Am learning a lot | Even when taking my general ed. classes, I've learned more than what I've expected. The teachers that I've had this semester all seem thrilled about teaching and hearing student responses. |
Am enjoying being here | Great campus- very mellow, friendly peers and professors, many places to lock up your bike. Our student union has three fast food restaurants: Panda Express, Subway, and Chick-fil-A. There is also a small pool haul/ bowling area/ game room to go and have some fun. |
Bang for the buck | If you don't have a laptop, they let you borrow one (very helpful), also there are always professors or tutors willing to help (within their time). |
Tips for prospective students | If you plan on attending this school, I recommend you apply for classes ASAP, because budget cuts have taken a toll on a lot of students. Also, don't be too proud to ask for help, everyone needs it at some point, just ask! Go to Library for laptop lending up to two hours available (must be a student). If you're driving, I recommend getting to school early to get a decent parking. |
Great for these types of students | -GREAT for Ag students, (tons of scholarships offered from CSUF) -liberal studies major, -tuition is low -help is available in library from tutors |

Am learning a lot | Yes indeed I am learning a lot! I am from the coast and I did not know much about agriculture, although here with my peers I have learned plenty. This campus has a variety of classes that you can attend. I have taken classes that range from Drama to Kickboxing. They have no limit to what you can learn. |
Am enjoying being here | Although it is my fourth year now I do miss home. Like the saying There's no place like home! It very true! I do enjoy being here though, I have made new friends and have even joined a sorority now. It is very different from home and I enjoy every minute of my learning experience. |
Bang for the buck | Definitely if you have financial need our campus offers a variety of scholarships, and you may think they are fake and that they don't really give them out. But they do give them out, I personally have not applied from them, but I have friends who have and they do receive the money. Plus if you are running low on money and cannot afford a laptop the library will gladly lend you one with a student id of course. They have your choice of Dell or Mac. |
Tips for prospective students | If you do plan to come here be prepared the weather changes drastically at times. But if you have not experienced real seasons you will be amazed. For the winter bring warm clothing and for the summer get ready for the pool. Also do not feed the squirrels especially it they look friendly, I did once and almost got attacked. Last but not least, just be yourself! Everyone here is extremely friendly and they will like you for who you are. :) |
Great for these types of students | If you like the outdoors and wilderness, Yosemite National Park is near, great for hiking. If you enjoy the beach a nice road trip to Pismo beach will do wonders. If you have a cheerful, friendly attitude and you are full of school spirit you are welcome with open arms. Mainly if you are ready for a great learning experience Fresno State is the place for you! GO BULLDOGS! |

Am learning a lot | There are many wonderful general ed courses one can choose from, whether it be 'Fundamentals of Public Speaking' or 'Introduction to Biology'. Also, every department has wonderful faculty and staff, each one ready to assist you in the best way possible. |
Am enjoying being here | I enjoy this campus a lot! Everyone, from teachers to students, is very friendly. |
Bang for the buck | If you are looking to save money, this is definitely a top choice for a college. Despite the budget cuts, tuition has stayed relatively low which is phenomenal. |
Tips for prospective students | CSU, Fresno has one of the largest libraries in California, and the nation which over one-million-plus books including various other resources. We have a great athletics department, namely our men's baseball team which won the NCAA Tournament in 2008. We also have a fantastic and top-notch music department. |
Great for these types of students | I recommend all students come to Fresno State! |

In three sentences | A friendly campus nestled in the heart of a city that's small enough to feel comfortable, with home town charm. The instructors know their stuff and deliver lectures of the highest caliber, providing a friendly learning environment that welcomes all students interested in higher education. Definitely a quality choice for both education and environment. |
Tips for prospective students | Relax! CSUF can put you through the ringer if you sign up for challenging classes, but don't let that put you off. Nobody said learning is easy, and both the teachers and tutoring services will be sure to have you passing your classes with flying colors. |
Academic Rigor | I know from both personal experience and the word of my classmates that the courses at Fresno State provide a satisfactory amount of material. A rich education is there for the taking, if the right classes are selected with the help of a major adviser. |
Dorm Life | Unfortunately, I live with my parents, and am unqualified to comment fully on the state of dorm life at Fresno State. However, I have been told by several acquaintances that the dorm life is the same as any other college: full of people you'll remember for the rest of your life. |
Food and Dining | Fresno State boasts a wide variety of dining choices, from fast food to sushi to the local Doghouse Grill. Also nearby are several restaurants not affiliated with the campus, per se, but that are within walking distance and the budgets of most students. |
What to do for fun | Campus activities are constantly happening, with free movie showings being put on by a team of dedicated students and many other options to choose from. A shopping mall is located not far from Fresno State, as well. |

Am learning a lot | The teachers are very helpful and knowledgeable. I am learning a lot from not just the teachers but also from the students are are very friendly and patient. |
Am enjoying being here | The campus is very laid back but the enthusiasm of the students is everyone. This is definitely a school with school spirit. There is always something going on whether it be something educational or something fun. Vintage Days is an event during the spring that people should go to that shows off what the school is really like. |
Bang for the buck | There is a lot of housing for students within 2 miles of campus that is very affordable and convenient. |
Tips for prospective students | I would suggest to visit Fresno's campus during Vintage Days. Also look for housing early because the prices increase later in the summer. |
Great for these types of students | Great for students who like a laid back atmosphere but are challenged in the classroom. School spirit is all over campus. You can meet all different kinds of people who are very nice. For people who like it hot in the summer and cold in the winter. |

