Established in 1939 as the Frontier Graduate School of Midwifery, Frontier Nursing University is a graduate-level nursing school in southeastern Kentucky. FNU offers both Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice degrees and its Nurse-Midwife certification track is both the oldest and largest continuously operating such program in the United States. In addition, Frontier’s large distance education program enables students in all 50 states to complete the FNC core curriculum in their home communities. All incoming nursing students begin their FNU careers with a four day orientation program called Frontier Bound.
