In three sentences | Great school. Lots of innovative programs and scholarships! Small class sizes with knowledgeable faculty and staff. Campus is a good size, not too big or too small-- and is well kept, modern and clean. |
Tips for prospective students | Apply for all of the scholarships available through them because they don't get very many applicants... it's almost a guaranteed win! One of my favorite things is the fact that you print for free, so if you have lots of paperwork or powerpoints to print off just go to the school and print there, saves you and your printer at home! |
Academic Rigor | I think that it is about average. Nursing is harder and has a more rigid grading scale. |
Dorm Life | Dorms are available at the neighboring Bemidji State University that is just a few miles down the road and is located right on the lake! |
Food and Dining | On site cafeteria with homemade recipes cooked to order right in front of you and is very reasonably priced. There are always lots of restaurants you can go to nearby as well. |
What to do for fun | The colleges have many events for the students, Lake Bemidji and it's parks and pathways, Sanford Event Center, bowling, movies and night life. |
Bang for the buck | One of the most inexpensive schools that I have applied to and the education is the same with good outcomes! |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | Thanksgiving they usually have events all week such as turkey bowling or turkey toss... and yes you do use a frozen turkey for both. Winner brings home a turkey! They also have the Amazing Race that involves the faculty and staff in the spring time. It is sort of like a triathlon/obstacle course they must endure in teams and is used to raise money for their Foundation office which is where the scholarships are through. It is entertaining to catch a glimpse of if you can! Also another great thing is inside the door of the library, there is a bulletin board full of current job listings that are applicable to the programs at the college, that is always worth a peek. |
Great for these types of students | Students that like a small-mid size college that is all on one level. There are no sports associated with this college so if that is something you were looking for you would have to look elsewhere. |
Clubs and Activities | There are a few organizations and activities that you can be involved in, of course because of the smaller size there is not as many as you would find at a larger university. |
Greek Life | Phi Theta Cappa, to know more about this check with the college. |
Campus Safety | On site campus security and parking lot patrol (so don't think you can get away with parking in the lot without a tag! They'll find you!) |
