Am learning a lot | I have learned so much already in my 2 semesters at Macon State. The teachers are very helpful and obviously love what they do. I can not stop talking about how awesome this school is! |
Am enjoying being here | This school is great for me because I am still living at home. It is close to anywhere you would need to go between classes. I am only a short drive away so I love being able to live so close without living on campus. |
Bang for the buck | I would give this 10 stars if I could! The prices at Macon State couldn't be better! It was a no-brainer while I was researching schools. I can attend Macon State for a fraction of the price of nearby Mercer University. And the amazing thing is - you can't tell it's a cheap school! Your education doesn't suffer! |
Tips for prospective students | Buy your books early, invest in a rolling backpack, arrive early to class, and don't be afraid to visit the teachers and ask questions! The teachers are very approachable and will always make themselves available to answer questions or schedule a meeting with you. |
Great for these types of students | If you love being able to fit your classes around work then this is the school for you. I have two jobs so I was worried that I wouldn't be able to go to school AND work, but with the help of an awesome registration assistant I was able to do it. The campus is close to pretty much everything and with the new on-campus housing and affordable tuition you can't go wrong! |

Am learning a lot | Professors are very helpful. If I am having trouble in a class, I can get a tutor or talk with my professor during their office hours. The professors want people to be successful and they want students to reach their goals. |
Am enjoying being here | Everyone in Macon State are friendly and they give you tips on what classes you should take for your profession. I live in the Residence Life and it is wonderful. Other colleges have freshman sleeping in traditional dorms, but in Macon State you can live in a apartment. I have my own room and bathroom it is a great place to live in. |
Bang for the buck | The tuition is great here. The financial aid can help you with any problems you may have. Emergency loans are given if you do not have the money right away. |
Tips for prospective students | Attend every class; it is good to start at a small college than a university because at a small college you can get the one on one relationship with your professor. At a university, you are only a number. Students that are coming to college right after high school should start off small, then work your way to the top. |
Great for these types of students | I think that Macon is great for people in a 2 year program. By the time you finish, you should be ready to go to a University. |

In three sentences | This university is one of the most affordable, has a nurturing atmosphere, and the diverse student/faculty/staff body is like no other ... LITERALLY. There are many various degree fields/extracurricular activities/clubs/programs to attend and be apart of. You are guaranteed to find something that suits your interest here at the beautiful Middle Georgia State University! |
Tips for prospective students | To do your research on any colleges you may attend, be prepared to be more accountable, and always stay on top of your coursework! |
Academic Rigor | The academic rigor here is challenging. But don't let that scare you. If you're not made to analyze, think critically, and problem solve, how will you be ready for the workforce in your specific career field or any career field? |
Dorm Life | I personally have never lived on campus due to me living so close to campus, but I've heard some pretty great things. The student housing is lively and spacious, so you're sure to find something you like! |
Food and Dining | The food/dining is fantastic! From the cafe's to the cafeteria, there's always something different to choose from! |
What to do for fun | There are many different events hosted by the Student Life Program to attend and there are various sports/clubs/student organizations to join as well! |
Bang for the buck | Middle Georgia State University is literally one of the most affordable universities you will ever come across, which is one of the big reasons I came here. With the many degrees, sports, extracurricular activities, clubs, and student housing offered here, you are sure to get the biggest bang for the buck! |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | Two traditions we have are Purple Thursday and the Spring Formal. On Purple Thursday, everyone on campus wears purple as apart of school spirit (colors: purple, black, white, gray). The Spring Formal is held every spring semester during the month of February and there's a specific theme set for it each year. So whatever the theme is (for example: The Great Gatsby theme or Masquerade theme), you come dressed as that and dance the night away! |
Great for these types of students | This campus is practically suited to just about anyone, no matter your interests or background, in my opinion. I truly enjoy this university and have come to know some phenomenal and diverse friends and peers here! |
Clubs and Activities | The clubs and activities here are numerous. Too many for me to count! |
Greek Life | We do have some Greek Life that just came about this Fall 2015 semester and is steadily growing! |
Campus Safety | The campus safety here is fantastic. The police department does an amazing job of making you feel safe here and also have multiple safety measures and action plans in place if anything were to happen. |

Will learn a lot | I only have two classes so far and planning on receiving my other two. But I have meet my future professors and I can tell already that they are going to be quite helpful to me. And have already told me that only the brightest students aren't afraid to ask for help. |
Will enjoy being here | So far I have been accepted into Macon State and the faculty and staff have been over and beyond helpful to me, especially my admissions advisor. She is doing everything to make that I have a great year when I start school in the fall and I appreciate her dearly for that. |
Bang for the buck | Macon State is no doubt the cheapest college in the state of Georgia. Financial Aid is very helpful as well. What I thought that I was going to end up paying is 3x as smaller as I'm about to pay for now. I'm so glad that I am going here. |
Tips for prospective students | Don't be afraid to be a pest when it comes to classes and financial aid. The more they notice that you're serious about those things, the more they will tend to help you out. I have called many times about my application and now I call for my financial aid. You may think that they are getting tired of you but you have to remember.. This is what they get paid for helping us. So don't be afraid to be the one who is at class five minutes early and the one who stays after to get a better understanding of what was discussed in the session. |
Great for these types of students | Macon State is the college for students who do not want a so big atmosphere. The class sizes are just like your everyday high school class. Great campus and friendly people. They welcome you with open arms and protect you as if you are their personal family. MSC is the place to be for any college beginner. |

Am learning a lot | In my two years here, I have had the best professors. They keep class interesting and fun. I have learned valuable information that will stay with me forever. |
Am enjoying being here | I love the atmosphere at Macon State. I grew up at a small school, so MSC is the perfect size for me. I've made great friends, and enjoy hanging out with them between classes. I live at home, so I enjoy that the school is close enough that I can live at home and save money! |
Bang for the buck | Macon State is very affordable, and you feel like you're getting the good education you're paying for. It's not an easy school, and I like that I'm paying less but still getting challenged in my classes. |
Tips for prospective students | Make sure you get to class early to find a parking spot. Don't be afraid to go talk to professors during office hours, they'll give you wonderful advice! Try and get to know your professors one-on-one so that if you need recommendation letters or forms in the future, you can go back and ask them to write for you. |
Great for these types of students | The school is great for working around work schedules. I have an afternoon job, so the morning classes are perfect for me. I also like not having classes on Fridays so that I have one day of the week to just chill. I usually use Fridays to catch up on housework I've neglected so I could do homework. |

In three sentences | Macon state (now Middle Georgia State College) has rigorous biology courses with fantastic professors. The financial aid services are slow and hard to deal with. Beautiful campuses all over middle Georgia and it is growing into a university. |
Tips for prospective students | Deal with your financial aid way ahead of time. If possible, make payments online to avoid going to the offices. Do not take the courses lightly. Macon State has very rigorous courses and I believe it should be recognized as being a difficult college. It is a reasonably priced college but it is difficult. |

The professors are very flexible when it comes to freshman and will help you as much as they can. 4. DON'T OVERWHELM YOURSELF. College will stress you out the first few weeks. 5.
