In which ways do you feel you are learning and growing?
I feel that I’m learning at VUU by taking new classes that help me see the concept in a different perspective, engaging in discussions with other students and professors and participating in extracurricular activities that have allowed me to research internship opportunities.
How are you enjoying your time at this college?
My experience at the college has allowed me to branch out and being able to express myself more than I did before college. The students, opportunities, and scholarships make Vuu different from other institutions.
What tips can you share with prospective students?
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. There’s always someone to guide you along your journey at your institution.
What qualities do you have that have best prepared you for success at this institution?
I have leadership, time management, and organizational skills.
In what ways do you feel this college challenges students academically?
Professors often tell you to explore new ideas to make sure not only that you understand but backing up evidence as well. They want to hear your words rather than your research.
How would you describe the dorm life at this school?
The dorm life is under budgeted but they allow you to either have a suite or community bathroom. It’s very quick to settle and move out as well.
How would you describe the food and dining options?
We have different stations and cooked freshly made each day. From fried chicken Wednesdays to taco Tuesdays and desert bars as well.
In your experience, what is there to do for fun at this college?
We have homecoming, Greek life if interested, spring fling as well.
In what clubs or organiziations have you participated and how have they impacted your overall experience?
I’m in work force development which has allowed me to earn scholarship money when I continue to do a service. This summer I’m going to a internship in Baltimore Maryland with under armour and it can help me with my major further.
Are there any quirky or unique traditions that make your college special?
We have chapel every Thursday that have guest speakers that speak on different topics and the word of God.
How does this institution support campus safety or mental health and wellness programs?
We have easy access to campus police and our institution has recently added mental health resources through an app to see how we are doing each day or if we need someone to talk to for athletes as well.
How has your college supported your career development and future goals?
This college is always having new resources for your major specifically for your major to stay on track through advisors.

Am learning a lot | Learning wise depending on you major Virginia Union has a lot to offer you have small class sizes and your professors are more than willing to always lend a helping hand |
Am enjoying being here | I came here knowing the school was an HBCU but I believed the campus woudl be a little more diverse, also the majority of the people here are ghetto still have a hood mentality and disrespectful. To me it feels like i am dealing with a bunch of immature children ( no matter where you go you will encounter the same problem ) |
Tips for prospective students | Establish your self early on in the school year show your professor's that you want to learn and they will go head over heels for you. Campus Gets boring very easily ( no cable ) so you'll have to find things to occupy your time, and lastly MAKE SURE YOUR FINANCES ARE IN ORDER |

Am learning a lot | Most of the teachers are really helpful, and they try to make sure that you have everything you need to be successful in their classes. Since the classes are smaller, the teachers have the ability to know you on a personal level, and that helps when it comes to extra credit |
Am enjoying being here | Richmond in general is a little boring if you don't have a car, but there is always something close to do if its just going t hang out at VCU, if you do have a car the opportunities are endless, and it helps when you have good friends on campus. |
