Am learning a lot | Millersville Universities professor provide you with an the tools you need to succeed. The professors strive to build a relationship with you so that they get to learn the type of student that you are. Also because the classroom settings are small you get that chance to be seen as more than just another student. All of the text books are up to date and the resources are impeccable. |
Am enjoying being here | Millersville University is a great place to be. There is always something to do one campus and there is an organization for everyone. On Saturdays there are movies nights and mid night breakfast. The organizations are always having workshops that are always fun and beneficial. Tutoring is available for anyone who needs it and the library is very helpful. It is over all a great place to be. |
Bang for the buck | I see Millersville University as very helpful when it come to Financial Aid and scholarships. They provide you with all the resources you need to help you to not have to pay too much for school. The University also gives you a lot of money to attend if you have the grades. |
Tips for prospective students | To perspective students when you get to Millersville use all the resources that are offered to you. Do not be afraid to ask questions. If you start strong you will finish strong. |
Great for these types of students | Millersville is great for all types of students. there is something for everyone there. |

Am learning a lot | At Millersville the classes are very interesting. Some of them maybe larger, mostly the lectures, however the professors are all very friendly and more than willing to work with you if you have any questions. |
Am enjoying being here | As a new freshman I've learned the importance of getting out of your shell and embracing the college experience. Millersville is great for finding finding clubs, organizations and sports that you're interested in. The campus is very welcoming and is always open to new members. |
Bang for the buck | Overall the school gives you more than what you pay for. It's a state school so it's cheaper than that of private schools. It offers students a wide variety of educational opportunities that they may not have been aware of. |
Tips for prospective students | When applying to Millersville be sure to apply early and send in all of your paperwork as soon as possible. If considering coming to Millersville be aware that there is serious construction going on that will take 10 years to finish all of the plans. Also the library will be completely closed for next year; something I'm sure they haven't mentioned on tours. |
Great for these types of students | The school is excellent for any type of education major. |

Am learning a lot | All of my classes are different and interesting. They're not too tough that you feel overwhelmed but be sure to go to every class or you will start to feel behind. The teachers are great and you have a lot of chances to get help or ask questions. A lot of my teachers have made it a point to get their email out there and make sure students know their office hours. |
Am enjoying being here | There's so much to do. The Student Center is under construction so there isn't as much (from what i've heard). The Student Activities Board has movies every Saturday night and some fridays. There's parties on the quad in the fall and spring. |
Bang for the buck | Get involved. There's so many things to do on campus and there's plenty of clubs. The more you get involved with, the more people you'll get to know! Go to all your classes and your professors will help you out. I transferred in and got to know my art teachers (I'm an art major) and the head of the department helped me get my classes by doing overrides and saving spots in one of the classes that fills up fast. There's so many opportunities for every major. |
Tips for prospective students | Go to class, get to know your professors, don't be on their bad side, it'll make your life hell. If you have a question, ask! Most teachers email back right away! If you need help, go to their office hours. Get to know people in your class, it's a good way to make friends and when it comes to studying or being confused with an assignment, it'll save your life! |
Great for these types of students | Looking to go to a great state school. If you're looking to be a teacher, Millersville is the best school in the state for teachers. It started off as a teacher school and eventually started offering other majors. It's great for other majors as well, I'm an art major and the teachers are very experienced in their fields. It's a smaller school so the campus isn't overwhelming. At Millersville, everything's one a more personal level. The teachers get to know you by name and the classes aren't huge, unless you're in a lecture, but even then it's not too huge. |

In three sentences | Great professors, good variety of majors, great resources. It is a relaxed campus setting, meaning you can do your own thing, provided your own thing isn't too loud or obnoxious, as most students here enjoy the quiet and ability to rest/study when they want. Food is average, but from what I hear, that's high praise for college cafeterias. While it is a safe quiet campus, some things are taken too far, like desk assistants now having to work until 3 am on school nights. Overall, love it here. |
Tips for prospective students | ASK QUESTIONS!! Don't be shy, You can have a great time, but if you are a party machine, this is not the place. |
Academic Rigor | Depends on major, workload is very manageable, must have self discipline to succeed. Plenty of places to get some quiet study time if you have a roomie. |
Dorm Life | Get a room in the old style dorms. Concrete walls keeps noise to a minimum. New style suite rooms are smaller, more expensive, and have paper thin walls. |
Food and Dining | Meh.....average food, except for the lunch truck, which is kinda awesome. |
What to do for fun | Visit Lancaster town, outlets. Nearby fishing. LOTS of on campus activities. |
Bang for the buck | Very good, personal instruction. Would give it 5 stars except for the pay per credit scam, which not only makes it highest tuition in PASSHE, but if you choose an exploratory class and drop it (say you take 17 credits, you pay for the last 5 as additional credits), and drop the class because it doesn't interest you, you still pay for full class. Other PASSHE schools let you take up to 18 credits, no charge, so you can explore new things without a financial risk. |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | Swans. And the most obnoxious squirrels in the world. |
Great for these types of students | Outgoing but relaxed. Not great if undecided on a major because of the pay for credit scam. |
Campus Safety | Ridiculous amount of over-protectiveness. Actually, you should have no worries here. Campus police are actually helpful most of the time, but DO NOT speed or cruise a stop sign on campus. |

