Am learning a lot | My professors/instructors are really great at what they do! None of them make the classroom boring and they keep the information fresh with new ways of presenting it to you. |
Am enjoying being here | Very enjoyable, everyone is friendly, upper classmen are helpful. Food is pretty good too! |
Bang for the buck | School was in some big magazine about being #1 in Texas for the Bang for your buck. And currently, I think so too. |
Tips for prospective students | Need money? Join the Honors program, you'll get 1500 a year if you're in good standing with the program. Come check it out, it's a great campus! |
Great for these types of students | Any type really! |

Am learning a lot | Most of my teachers have been great! I have learned a lot from my classes, especially sociology with Dr. Packard! It was an interesting class. |
Am enjoying being here | The campus is beautiful & I have made some amazing friends at this school. |
Bang for the buck | Tuition rates are lower at MSU than all the other school I considered attending. |
Tips for prospective students | Make sure you pay attention to scholarship deadlines. If you live off campus, make sure you come to class early because you will not find a parking spot close to your building otherwise! |

In three sentences | It is a great university! Faculty and staff are willing to help with every aspect while you're here at Midwestern State. It's a small campus but you'll feel right at home once you're here! |
Tips for prospective students | Be optimistic. Yes, we are a small campus, but we have plenty of FREE events throughout the semester for our students. |
Academic Rigor | The classes are challenging, but well worth it! I didn't realize what a liberal arts education entailed until I got to Midwestern. A first you might be thinking, Why do I need philosophy or foundations of business? All these classes help you to become a well- rounded student and eventually a well-rounded employee/employer! Take advantage of this education. |
Dorm Life | I stayed in Killingsworth my first year and I had a blast! Our RA's were always there for us and made dorm life fun! |
Food and Dining | We just got a new contract with the food service provider, Chartwells. I really love the new addition of the Chick-fil-A and the burger place. |
What to do for fun | The Falls Downtown is a great attraction. |
Clubs and Activities | UPB (University Programming Board) does a great job planning and executing free events for the students. |

Will learn a lot | I have met some of the counselors at Midwestern and they are totally willing to help you get into the right classes with the BEST of their teachers. To get a spot with the great teachers, be sure to attend spirit days which is an early registration program they have. |
Will enjoy being here | Everyone I met while I visited the campus was super friendly and very helpful. |
Tips for prospective students | Be sure to sign up in time for scholarships through Midwestern to receive free money!! |

In three sentences | Great university!! Filled with amazing people! |
Tips for prospective students | Get involved in all on campus activities. Not only will you have an amazing time but you also will receive free food and shirts :) |
Academic Rigor | MSU is not a cruise through school. It is difficult but all the professors here alre very helpful and in fact want to help. We also, have free tutoring and you'll have plenty of classmates that you can meet up with to study!! With all this help there is no reason to why MSU students won't excell. |
Dorm Life | I did not get to live in the Dorms because I was a transfer student. But I met plenty of people who have lived in the dorms and they absolutely loved it! There are plenty of activities that the RA's set up for all the freshmen to have fun and meet great people. |
Food and Dining | They have vegan and vegetarian sections and CAGE free eggs which I absolutely love!! |
What to do for fun | I personally really enjoy to go out to the mall and eat. We have two cinemark theaters which is where I am at all the time if I'm not walking around the mall. |
Bang for the buck | Out of state tuition fees are very good here and reasonably. It was literally cheaper for me to come to MSU and pay out of state tuition than to stay in my state and pay in state tuition. |
Clubs and Activities | All of our athletic teams are great! We have amazing clubs here too, we have a walking dead club!! |
Campus Safety | Our officers truly care about the safety of our students and faculty. They are very good at their job and interact with everyone on campus! |

Am learning a lot | The classes are great and the ratio of students to professor allows you so much more face to face time. |
Am enjoying being here | Is really easy to meet new people and make great friendships. Like the closeness of the business without it being to urban/metropolitan, also like the smaller town atmosphere. |
Bang for the buck | Tuition is at a great rate, so much cheaper than any other schools I looked at even for out of state. |
Tips for prospective students | Make sure when scheduling classes you pay attention to which buildings they are in because even though the campus is not huge, you still can end up sprinting if you are on opposite ends with only ten minutes in between. You should also try to learn about the Professors you plan to take, before you pick them, so that you know you can learn to the best of your ability. Your learning style does not match the professors teaching style it may not end well. |
Great for these types of students | It is a great school for any type of students. So much stuff to do, that anyone can find entertainment, or even make it themselves. |

