In three sentences | The University of Exeter was a life-altering experience for me. It was by far one of the best decisions I've made regarding my education. The only bad thing I can say about it is that graduation came too soon! |
Tips for prospective students | Study, study, study! It's not the easiest education you will get, but it is certainly the most rewarding. Join a society or a sports team (or both!). You'll find friends for life. Never pass up on an opportunity. Don't think to yourself, Oh, I'll do that next year. Do it this year AND next year. It will be your only regret if you don't. |
Academic Rigor | You really need to give it your all. For some people, academics come easy, but putting in more effort will increase your growth and enable you to study past your undergraduate degree. The lectures were wonderful and the lecturers always there to assist you should you not understand something. Utilize all of your resources and attend every lecture and tutorial. |
Dorm Life | I did not live in a dorm, as I chose a private residence, BUT I was 'adopted' by my classmates so I didn't miss out on much. The facilities are great and they are only getting better. |
Food and Dining | Plenty of places to eat. Different cuisines served throughout the campus. The RAM (the student bar) was great for food and social activities with friends. |
What to do for fun | Participate in societies or sports, volunteer, travel throughout the southwest of England, or head to London for a quick getaway. The student night-life is also rather bountiful. Go to the Old Firehouse (for Harry Potter fans, the pub that influenced The Leaky Cauldron) for pizza and cider! |
Bang for the buck | As an alternative to studying in the US for 4 years, I ended up paying less that what I would have, as my degree programme was 3 years. |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | Go on a Harry Potter tour! The university and town was a huge influence for J.K. Rowling. |
Great for these types of students | Great for everyone but, you must appreciate the rain. Or not, but be prepared for it at the very least! |