In three sentences | Many of the classes have small class sizes, which is nice, since you are able to get more attention from professors and most will know your name. The pond by the math building is beautiful and it is nice to go there and feed some of the local wildlife like ducks, squirrels and the swans. Overall, the campus is a pretty chill and peaceful place to be, which is nice when your dealing with workload stress. |
Tips for prospective students | Do not expect for the professors to give you everything like in high school and when you are in college; do not be surprised by the workload. |
Academic Rigor | Many people who classes that relate to their major are very active and try to excel. Others who take general electives appear to not care or take the class serious, but most try to do well just for the nice GPA booster. |
Dorm Life | Living in a dorm is interesting and convenient. If you ever need homework help, there are plenty of people to ask for it. Some people will even proof read your papers free of charge. The friends I made last year in my freshman dorm have become my family. We eat many of our meals together and hang out on the weekends and after classes. It is always nice to come back from class and be able to talk to someone about your day. |
Food and Dining | There are a couple of dining halls around campus, which is nice, because if you are in a hurry you can grab something and head to class or you can sit down and eat with friends and you can always get more. This year they added a vegetarian and vegan section in one of they dining halls and the food is so tasty. |
Bang for the buck | Millersville is a very cheap state school compared to other universities across the State of Pennsylvania and is also cheaper than Private schools too. |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | The Snapper is the University's newspaper and the reason that it is called this is because in the past girls and boys were not able to be together and talk, so they would snap at each other and then would meet in the woods. |
Campus Safety | Millersville is a very safe campus, as a girl I know I can walk across campus without be harassed or have any other incident occur to me, which is comforting and nice to know I have independence without any consequences. |

In three sentences | Millersville is a cozy school in a small-town setting that makes it easy to feel comfortable and at home on campus. The programs at Millersville, particularly the education department which I am currently going up through, are very good and provide students with many unique opportunities. Millersville is a beautiful place to attend school and is constantly updating to provide it's students with technology and resources which will help them grow and succeed. |
Tips for prospective students | I would say prospective students need to realize how to work hard and still make time for yourself by picking activities or doing something that you love. Don't let college stress you out, it's not as scary as it seems at Millersville and the faculty is pretty willing to help you out. Pack light, bring an umbrella and a snack, and always write your homework assignments down so you don't forget; you will do great! |
Dorm Life | I am a commuting student so I am mostly going off of what I hear. |
Food and Dining | Millersville is wonderful because students are a walking distance from other businesses so they are not limited to just University Dining. There are several pizza shops and a Subway all within walking distance. |
What to do for fun | Millersville has many choices of intramurals and on-campus clubs and activities. If you can't find something you would really like, you probably haven't actually looked because they provide a little something for everyone. Millersville is also close to theaters and there are several parks and trails within a short drive of campus. |
Campus Safety | Millersville has what is called MU Alert which is a system run by the campus police department which sends out warning texts to your phone and warning messages to your email detailing events that have taken place recently on campus and severe weather details. The great thing about this system is it also warns you about events that have been reported in the local community so that you can be made aware of any potential incidents. It should be noted that incidents that involve danger to students are so rarely reported I have only heard of one since I have been going there and that was at an off-campus party. |

In three sentences | Millersville University is very diverse, and has many opportunities for students to reach their highest potential. Being the first person to go to college in my family, Millersville made sure that everything that I needed help with was handled and the professors are always there to help you whenever your behind on work. I am glad that I choose Millersville University because it gave me the determination to never give up and to seize the opportunity. |
Tips for prospective students | Some tips for prospective students is always stay on top of your game. Never wait till the last minute to do homework or any type of assignments that the professor has given to you. But not only that, choose your friends wisely, realize that not everyone is going to be your friend. It's not high school anymore, take care of your responsibilities and get into organization that will keep you going and learn how to network. College is fun, but at some point you have to know your values and understand the things that you have to give up in order to be successful. |
Academic Rigor | Professors are a big help, you can always attend their office hours and their always here to help you whenever you are falling back. There are many resources around the school that will help you with any subjects that you are struggling in. |
Dorm Life | Dorm life are pretty relaxing, you have your own little space and the bathrooms and rooms are always kept clean. |
What to do for fun | During the weekends my friends and I go to the nearest mall and spend our weekend there. |

In three sentences | Millersville is a good size campus where everything is in walking distance. You always see familiar faces and are always meeting new people. Lots of things to do both on and off campus with a group of people or just to venture off by yourself. |
Tips for prospective students | Make sure you make the most of Orientation Week! That's the best place to make friends to help you feel comfortable in a strange place. Two years later my friends still get together with their orientation groups, so that's the first step to making you feel more comfortable. Friends in the beginning of this journey will help you through anything! |
Academic Rigor | Gen ed classes are generally easy, understandable, but require a lot of work. The courses for your major are rigorous in both work, class time, and field experience. |
Dorm Life | I love dorm life in that you are close to everything and you're surrounded by people. The buildings could use an update, but they are in the process of building new ones now! If you have the choice, I would recommend going into a smaller dorm building. It gives you the chance to meet more people! |
Food and Dining | Food isn't bad, but it's not home. There are enough places that offer buffet style or grab and go. You have to watch the prices for the grab and go so you don't go over your meal. I know the university is striving to make healthier options available and lower the prices! |
What to do for fun | Ville After Dark offers a variety of programs like midnight movie showings on weekends. During warmer weather there's events going on in the quad. Park City Mall is a 20min bus ride away! |
Campus Safety | I always see MUPD cars patrolling campus. The officers have a great relationship with the students, they're not just there to bust you! There are also blue poles around campus for you to call for help if you are in an emergency. |
