In which ways do you feel you are learning and growing?

I am taking a lot of art classes and specifically my Drawing 2 class has made an impact. We are doing pastel landscapes which involves a lot of color and so whenever I am looking around outside I start to notice the colors in the trees and on the grass, etc. Overall those art classes has made me look at the world a little differently.

In what ways do you feel this college challenges students academically?

It challenges you by making you be responsible for yourself. You have to set your own schedule and make sure things get completed. While in high school there is a set schedule of classes and you have to do what they say. In college you don’t necessarily have to do the assignments but that still does reflect on your grade

How would you describe the dorm life at this school?

At St. Charles Community College they give you the option of staying in the campus apartments or living at home. I live at home which is perfect for me because I get the experience of going to college without being too far from my parents. If that is something others would be concerned about then I suggest living at home and commuting but that also depends where you live.

How would you describe the food and dining options?

The food is pretty good. There is a Starbucks there and a cafeteria where you can order food or just buy premade things. At first thought you could think the cost is expensive but it seems reasonable for a community college.

In your experience, what is there to do for fun at this college?

I’ve heard there are usually plays going on at Shook Theater and other events that take place on campus. The have had goat yoga before and counselors thar bring puppies if you need help during midterms. I unfortunately haven’t experienced any of those activities.

How does this institution support campus safety or mental health and wellness programs?

The campus has their own police station and they often have security walking around. There are also those poles with the flashing lights and a button that you can press if you feel unsafe and a police officer will come and help you. There are many different forms of student services that you will find on the website. They have counselors and academic advisors and all sorts of people to help you.

How has your college supported your career development and future goals?

The professors really want to help you be successful and always want to make sure you get what you need to achieve that.
