Will learn a lot | At Johnson C. Smith University I will learn a lot about the field I'm going to major in which is Health Education. I will also learn more about the history of my school. How? Who? What? Where? All the need to know bases.Time management. I will learn how to become more independent. |
Will enjoy being here | I will most definitely enjoy being here. During the Golden Bull Academy which is a Program for incoming freshman I learned so much. Most importantly the school made me feel at home. JCSU is a family and as a freshman I have become a part of that family. I cant wait to start school on Aug 12,2010. I'm really looking forward to it. ;D |
Tips for prospective students | Be very Motivated and involved. Don't get distracted by others who would have you fail. Surround yourself with people who want to do something in life and are a positive influence, not those who are negative because they will pull you down. You want to be lifted.Enjoy yourself and have FUN! |

In three sentences | I would give Johnson C Smith University a 7 on a scale of 10. It has a nice environment and good teachers but there is various issues with financial aid. If you have decided to come to the University make sure that you always stay on your finances. |
Tips for prospective students | Always stay on your finances. If you receive an academic scholarship be sure to keep your GPA above a 3.0. |
Academic Rigor | The rigor of your classes will be determined upon the major you have decided upon. Being a double major in biology and chemistry the rigor of your classes is very high. |
Dorm Life | Dorms are a good size and you have the options of single rooms or double. New dorms have just been built. The only issues is, as with living with other people is the cleanliness issue. |
Food and Dining | The food in the cafe is good, especially breakfast. The cafe is unlimited food once you have entered. |
What to do for fun | Being located in Charlotte, NC there are many fun things to do in you're free time. This includes theme parks, clubs, and downtown Charlotte is only five minutes away. |
Bang for the buck | The school is quite expensive but you will get an education and experience not found many other places. |
Campus Safety | There is a full staff of campus police as well as gates around the school. Each gate has a guard booth and is monitored 24/7. |

In three sentences | A wonderful school with small class proportions. Great sense of community there. Located in Charlotte, the Queen City. |
Tips for prospective students | Manage your time well. Do not get so involved with the party life that you forget why you're attending the school in the first place. Get to know your professors, as well as your peers, because you'll need someone's help before you graduate. Don't forget to enjoy your college career and still try to have fun! |
Academic Rigor | Nice, small classrooms. You have the ability to get to know your professors and vice versa. You can actually learn and engage in the lessons versus taking endless notes in a class of 400 students. |
Dorm Life | Dorms are nice and clean. Great housekeeping staff. |
Food and Dining | Food could use a little improvement but still good nonetheless. |
What to do for fun | Via bus, there's several malls, movies, and restaurants. If you have a car though, there's so much more. Clubs, bowling, skating, facilities for outdoor activities (mountain climbing, whitewater rafting, etc.), museums and much more! |
Bang for the buck | Johnson C. Smith University is a private institute so there is no in-state/out-of-state tuition; everyone pays the same amount for tuition. Teachers are so involved in the students' academic progress, as well as satisfying graduation requirements, such as community service projects. |
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus | On designated Thursdays, at 10:10 pm, campus clubs and organizations make-up short performances for all students to get an insight on what they are all about. |
Great for these types of students | JCSU is great for students who like a small campus with small classes, where everbody knows everybody. |
Clubs and Activities | There is: tennis, volleyball, track & field, basketball, football, modeling troupes, a cheerleading squad, and so much more. |
Greek Life | The Greeks keep campus alive and fun. Their mini performances during gym parties get the whole school involved. The students love cheering on the fraternities and sororities. |
Campus Safety | The campus is pretty much safe seeing as how you have to go past the security booth before entering the main campus. Most freshman stay across the street in their designated dorms, which are gated and has its own little security booth. Only those freshman have key access to the gates. |
