What Students Are Saying
Check to see if your department has scholarships. It is very difficult to obtain scholarship money once you have started, so try to get every scholarship possible before classes start. Also, consider work study. It is a great way to earn a little extra money without having to drive to a job every day and will help you get to know your professors. Consider playing an intramural sport - I was on the tennis team so I was unable to play PowderPuff football, and I regret it everyday!

Any student that is interested in attending North Carolina A&T State University should make sure this is the University for you. Check the Universities website frequently (www.ncat.edu) to find out what is going on around campus and what's new within the University. If you are coming in with a declared major, make sure the University has an accredited program in your field. Find out as much as you can about the campus life and go on a University tour. After all this is done and you have your heart set on being an Aggie (university mascot) then get your paper work done as soon as possible. Do not wait until the last minute to make sure you are registered for classes and your financial aid is approved. Do not procrastinate! There are 10,000 other students at the universty and we all have to go through the same process. If you get things done early that gives you time to search for more scholarships and awards. My best advice is be persistant in making sure your obligations are complete.

I say to keep up with your studies. Yes, before I got to the school I was told that the school was a party school but honestly that is at any school. The campus has really focused on the students. I say to stay focused on everything that is given to you no matter where you go. You are at school for the education itself and do not let anyone make you think otherwise. College isn't a place to waste either. So at NC A&T we are full of A-G-G-I-E!!!!!!! P-R-I-D-E!!!!!!!! :-)
Jayla from Beltsville, MD
The biggest thing is to make sure you keep up with your work. Don't let the numerous activities or parties get in the way of your schoolwork. Trust me, it will affect your grades unless you keep up with your work.
Angelique from Norfolk, VA
Look for scholarships early, and make sure your GPA is at it's best. There is a better chance to get more money when your grades are top notch. But most importantly, if you come to A&T, enjoy yourself! Yes, stay focused on your studies rather than going out every night, but there are events going on that you can reward yourself for hard work. It's all about balance. The people that don't like A&T never did anything that they loved.

Our campus is lovely. We have shuttle services to take you all over campus to your classes. We also are connected with the HEAT bus. This bus takes you over Greensboro to malls, movies, activities, walmart, etc. We have a chick-fil-a, pizza hut, smoothie shop, Aggie wings, and a Starbucks right on campus! It cant get any better than that. A&T is the school for you. Come be apart of Aggie Land!
Kimberly from Greensboro, NC
The food in the cafeteria isn't all that great, but eventually you'll grow accustomed to it. The dorms to stay away from are Cooper and Haley, the better ones are Pride, the Suites or the Village. Dowdy Hall (the financial aid office) will be your worse enemy.
bianca from APO, AE, NY
Being a transfer student I learned quickly that you may get a lot of negative reviews from people when you tell them you're applying to NC A&T (FROM PEOPLE WHO DIDNT EVEN GO THERE!) They usually imply that it's a party school or something of that nature. I must admit that we are known for the greatest homecoming on earth but we are wayyyyyy more than that one week! It's a experience like no other and I encourage you to join the aggie experience, you're destined for success.
Jasmine from Raleigh, NC
Many things on campus will try to pull you away from your work. Always remember the main reason you are here, make the right friends, and stay out of trouble.
Jonathan from Durham, NC
A lot of people think North Carolina A&T is a party school but I like to say that's what it is if that's what you make of it. As long as you stay focus on your classes and balance yourself so that your social life doesn't consume you, you can be as successful student.