Am learning a lot | I went to a junior college before coming to Fresno State, and the amount of information I have learned at Fresno State is double what I learned before. It is amazing. I've learned about people and events that have changed the world for us today, and yet they were never a part of the lessons we were taught in other years. It is an amazing experience to learn so much every time I attend class. |
Am enjoying being here | Fresno State is a beautiful campus. I love walking to class, and enjoying the scenery and the squirrels that run about the grounds. The professors are concerned, and make themselves available whenever you have a question. There is always an event going on on campus, so there is something new to see every time I come to class. It is amazing. |
Bang for the buck | College in California is expensive, but Fresno State is definitely worth the amount. They offer a variety of classes, and do the best they can to work around the budget cuts and offer the classes that students need. |
Tips for prospective students | Always pay your tuition on time; you can be dropped from your classes if you don't. If you really want a class, and it's full, be persistent. Get wait listed, go to the class and talk to the professor. If you show how determined you are, you have a better chance of getting into the class. Sign up for classes ASAP. And most importantly, study hard, but always remember to take some time for yourself. |
Great for these types of students | Fresno State is a great fit for students who want a diverse experience, interactive classes, and a wonderful curriculum. It's a great fit for students in the Central Valley, and it's close to tons of attractions, only a few hours from lakes, the beach and the mountains. |

In three sentences | The students, community, tutoring center, and advisors are wonderful although at night time you may need a pepper spray. The food is extremely popular and there's a newly built Robertitos! I am currently a Fresno State worker and the professors I help are really nice and I love working with them. |
Tips for prospective students | Definitely read your syllabus and check ratemyprofessor.com to make sure your professor has a descent amount of reviews or ask around first! Always go to class and never check out early or miss a lecture because you will fall behind even if you do get notes from friends. I learned that the hard way but following my friends. Always talk to your professor if you have questions because professors are willing to help with their office hours. |
Academic Rigor | The more units a class has, the harder it will get. Some professors are willing to help you work up a plan on how to get a better grade. Other professors just simply have hard tests that you will have to study hard to get the grade. Simply read the book, attend the free tutoring center, and ask questions. |
Dorm Life | I have a few friends who have encountered roommate problems but from the stories I've heard from my brother and my sister who have also slept in the dorms, the size of the room and bed is decent. They are expensive but everyone says it's fun! |
Food and Dining | School campus food has definitely gave me the Freshmen 15. I have gained 15 pounds from all the great food I've been trying on campus. Every Friday, we have $5 dining hall all-you-can-eat! It is great if you are on a budget and it is free for dorms. We also have a new Robertitos with restaurants all around. The service is fast and we have Panda Express, Taco Bell, a little bar with age restriction to beer. Friendly environment and workers are what makes the restaurants really popular as well. Across the street, there is Buffalo Wild Wings and DogHouse which are my favorite! Go! |
What to do for fun | Fresno State has its own bowling alley and with all the food around campus, the gym is my favorite. We have a recreation center with a second floor, indoor track great for the winter! The football games are really fun and active, and the school student committee always gives out raffles. There are school job fairs and vintage days. Activities are always sent out by email to notify students. Fresno's most popular mall Fashion Fair is only five minutes away. My friend lost his phone charger and literally ran to the mall to buy one so I would say it is very convenient. |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | As a student addicted to asian pho, there is one right across the street which I barely found out my first semester of college while being in Fresno for a long time! |
Great for these types of students | If you are a gamer, the third floor of the library will be your home. If you are a Starbucks lover, we do have a Starbucks across the street but there is one right on our campus on the second floor of the library! The second floor smells like coffee and is opened until night time. |

In three sentences | Fresno State is a fun school with a strong belief in their students. The diverity on the campus is a great way to meet new people with different backgrounds. This i a very good school and I like my decision on coming here. |
Tips for prospective students | It is important to get to know your teachers by going to their office hours. Its a great way for you to get to know them and vice versa. They are there to help so take advantage of that. |
Academic Rigor | Academics here are not hard to keep up with as long as you pay attention in class, take good notes, attend office hours and read your textbook. It may be a hard adjustment for some students, but there is a lot of help on campus such as tutoring and the writing center. The rate I will give is a 10. |
Dorm Life | Dorm life is very fun. You get to meet a lot of students from different backgrounds and build up on long term friendships. The rate I will give for dorm life is a 10 |
Food and Dining | The food and dining at Fresno State is always available for students with great prices. Because it is on campus it is flexible for students to eat in between classes and very conveinant. The rate i will give for food and dining is a 7. |
What to do for fun | Fresno State hosts a lot of events that everyone can do for fun. For example USU Productions hosts a movie night outside in the softball field for students to watch movies that have recently came out. Sporting event are also fun. |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | During Halloween I noticed that the Hispanic club celebrated Dias de los Muertos which means Day of the Dead, in front of the library. |
Great for these types of students | If you are involved in community service, there are clubs even a class that would be great for these types of students. The class is I believe worth one or two units and it is part of scholarship where students can earn $1,500 after 40 hours of volunteering. |
Clubs and Activities | During the third week of school clubs and fraternities open up their booths in front of the USU and students are able to get more information on how to join. Fresno State has a great number of clubs and activities for everyone on campus to be a part of. The rate I will give is a 9. |
Greek Life | Greek Life is a great way to build a brotherhood or sisterhood with those on campu who are part of it. It i also a great way to network with the alumni for hopes of getting a job. |
Campus Safety | Campus Safety is very important to Fresno State. Along the pathways there are call buttons that students push if they are in danger and the campus police will arrive at that destination in a matter of minutes. They also will drive you to your car if you have a late class. The rate I will give is a 10 |