In three sentences | Midwestern State is a affordable university with a variety of majors to choose from. They have a knowledgeable staff and faculty that are willing to help you succeed. There are loads of things to do on campus from movie nights to Finals Frenzy consisting of food and materials to help you study for finals. |
Tips for prospective students | To always communicate whether it is with any of the offices or with your professors. They are here to help but only if you ask. Also to take advantage of the success programs such as tutors, writing centers, and the library. |
Academic Rigor | It can be overwhelming at first but as long as you study and take advantage of the success programs it's almost impossible to fail. Also there are professors who are willing to work with you or recommend something to help you succeed. |
Dorm Life | The rooms are a good size and are in a zig-zag shape to give you some privacy. They pair you up with someone who is the same type of student as you are. If you're a night-owl and study at night they'll partner you up with someone similar or vice versa if you are a morning person. The RA's are amazing and are always there when you need them. They make it their mission to get you out there and socializing rather than just saying in your room all day. There are also various lounges where you can watch TV and also laundry rooms on many floors where you can do your laundry FOR FREE! |
Food and Dining | The cafeteria here is amazing and has lots of variety whether you want to have Pizza for dinner, and you can even have cereal for dinner. There are also other places on campus to eat such as a Chick-Fil-A, a burger joint, and for coffee we have a Starbucks on campus. |
What to do for fun | I usually like to either go and relax in the swimming pool after a day of classes, or hold a movie night in the lounge. I also find myself playing pool in the game room when I am on campus. I also go to some of the lectures on campus or go and view the entertainment that is offered such as comedians, musicians, and even magicians. |
Bang for the buck | They offer lots of things such as a gym, services, tickets for sports events or entertainment events, etc. There's a lot to do around here and a lot of ways to succeed academically for an affordable price. |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | One of the unusual traditions for Midwestern State is that we have a bonfire when it gets closer to our homecoming game and the students are offered a free homecoming shirt if they bring a shirt from another college. Then when it's time for the bonfire they put the shirts from the other schools on the fire. |
Great for these types of students | For any type of students willing to learn and also have fun. |
Clubs and Activities | We have over 100 organizations and with anyone being able to create their own organization the number is increasing. There range from academics, to special interests, to sports, etc. There's always an organization to join here on campus and if you can't find one that matches your interest then you can just create one. |
Campus Safety | The campus police here are always on duty. There is at least one officer on duty 24/7 to keep our campus and our students safe. There are also many emergency poles scattered across campus that will call the campus police station whenever you need help. |

In three sentences | I couldn't sum it up in 3 sentences. I love being a student at Midwestern State University! The class sizes are small, especially once you get really into your degree plan. I love being able to stop by my professors office and ask questions without having to wait long periods of time to see them. The campus is absolutely beautiful, with tons of green space for students to use for recreational purposes. The faculty and staff are wonderful and work very hard to help you with whatever you need. There are tons of job opportunities on campus ranging from student assistants, sales associates in the bookstore, to the fabulous tour guides in the welcome center. Also, there are over 100 groups, clubs, and organizations all around campus, so finding your perfect fit is easy. I hope you strongly consider becoming an MSU mustang, and make my university, yours! |
Tips for prospective students | Definitely go to the free tutoring sessions! Take advantage of any and all workshops, TA's, SI's, and group studies. Also, check out the help labs in the various colleges; the English writing lab provides free coffee! |
Academic Rigor | It's pretty tough in the core classes, but I feel that once you start taking the classes specifically for your major, you'll being to enjoy them more! We have many accredited programs on campus, as well! |
Dorm Life | I lived in killingsworth as a freshman and loved every minute of it. I think the office of residence life does a great job of providing students with the best, from RA's, to the friendly custodial staff. I would suggest being a resident to anyone! |
Food and Dining | The food is pretty great! We have a starbucks, Einstein bagels, chick fil a, burrito bowl, and an exceptional burger place, all within the student center. We also have our cafeteria that provides students with a variety of food options, from burgers, to pizza, to deli style sandwiches. |
What to do for fun | Res-life, or the office or residence life, does a great job of providing activities and events to the students on campus. Also, the student development and orientation office as well as UPB work towards giving the students several weeks of activities through out the semester. You could find yourself eating cake with Maverick, running down the bunji run lane, or riding a mechanical bull in front of Prothro-Yeager. |
Campus Safety | We have an extremely secure campus! We have officers that rotate, to ensure that we have someone on duty 24 hours. Also, our campus offers a service to where you can register your phone number and receive alerts from campus police letting us know of campus closures, delays, shooters, tornados, etc. I have never felt unsafe at any point, while I've been at MSU. |

Am learning a lot | I am learning so many new things that you don't learn in high school! The thing is you learn different things depending on your major. For example my major is theatre education. So i have had to help build set for upcoming plays. I will also be taking a shop class. This will help me so much in the future. The Teachers here are wonderful and if you ask most of them will be glad to help you with anything. |
Am enjoying being here | Midwestern is a great environment if you do not want to go to a huge school. They have just the right amount of students. They also have a variety of different activities each month so you can be active and meet new people. |
Bang for the buck | Midwestern is totally the bang for the buck. Great price for a great education. I love it. You don't have to pay outrageous amounts of money to go to school and the benefits of the campus are amazing. |
Tips for prospective students | My tip to any student wanting to come here is get on your professors good side. Do ALL the work assigned because they hold a high expectation. Have fun but make sure you are passing all your classes. |
Great for these types of students | Anyone that is willing to learn! |
