Am learning a lot | Wilkes has a diversity of programs with wide range of levels, from developmental classes up to second year college classes they have it. WCC also has many of their classes as either online-only, or 1/2 classroom 1/2 online (hybrid) classes which eases scheduling for those with a heavy course load. |
Am enjoying being here | WCC is set in a rural area close to Wilkesboro, NC. There is ample parking for students, staff and those who need Handicap spaces. There are many areas of the school where you can study independently between classes such as the Library and Open Computer Lab where there is an English teacher there to help writing papers. |
Bang for the buck | Tuition and fees for in-state students for a semester is capped at $1124 as of Fall 2011. This should be the same for all community colleges, and is great value. This considers 16 credit hours of classes, but you can add more and not be charged extra - however, be aware of the extra workload. |
Tips for prospective students | Meet with an advisor, and don't be afraid to talk to people. A lot of information is available on their website but a lot is not. Staff and instructors are very approachable and willing to guide you in your path to college success. This may not apply to many, but WCC DOES NOT currently accept college credit from non-US schools. |
