself. I wasn't raised around many African Americans, or places that were rich in history and culture. But being at A&T has provided me with knowledge about my ancestry, the struggle behind the advantages that black students have today, and have helped me realize how fortunate I am to have an education because of those before me that fought and died for my chance to live freely without oppression. I've learned so much about the history of A&T and my culture, and it's so interesting. I just want to know more and more, and I love that A&T is providing me with such. |
Am enjoying being here | My first year at A&T was absolutely amazing. I could not have asked for a better freshman experience. I didn't know anyone coming to the school, and I was extremely out of my comfort zone, but luckily I met some fantastic people who took me under their wings and made me feel comfortable in my own surroundings. Those people are like my family, and made my year so much more enjoyable. I didn't even want the year to end, and I'm so anxious to go back. The atmosphere is so fun and friendly, and people always greet you and try to make you part of the environment no matter what color you are. I absolutely love my school! |
Bang for the buck | Being an out of state student does have its woes. Tuition is ridiculous, but I know that's a disadvantage of attending school out of state, and it's worse than other schools so I can't be too picky. It's a bit hard to find scholarships provided by the school for my field, and unfortunately financial aid doesn't cover all of my expenses, but because of my experiences, I couldn't think to go anywhere else. I couldn't picture myself anywhere else, so the financial worries are bearable to some point, just because of my love for my school. |
Tips for prospective students | Look for scholarships early, and make sure your GPA is at it's best. There is a better chance to get more money when your grades are top notch. But most importantly, if you come to A&T, enjoy yourself! Yes, stay focused on your studies rather than going out every night, but there are events going on that you can reward yourself for hard work. It's all about balance. The people that don't like A&T never did anything that they loved. |
Great for these types of students | This school is great for students wanting to go into an engineering field. There are tons of options! Also, the school of agricultural & environmental science have great teachers and programs. If you want to enjoy yourself while attending a school with immense history and great people, A&T is for you! |

Am learning a lot | I am a freshman, just arriving at A&T. I would say im learning everything possibly needed for my freshman year. Im currently enrolled in University courses to prepare me for the difficult courses and enhance my learning skills. Im learning all about the university, its history, and of course the campus. You will be well prepared for your career once you finish at NC A&T SU! |
Am enjoying being here | I love NC A&T SU! Here at A&T we become a big happy family. Everyone is so helpful and encouraging. I've gotten adjusted very well to my surroundings. I also do work study. I love it! I work in the political science and criminal justice office, mind you my major is criminal justice. Its a perfect fit for me. NC A&T is where you should be! Im sure you will love it. I started off a little home sick but after a couple of weeks, I was as good as gold. |
Bang for the buck | I would say you get your moneys worth. Its pretty reasonable to attend A&T. I fell in love with the FLEX dollars that comes with your meal plan. Considering I dont really eat in the caf, it comes in handy. I would suggest you to get a meal plan with the most flex dollars! |
Tips for prospective students | Our campus is lovely. We have shuttle services to take you all over campus to your classes. We also are connected with the HEAT bus. This bus takes you over Greensboro to malls, movies, activities, walmart, etc. We have a chick-fil-a, pizza hut, smoothie shop, Aggie wings, and a Starbucks right on campus! It cant get any better than that. A&T is the school for you. Come be apart of Aggie Land! |
Great for these types of students | North Carolina A&T SU is great for students majoring in agriculture and technoloy. Our school has a concrete school of agriculture and technology. I also think A&T is great for out going people. You have to have a personality. We have a GREAT marching machine, so if your interested in the band/dancing/color guard, this is the school for you! If you like to be around alot of people, in a fast moving environment, this is the perfect school for you. Come be a Aggie, We will make your stay a pleasant one. |

Am learning a lot | The teachers here are very informative, some of them make sure you understand before they move on to another topic. The Business program here is one of the best just not that known for it. |
Am enjoying being here | I like it here, the campus is beautiful, especially in the spring. The cafeteria aka the cafe is nice. Overall the atmosphere of this campus is relaxing during the day and lively at night, which I like a lot. It also reminds me of the suburbs, especially when I walk through the village. |
Bang for the buck | The tuition and went towards the remodeling of the cafeteria, and they have a shuttle bus fee that everyone has to pay for in which only few students actually ride it. |
Tips for prospective students | The food in the cafeteria isn't all that great, but eventually you'll grow accustomed to it. The dorms to stay away from are Cooper and Haley, the better ones are Pride, the Suites or the Village. Dowdy Hall (the financial aid office) will be your worse enemy. |
Great for these types of students | This school is great for those who like to party, want to be an engineer or business major, who is also very studious, and who wants to be in the band. |

In three sentences | North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is the number 1 public HBCU that will change your life. The experience is like no other, creating numerous opportunities and displaying the true essence of aggie pride through school spirit and success. NC A&T is a great place that will offer various resources to take your education, career, character, as well as community to the next level of greatness. |
Tips for prospective students | Being a transfer student I learned quickly that you may get a lot of negative reviews from people when you tell them you're applying to NC A&T (FROM PEOPLE WHO DIDNT EVEN GO THERE!) They usually imply that it's a party school or something of that nature. I must admit that we are known for the greatest homecoming on earth but we are wayyyyyy more than that one week! It's a experience like no other and I encourage you to join the aggie experience, you're destined for success. |
Academic Rigor | NC A&T is well known for engineering because the program is great and many prosper after graduating. There are other programs/schools flourish as well. Ones that stood out to me during my first semester was JOMC, Engineering, Business, and Education. Nursing is the only program that I would not recommend (the accreditation is currently under review). |
Dorm Life | I recommend dorm life because of the convience being that there is always something happening on-campus and it's walking distance to classroom buildings. There are two sides of dorm life (northside and southside). The north side of campus consist of nicer, more expensive dorms. The south side are cheaper, and not as nice however it provides an atmosphere that allows you to meet more people because there is less single room suites which forces you to have suite mates and roommates. |
Food and Dining | The food is great, (for the first week)! After that it's not up to par and It's far from a homecooked meal. However there are other alternatives such as fast food places and food trucks. |
What to do for fun | There is ALWAYS something to do for fun. It truly depends on the individual interest. There are various clubs that host programs that appeal to different interest from forums, to dating games, to spoken word, modeling, etc. Usually the programs are advertised a week or two in advance so as long as you prioritize, you should never have to worry about not having something fun to do on campus. |
Bang for the buck | Utilize all resources that you pay for! We have a lot of great resources such as the student health center, student union, campus rec, as well as free transportation that take you to different universities, downtown, the mall, Walmart and other locations. |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | We have statues of the Greensboro Four on our campus. These statutes are only a glimpse of our rich history that NC A&T aggies stand on as a foundation to be great. These four men were freshman who played a role in the civil rights movement encouraging many to make a difference and take a stand. |
Great for these types of students | Great for intelligent, hard working students willing to be a leader, make a change and climb towards greatness. |
Clubs and Activities | There are clubs for Everyone! The official website displays a list of them and at the beginning of the year there is a huge event called the org fair that displays all organizations. I encourage students to join clubs within and outside of their majors. |
Greek Life | What's college without Greek Life? Greek life is a discrete matter on campus but one thing that is evident is that every org represents their org well through community service and leadership. |
Campus Safety | Campus safety is superb! We have well trained officers that genuinely care about the well being of the students and staff on campus. There have been minor incidents here and there but that's on every campus. Campus police take the initiative to inform students through forums, handbooks, and programs. Also there is many initiatives NC A&T offers to promote safety such as blue emergency pole, multiple offices on campus, a campus safety number, as well as aggie alerts. |

In three sentences | North Carolina A&T, is a great school, and has outstanding engineering programs. I am a current Mechanical Engineer major, that plans to graduate in 2016, and i have absolutely no complaints at all about the school; the people here are great and welcoming. North Carolina A&T is a great place to pursue your college career, and you will not regret it; theres always something to do. |
Tips for prospective students | Many things on campus will try to pull you away from your work. Always remember the main reason you are here, make the right friends, and stay out of trouble. |
Academic Rigor | Mechanical Engineering does require a large amount of work. |
Dorm Life | Good, spacious rooms, very comfortable. |
Food and Dining | Gourmet meals every day for Lunch and Dinner. During breakfast they have great omelettes. |
What to do for fun | Very close to other campuses like UNCG, Bennette for example. Can go to the game room in the Union, or if youre a party person, go to one of the many Clubs down town, everything is in walking distance. |
Bang for the buck | Everyday from 2pm-4pm the union fast food places like Pizza Hut, Chic-fil-a, or blimpies, they all offer 50% off discounts on food! |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | People like playing hide and seek sometimes around campus. |
Clubs and Activities | Baja, or Formula club is very fun, for those students interested in cars, or racing. You can build your own racing cart from scratch, then actually race it in national competitions. |
Greek Life | Many greek life organizations on campus, there is a very strong presence of them, The Divine Nine. |
Campus Safety | Very safe, no problems at all. |

In three sentences | A&T is a wonderful institution! They provide lots of scholarship, and internship opportunities, and provide other services to their students to ensure success after graduation. I also found out at A&T that as long as I asked for help, I received help! |
Tips for prospective students | A lot of people think North Carolina A&T is a party school but I like to say that's what it is if that's what you make of it. As long as you stay focus on your classes and balance yourself so that your social life doesn't consume you, you can be as successful student. |
Academic Rigor | Depending upon your major some students would say the classes are hard or not. But no matter what major you are in, there's ALWAYS someone around to help you! Whether is a professor or a friend, you don't have to struggle. |
Dorm Life | The traditional styles resident halls aren't horrible but were not my preference. The newer style resident halls are wonderful and everybody tries to get a room in them so it's best to do your housing early. Thankfully freshman can live in any resident hall on campus just as long as they do their housing early. |
Food and Dining | Coming from New York I didn't care for a lot of the southern food but the dining hall is hit or miss, but some people like it. But we aren't limited to the dining hall we have food in the union to eat and there are food location off campus in walking distance to eat at too. |
What to do for fun | There are parties on and off campus, and events that are hosted for the students by the school which are FUN! I mostly did low key things with my close friends and boyfriend such as go to the movies, or order a pizza and watch a movie and play games. Which is always fun, because you're around people you enjoy. |
Bang for the buck | I live in New York State and it was actually cheaper for me to go out of state to A&T than stay in state to go to some of the schools at home. |
Great for these types of students | If you're in to the whole politics thing, A&T has a competitive student government association. They plan excellent programs on campus and the royal court always shows off at the football games! |
Clubs and Activities | There are LOTS of organizations to be apart of on campus. What I loved most about my freshman year was that as a freshman I was able to be apart of a lot of organizations. It made me feel like I had a say so! |
Greek Life | I am not a Greek but they are interesting and always keep campus live. |
Campus Safety | Campus Safety is important at A&T. We have our own campus police, emergency push buttons and security guards in all resident halls and builds that hold evening classes. |
